Tips for those wanting to start art conventions?

Hello! Here are some tips that helped me get started at artist alley conventions :)

Definitely start by thinking about what kind of merch you’d like to sell and write down your goals and plan your booth design before dropping money on anything! I make my own layout in procreate using images of my art, and images of things I might buy for my booth for samples lol. Also Cubic storage organizers on Amazon are super helpful for setting up your set display. Having a clear budget in mind for first merch orders , materials is important too.

Also know your target audience, whether it’s fanart you wanna sell, ocs, a mix. When you get started, start with local convention halls to get practice interacting with customers, figuring out pricing, and seeing what works for you.

And honestly.. make merch for fandoms and things you genuinely love/enjoy! 💖 when you love what you sell it really shows! I hope this helps and good luck with your first convention!
