PSA: Cleaning up

He was watching some silly program on the television, half asleep, when a shape crossed his vision and he worked to wake the rest of the way up- there sat teddy, absolutely beaming, propositioning…something.

Ruh roh. He didn’t like the sound of that ‘hypothetical situation’.

“…Alright, I’m all ears. What is this hypothetical?” Emphasis on hypothetical.

Teddy could tell his father was already half on to him but he didn’t care. It wasn’t like he could hide it for very long. Pressing his lips together he tried to make him smile less guilty though he wasn’t sure he succeeded. 

“What would you say if I got my tongue pierced?” He raised an eyebrow

“Oh, thank you so much for letting me help.” His reply was sarcastic, but there was a smile playing on his lips as he pulled a tub of salve out of one of the upper cabinets.

“It’s alright to accept help, Teddy, despite what some may think..”

Teddy pouted slightly as he watched his father. He knew that he was right of course, help wasn’t a crime. He loved to help other people and he never thought any less of them but it was different. This was him needing help from his dad. 

“I.. guess. But I’m still cool.” He was only 12 and was trying to prove he wasn’t a baby anymore.

Just a Scratch

Teddy looked down at the gash on his leg, and winced. Somehow looking at it made it hurt more than it already did. Sitting down he propped the injured leg up on the table in front of him. It wasn’t that Teddy enjoyed lying... it was just that sometimes the truth wasn’t necessarily the best option. 

“I was.. skateboarding. Fell down.” he shrugged, trying to pretend it was no big deal.

OOC - urgh. I started a new medication to help me sleep and my Dr told me it might make me groggy in the morning. I did Not take this to mean I wouldn’t be able to drag my ass out of bed until 3PM.

Teddy couldn’t help but laugh, rubbing the back of his neck slightly. “It’s actually Edward. Confusing I know. Who ever decided Ted was a good nickname for Edward…But family names and all” Realizing he had gotten off topic he shrugged. 

“See, that’s the thing. People assume I got to be head boy by staying out of trouble and being a good role model. Truth is I got to be head boy by never getting caught.” Grinning he shook his head. “No catch, let’s get it back.” 

“I’m just gonna call you Blue.” Imogen said with a small shrug. “It beats dealing with all these names.” 

“I should try that sometime, the never getting caught part.” Imogen pulled her bag over her shoulder. “What’s the plan, Blue?” She glanced over her shoulder to check if anyone was listening. She only noticed the portraits, but they seemed to be preoccupied.

“Blue. I like it” Teddy smiled, thinking for a long moment about a plan of action. “Also, it helps to be able to morph into teachers, less getting caught that way” His laughter faded into a very serious expression. “Well who took it? Is it in Filch’s office?”

“It’s against school rules.” Imogen replied with a forlorn expression but pout on her face transformed into a look of surprise. 

“Hold the fuck up. Borrowing it back? Isn’t that against school rules, Theodore Lupin? Couldn’t you lose your Head Boy privileges?” She crossed her arms over her chest and examined Teddy curiously. “What’s the catch, Lupin?”

The twelve year old let out a long sigh, more of a huff than a breath but he was internally grateful for the receding pain. It still hurt, but he didn’t feel like crying anymore, which was good because crying was for babies. Personally he thought the burn made him look tougher but he just nodded. 

“If you must.” He was at an age where your father’s help was the least cool thing ever, but what else was he supposed to do.

Teddy lifted his hands off of the rib, frowning more. He wasn’t excellent at healing magic but he was no beginner to his father’s multitude of injuries. Grabbing a glass of water he summoned a straw for it... water always helped didn’t it? 

“I could try to heal it... or we could just take you to the hospital.” He hated to suggest the hospital, professional healers were expensive after all.

Teddy couldn’t help but laugh, she was okay which made the laughter okay as well, if she had gotten hurt that would have been a different story.

“Well maybe next time you should avoid life threatening situations.” He teased.

“At least we know that the potion didn’t help with skateboard wheels on cobblestone.” Miggy explained while peeking under the bandage that was wrapped around her arm. The gash was clean from the gravel and the infection seemed to be gone. Maybe it wouldn’t scar after all.

“They took my skateboard.” She sighed. “So, life threatening situations have decreased substantially.”

Teddy nodded, glancing to make sure she really was alright. He hated to see people get hurt, but there was something to be said for an epic wipeout. 

“That sucks, any way that they’ll give it back? We could always make an elaborate plan to borrow it back... without asking.” He grinned, he may be a supposed ‘role model’ but that was only because he didn’t get caught.

“Here, let me help. I’m good at this sort of thing.”

Sighing the boy turned his attention to his father, his face set in determination. He had always been eager to prove that he was independent but deep inside he knew that it was probably best to let his father help. 

“I... fine. Fine you can help,” he replied, frowning.

“Ah… ! Don’t press there!”

Teddy lifted his hands quickly, wincing apologetically. 

“Sorry! ...I’m not a healer, I’m a teenager.” He laughed, trying to ease the tension as he turned his attention back to the injured rib, paying more attention to being gentle this time. “I think it’s broken” he frowned.
