Without technology, in the modern day, students will be very limited because of the kind of education that is available with technology. Meaning its necessary for development and this is a good thing. It helps us learn and grow exponentially compared to how education used to be before technology first existed.

This quote sends a messages to people who don't wanna change the ways people are taught because they're stuck to it. But the truth is as he said is that it'll "rob our children of tomorrow," meaning it won't give them a chance to explore new ways to do things in the world and using newly advanced technology to learn is really the only way to prepare students for a better future.

Students and teachers have more options as to where and when they can do their work. Technology allows a person to receive an education in other places besides school classrooms.

Technology serves a great purpose in benefiting education. I believe it has had the most impact on students with disabilities. Kris Zorigian and Jennifer job, authors of an article entitled "How do special education students benefit from technology?", states, "Even the students with the most severe and profound disabilities can use assistive technology to join a classroom of typical students and their potential can be reached in ways we didn't have before" (Job and Zorigian).

Combining Technology and Education

Technology has helped all kinds of different learners develop an education in a way that suits their learning styles best. Many Students receive a comfortable and positive educational experience due to technology. Combining technology with education appears to have made an improvement in learning for everyone. I notice the improvement most in students with disabilities. First of all, students who cannot write due to a disability, also have many other options of communication. The Dragon Program is an input device for computers, the program plugs in an then all the student has to do is give it a command. The Dragon Program can browse the web, control applications, control the desktop and write documents for students. For example, if a student cannot physically use their hands and fingers, and they need to write a term paper, Dragon Program will allow those students to get it finished and turned in. The student will just have to tell the Dragon Program what to write. Secondly, students who are unable to leave their houses have the option of taking online classes from their computers at home. Online classes allow students to receive an education even when students cannot physically and/or financially transport to school. Technology also benefits students who are hearing and/or vision impaired. For example, Apple has designed their products to suit individuals with disabilities. The Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch each come with excellent listening comprehension features that are designed to assist the hearing impaired and deaf. Students who are hearing impaired can video chat using sign language. Technology has adapted for the vision impaired as well. Apple has voice over screen reader which allows students to hear a spoken description of what is on the screen. The voice over screen reader allows hearing impaired students to receive text messages, emails, and updates. Students and teachers have greatly benefited from technology taking part in education. Technology helps give all different kinds of students the education they need and want. Without the presence of technology in education the ability of many students to learn would suffer.

On her article Educational Computer Games for Kids, Amar Mahallati says that "Games can be used for good; in fact, you can actually take the positive aspects of computer games and use them to help your kids learn things like music, science, and math." Besides apps, parents may only think that computer games brainwashes their children in a wrong way and helps them in no way, but the truth is that children who use educational games actually improve on school subjects. If it is used in the right way and in a good amount of time, children can learn so much from these games.

With the many apps and computer games out there for children to use, there are still toys that they may use to help with their education. Leapfrog has created their own tablet to help children's education by providing activities on the tablet that provide endless possibilities to learn and make it fun for them: "Rich tablet content can extend children's possibility spaces and allow them to explore ideas and concepts in innovative and engaging ways" (LeVos, "Can Tablets Help Children Learn?").

How Technology Revolutionized Education

From kindergardeners to college students, technology is used to further their education more today, on a regular basis, than it ever has before. Modern devices like iPads or even just computers (some created solely for education purposes) are used through interactive applications that can teach, for one example, biology without having to actually kill and open up a dead animal. Computer's are also used as an incredibly efficient way to write papers for school and we've only had this technology alone for a few decades. Technology on it's own has helped revolutionize the way people learn and made it possible to reach our goals in better and faster ways than was ever imaginable.

Taking online courses allows me to maximize time with my family and children. It helps me to manage my time so that I can be more flexible and be with my children more. The flexibility is the best thing. I've only had to come in to campus for tests. And even though I don’t live that far away, the cost of gas these days is a major factor in my decision to take courses online. Technology has become; unarguably, the most depended on tool for humanity. Whether it is our daily cellphone use or Internet use, technology consumes our everyday lives. Sure the growth of technology has affected and maybe even ruined communication amongst our loved ones, but what are the pros to the rapid advancement of technology? Early mothers (those who have children before they are financially stable) are given the opportunity to pursue their career goals in the comfort of their own home through online schooling. Mothers are able to study, take exams, and get graded all while tending for their children at home. Online courses also give users the opportunity to go at their own pace -- no pressure. The result of online education is attaining a degree in the career of your choice, being able to provide for your family, and feeling successful and proud of personal achievements. Online schooling, however, is not only available for mothers, but also for those who have decided to go back to school. Many choose to take a break from school but their lives get busy, leaving them without time to physically attend a classroom; online schools give these people an opportunity to pursue their dream career.

It seems like children are adapting to IPads more than adults these days. With all the educational and fun apps for them to choose from, it is no wonder why they like to spend time using it. Bryan O'Malley of Axeva states that "Touch-based devices like the iPhone and iPad harness this fundamental human instinct and remove the complexity of the keyboard and mouse for interacting with the computer." Using an iPhone or iPad is much easier for younger children to use and they can use it right in the palm of their hands. It is great for children to use apps that improve certain areas like math and verbal skills. The graphics and animation makes it a lot more fun for them to learn.

The kindergarten class shown in the video above learned about butterflies and their development. With the help of IPads, the children drew pictures, did research and took pictures about butterflies. They ended up learning a lot about butterflies and wanted to share what they learned with others so they decided to make a video using an app on the IPad called IMovie to put together all of their work. When it was complete, their teacher put the video on the active board so the class could watch it. It shows how much more fun children have learning in a classroom with technology.

Smarter Children

Back in the day, children used educational books like for math and writing to enhance their learning, but those books are now being replaced with technology. Those books can now be used on an iPad or other devices. Along with many other activities like coloring and learning to play music, these activities are being transformed into apps for these devices like the iPad. The question is, does this change on how we learn benefit children? Some children may find it boring and unenthusiastic to write in books in order to learn. Now that many parents own an iPad or some other form of technology, children are curious to play with them and what better way to let them play with it than by having educational games on it. By learning on these devices, children are more willing to learn new things and to improve in their weak subjects. I believe that technology in education is positively changing how children learn by making it more entertaining for them to learn and helping them gain more knowledge.
