New Description Update 2021: Sooo... I like my blog name. I started my witchcraft in the Norvicensian Tradition, and I've had the same description forever, but it doesn't quite fit. Also after looking at my old journals, I realized I really started my witch journey in Feb '04 or so, not late '03, so I did edit that. I've since moved to being mostly Heathen, but I hang out with a lot of Buddhists when I start feeling agnostic-ish. Jesus and I are still cool, we just mostly see other people now. I do incorporate a perhaps controversial view of seeing Od as a sort of stand in for a Ground of All Being, a consciousness or force behind all consciousness? Because Freyja is kind of a mystic... so if you want to view that as "God" in a more traditional sense, or even like "The Force" by analogy, whatever floats your boat I guess? I do enjoy a lot of Christopagan in jokes still though, and will always see myself in that community. I'm definitely a lot like Athlestan from Vikings - just without the weird out-of-character backtracking that pissed off Floki. Old Description was as follows: I've been studying herbal medicine since 1994, and I've been a witch since 2004. I'm a Cancer Sun, Aquarius Moon, Saggitarius Ascendant, and an ENFJ. My background is in the Norvicensian Tradition, but I also incorporate Norse/Germanic Pagan and Taoist influences. I'm Dedicated to Yeshua and Shekhina, I have Brigid for a Patron, and Loki (of all beings) for a friend. So last year my transmission busted on my old vehicle. I managed to get help to get ahold of a 9 year (2008 vs 2017) newer used vehicle... and then 8 months later the alternator on THAT one goes. But at least that's cheaper!

Things are tight for everyone, but if anyone can help, I'm literally walking to work this winter... In this bullcrap... in the meantime.

So funny story... the transportation insecurity that caused increased my anxiety, which increased a variety of mental and physical health symptoms... and I have literal recorded and written proof that he tried to discipline me specifically for documented disability symptoms, because he doesn't think having Tourettes Syndrome itself is workplace appropriate. I don't interact with customers and it doesn't stop me from doing my job and it's a non issue unless I feel actively threatened and I had a large dude yelling at me to do things that could make me break bones so yeah, brain went horrid.

Anyway they super retaliated in a way that damaged my income but I have a good labor law case even in this bare minimum labor law state but...

We're $50 in the hole on our electric bill for August. I have $13 to survive on until August 26th, and that's counting needing gas to get my meds, and money to get my meds, which also means no food money until then, and being on fumes so I'll have trouble even going to the in town food bank nevermind helping my neighbor who can't drive and tries to walk to stores even though he's prone to falls.

Oh and I found out all of this within the last hour and a half when I checked my mail. So that's fun.

70% Drop in Levels of Forever Chemicals Observed in Seabird Eggs Tracks Regulatory Success

These pescatarian birds are directly exposed to PFAS contamination due to the island's position near the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Over fifty years of data show a peak in PFAS (also known as "forever chemicals") content in seabird eggs in the 90s, followed by a decrease as regulations went into effect. The most recent findings show a 70% decrease of most common PFAS.

While continued vigilance a regulation is needed, this data indicates that regulations are working to reduce PFAS concentrations in marine ecosystems.

Yes!!!! I did a review of literature on PFASs in human drinking water about half a year ago, and there is a lot of really good progress! Please celebrate this, please don't let this solution be forgotten (at least so quickly) as the ozone layer or acid rain.

We are making genuine progress! Producers are dramatically altering how much they use PFAS and how much gets released in effluent, but also there's a lot better understanding of how to remove PFAS from the environment!

I know that sometimes the hesitation to use mobility devices is about how it looks, both aesthetically and in terms of 'am I a strong person, worthy of existing'.

Canes come in a HUGE variety of colors, styles, materials, and ways to decorate it. As long as it's the right length, sturdy enough for your weight, and has a non-slip tip there's a good chance it'll do for you*.

Additionally: there are a lot of assholes that don't want you to take care of yourself this way. People who use accessibility aids despite the social pressure not to and their own internalized ableism are powerful people.
