From the synth stabs that set the background at the start to the upfront piano that rides it out, "Chunky" surrenders itself to a single old-school hook. But regardless of those blatantly '90s vibes, Mak & Pasteman keeps the track dissonant and forward-thinking throughout. Only a persistent bassline runs counterpoint to the hook, with creative synths and vocal edits sprinkled in the mix to help give "Chunky" a surprising edge. The crew is also prepping a new bootleg 12", which features its versions of Kendrick Lamar's "Swimming Pools (Drank)" and Whitney Houston's "It's Not Right But It's Okay." In true white-label fashion, Mak & Pasteman's record is simply called MAP001, and has no firm release date.
