Hymenaios: the best part is my dad got arrested for the same thing at the same bar 30 years ago...so he can't be mad
Raising an eyebrow, Dionysus blew out a ring of smoke and tilted his head to the side. âGood. The old and wrinkled look never looked good on me anyways,â he replied, his words dragged out and dry. Offering the pack of cigarettes to his son, he shot him a crooked smile, waiting for his reaction for a few seconds before pocketing the box again. Another eye roll seemed inevitable after listening to Hymenaiosâ words. âHow old do you think I am?â
Hymenaios sighed, taking a deep breath and internally counted down from five so that he wouldnât scowl and throw a hissy fit, like heâs sure Dionysus was expecting. Â âWell, if youâre trying to avoid the wrinkles, cigarettes are a pretty stupid way to die.â Â He said, nodding towards the cigarette delicately balancing between Dionysusâ fingers. Â âI know youâre in your late early 20s, although those cigarettes make you look much older.â He teased, reaching out and pinching his cheek. Â âRegardless, I know Iâm old enough to be your father.â
Theoâs brow furrows as he shushes Hymenaios shaking his head. âJesus, Edward weâre in public. Whispers.â He gives a small smile. âBut yeah, thatâs what I think is happening.â
Edward sighed, looking around at the endless swarm of people walking the streets of New York. Â Almost all of them were wearing earphones. Â No one was listening. Â âI hope you plan on sending them my way.â Â He whispered, sending a quick wink Theoâs way.
Dionysus let out a small huff and folded his arms over his chest, his stance tenser than usual. He was grumpy, sober and fully dressed and it honestly wasnât his forte. The cold and the rain certainly didnât improve his mood either, and his brow was furrowed into an almost scolding look. Dionysus usually wasnât one to invite wrinkles into his life by creasing his forehead, but today was worth it. It was after all a fucking terrible day, to say the least. Spotting his son across the street, Dionysusâ glare brightened just a bit, but his eyes were still dark as he carelessly walked between the cars. Sliding up beside him, he greeted him lazily and rolled his eyes as Hymenaios rushed past him. With a sigh, Dionysus followed him, but pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and lit one up. Looking over at his son, he shot him a glare and shook his head silently in disappointment. And he who had thought that the two of them were making progress in the no-stress-department. Damn it. âChill,â he commented dryly, his words dragged out and slow. âLook dickhead, I didnât raise you to fuck around like this.â
Edward looked up as he heard the click of a lighter and shook his head.  âThose will kill you.â  He chastised weakly.  It felt weird to do that to someone who was technically considered your dad.  It was even more weird to listen to some punk berate him on his stress levels.  âTechnically you didnât raise me this lifetime.  In fact, Iâm old enough to be your father.â
Theo frowns shaking his head. âI donât think I should be around people, weird things keep happening when Iâm around people.â Still Eros walks with him trying to explain. âDid I tell you about my clients. They ones who were arguing earlier this week and then last time they came to see me they were all hunky dory. Itâs just odd, not bad but definitely odd and I donât know what it is but Iâve heard rumors. It might be my powersâŠ.â He whispered the last part.
Edward stops suddenly and turns to face him. Â âYour powers?â Â He raised an eyebrow. Â âYou think youâre making people fall in love again?â Â Everyone knew Eros as Cupid back in Olympus so it wasnât hard to interrupt that that would be his powers.
says every descendant of the Olympians every single day.
Eros grabbed Hymenaiosâ arm and turned him back to him. âGive me two minutes this is very important. Answer the question. Has anything weird been happening to you these past few days?â
âTechnically, Theo, I already answered you. Â Nothing. Â Nothing strange has happened to me. Â You know Iâd love to talk to my favorite brother but I have work to do today. Â Youâre more than welcome to come with me, though.â
âSomething strange? Â You mean besides the weather in New York? Â No. Â Iâve been positively lovely, thanks for asking.â Â He barely gave them a passing glance, he was much too busy for idle chat today. Â It wasnât that he was running late--Edward was never late. Â He still had plenty of time to make it to the venue that he was showing a client, but that didnât mean he had time to dawdle. Â âI hope you brought an umbrella. Â Itâs supposed to rain.â
