the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like. 

So you know. 

This might be the real one, y’all.

ive watched black widow, i loved it, here are my reasons why i know this movie was made with a female gaze

pockets

realistic fight choreography

not being scared to talk about topics such as human trafficking and forced sterilization

flat shoes

the suits werent skin tight

yelena putting the vial in her bra when she didnt have anywhere else to put it

taskmasters armor being badass and protective

the mother figure was the brains of the operation

showing that the father figure was abusive and holding him accountable for it

pockets

women had their hair tied back when fighting and doing things

no midriffs

how uncomfy men get when talking about the female reproductive system

correct anatomy for the female reproductive system

the trauma that comes with forced sterilization

nat was not sexualised by anyone and she never had to use her body to get out of a situation

nat slamming her head against the desk to break her nose and reset it by herself

however, there were still one too many shots of scarjo’s ass, why is all im saying

little things I loved about the Black Widow movie

(Or: things that made me realize the influence of a female lead project)

- all the girls had their hair up in most of the fight scenes, whether in a ponytail or braid (Yelena’s wraparound Dutch braid was so cool)

- The makeup!! Mainly that Natasha seemed barefaced for most of the movie, and Yelena’s eyeliner was smudged and smoked out, not perfectly in place. Would have made no sense for Nat to have a full face while on the run, and the movie acknowledges this.

- when Natasha takes her shirt off to change in the Budapest safe house, it’s not a sexualized moment. We don’t see her cleavage, or have a shot that lingers on her chest. Instead it’s used for Yelena and the audience to see the bruises on her back (and we even see a little of the fat on her hips poking above her jeans, because she’s an adult woman who has curves dammit)

- a lot of (but sadly not all) of the Widow suits are more practical in their necklines. Especially Yelena’s suit with her tactical vest over top. Even the suits that have a lower neckline don’t try to draw attention to cleavage

All around, A+ to Cate Shortland and the Black Widow creative team for telling an amazing story about surviving abuse and found family, while also treating the women in their story with respect.

HELP

Hello everyone. I am about to do something that gives me the utmost anxiety and feelings of failure and helplessness and ask for your help right now.

As some may or may not know im going through a divorce and my ex no longer lives with me. I am also unfortunately still jobless as well despite many, many second interview callbacks and now I find myself finally depleted of all my savings.

Normally this is where I ask my siblings for help but alas they just foot a bill to have the brake line on my car replaced which was... not cheap.

I owe $490 in rent and need it paid by June 5 before im hit with a late fee or by June 10 before they start to draw up paperwork to kick me out. This cannot happen bc the only place I'd have to go in that event is to my family in Cincinnati and unfortunately bc of the divorce I cannot live that far away and take my kids with me.

If there is absolutely anything, anyone could do to help me out, I would be eternally grateful for anything you can do. I am still interviewing for jobs and trying all I can do to get hired on practically anywhere to avoid ever having to do this again because I absolutely hate this.

“Wait,” he said and they both stopped with inches between them. He raised a shaky hand, his heart thudding heavily in his chest as he reached for her shoulder and cautiously touched her, like he was afraid she would disintegrate in his arms, but she felt solid and real beneath him. He could feel the warm flannel between his fingers and he let loose a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding and then crushed her against his chest.

“Oh my god, Tony, you’re burning up,” she gasped as she hugged him back. 

He ignored her and brought his lips to her ear and quietly whispered. “You don’t hate me, do you?”

“What are you talking about?” she asked, pulling back from him gently. 

“Because it’s my fault that they’re all gone. Do you hate me Pepper?”

“We need to get you back to bed, Tony, I think you have a fever.”

“Please.” He implored her to answer with his eyes. He had to know now if she hated him. He could take the hatred of almost anyone else but if Pepper hated him it would destroy him.
