HSHQTASK059: FAREWELL !

when did you join ? what made you join ? what do you remember from the plotlines that were current at the time ? where were you in life when you joined and where are you now ?

i think with a slovenian cousin for the stuarts for a hot minute two years ago and then came back and stuck around for two years. it looked pretty and political plots. the only main one i remember, which was not when i joined first but after a bit was an earthquake and someone was making movie poster edits with the royals.

which characters have you written over the years ?

i don't remember the first one's name, but he had a sebastian stan fc for two seconds, but there was a wendy, effie, francisco, yasmin, matilde and sasha

what is your favourite plotline that you've been part of ?

all of them? though the one that wasn't planned with matilde pushing arnauld into the pool on nye will forever be a fan favourite

what about other people's plotlines ?

it's just the one thread that lives rent free in my mind, i don't even know what the plot was but it mad a big impact, clearly.

who is your favourite character from the ones you've played ? why ? what made you love them ? what made them so fun to write ?

matilde, she just walked the fine line between rules and consequences and she had m.i.b. and by default a.s.s.

if you could relive a plotline, which would it be ?

maybe any new year's eve events, those were always fun, which isn't a plotline but still, within them there were plotlines and it was fun to see what outfits people were posting or sending outfit ideas to each other for the ' matching aesthetics ' .

is there a plotline that you'd edit now if you could ?

nope!

what's a plotline you wish you would have been able to finish before closing or just write more of ?

sasha and his climb or fumble to grand duchy title in hungary and getting side eyed from the croys from there on out and sasha getting to talk to meixu before february 2030.

what is your favourite ooc memory ?

we'll come back to that, i can't think of anything specific atm maybe when serre told on me for not doing this task so that's why it's being done so very late.

thank you evy, e and j for keeping such a wonderful group going for so long so thoses of us who joined later could experience it, and all the amazing people in hshq, even if i didn't get to write or talk with everyone, it has been a memorable time and a bubble away from everything going on. and now forever will be associating specific fcs with characters and having way too many haute couture photos saved that i do not know what to do with now.

catherine felt her sister's presence before the familiar voice registered in her ears, and took another long sip of her champagne before answering . " i don't know what you're talking about, i'm extremely happy for gio. " there was no reason for her not to be ! and as far as she was concerned, the happiness and excitement was plainly visible on her features . " hm? oh you mean our sister-in-law? " it was such an improbable situation that the thought had given her pause . " have you said 'hello' yet? i'm more surprised that anyone would willingly join the programme after what happened, it's still so fresh. " the news channels only had just decreased its 24/7 coverage of royals and pax aeterna to merely 9 to 5 .

           “ to her? no. this would be the first time i've seen her all evening, actually. ” contrary to popular belief, euphemia often ignored the trifling habits of her in-laws less it be political and socially advantageous to herself or quips against her sister; the latter in this case. something admidetly, effie had found to be more consistent since it was just the sisters. oh, where was george when they needed him, she released a breathless sigh at the thought. “ it's almost unfortunate that just because one of us end up married to someone the rest have to take in their family as ' in-laws.' ” she stated absently with eyes studious over the evening's guests and particular upon any swiss royal in view. “ i'm assuming you think she has an agenda? ” didn't they all.

           only once euphemia had come to the painful conclusion that any crown prince of good stature and standing she deemed worthy was not in attendance did she succumb to the dreadfully long stride through important figures alike to the familiar scowl of an icy blonde with a penchant for always one-upping effie in the end, her sister. “ aren't you supposed to be one of the happy ones here? ” euphemia observed with a judgment induced once over of the crimson red garment. “ he is your friend, but you look like this is a coronation for . . . ” an impish gesture, hardly noticed in delivery, waved at a raven haired woman latched onto the arm of catherine's brother-in-law. “ her. ” the almost duchess of cambridge. as was customary, catherine ignored most of her sister’s cutting remarks — mere childish quips that slid off her skin as if they were fallen silk scarves. “i always have,” yasmin had infinitely broadened her horizons when it came to spices since the first night they met. “but i didn’t know you’re that unwilling… should i get the chef to whip up some bangers and mash instead?” she was not going to do anything of the sort — but she would let effie try to wriggle herself out of that. catherine sat herself down, expecting her sister to follow suit. “so— …as much as i love your social calls, i know i’m not usually on your short list.” it was ‘catherine-speak’ for: what do you want?

           some would say it was an unfortunate habit, the consensus, as effie took her seat in tandem with catherine, was still out for the youngest; to follow in her sister’s footsteps down to when to sit was a rather dimmed outcome of birth order. as always, it was done with a smile across the blonde’s lips apropos the image forever conveyed as a ‘ perfect princess, ’ though her expression had suddenly soured by way of a creased dark blonde brow. her lips parted, daring to bring into question the validity of ‘ how she could think such a thing ’ but within one protracted blink the doe-eyed innocence of confusion twisted into a near eye roll. “ you should work on your hosting methods, or has motherhood made you just that much more impatient? ” conveniently, effie left out the motive, what had brought her to sit at the table in her dearest sister’s company. “ even if you’re not entirely hands on with the au pairs awaiting. how many do you have again? ” a sip of the beverage before her, removed any further comment from tainting the already tensed air in the room.

“Ah, gotcha. Then consider it dropped.” She countered, awkwardly shifting her weight back and forth for a moment. “Not sure I really like “the element of surprise” as a security measure but… not sure I really have a choice.” Gwen let out a sigh. “So… have fun with the wine tasting? I’m not sure I did as much tasting as I should’ve. More like drinking.”

           stuck in her own reverie, filled with crashing waves and panicked titleholders of faraway lands, effie's attention snagged on the single syllable word, ' wine ' with a slight nod of her blonde head — only to juxtapose every reaction made. “ no. it was fine, but i miss the drinks back home every time i end up with a glass of wine. ” she, of course, made good on her indifference to feign a penchant for the crushed grapes, but gwen certainly had to share a similar opinion. “ if you prefer wine this early on in life, i think you'll end up just like my sister. ”

           if boredom was a pictured definition it would have been the blonde lounged upon an emerald plush chair with disdain offered to every turn of a page to a new magazine advertisement. no one wanted to buy the anti-aging serum from months past. the glossy pages of the dated magazine had been bent just below effie's eye line. “ if it isn't the one who knows absolutely nothing. ” nonchalant in both tone and gesture, the item was tossed to the nearest table surface, atop a book previously capturing her attention, all about the art of war. “ anything else you don't know? ” ( @rxnancromwell )

            silent scrutiny penetrated doe eyed glances, from the unalloyed pigment-stained chiffon curtains to the dainty details of country pride, by way of swiss emblems, the house possessed, catherine should not, nor would she, be so easily fooled. an upturn of effie’s rounded nose, the first string pulled at the facade, and she smiled through her words, “ it’s quaint. ” and a glance around for appearances sake. “ did your maid forget to come? ” a reach is made for the sterling silver serving cover dome, detailed with moroccan design, uplifted with an aroma that could make any scottish boiled — no, english boiled food blush. “ when did you recently develop a taste for spices? ” or would any party who partook in witnessing the sister’s attempt a civil dinner see two crimson red flushed faces with each mouthful. an alabaster tone hardly hid it well.  ( @catherinestuart​ )

“think i’ll make it three times just to be sure.” gwen replied. “fine seems to be the response from everyone. but are you actually fine or are you just saying fine so I’ll drop it and we can move on to the weather or fashion or who’s sleeping at whose house.” she tilted her head as she took in the other’s expression. “i feel you. my insomnia has been a different beast lately but as you said, that usually happens when we move.” she sighed. “living with my sister, should be interesting. might be a disaster. only time will tell. and yeah, the arse just showed up without warning. what the fuck kind of arrival is that??”

            “ i am just saying it so you’ll drop it. ” her tone was rueful, but imperceptibly so to which effie had come across with monotone inflections that contradicted the flickered torrent manipulation of her features. “ so, we can drop it. ” it wasn’t a question, effie hardly held the patience to dance around unspoken problems like children in a garden with anyone other than her sister; somehow catherine earned an elusive position saved for such things. “ sounds like they are repurposing the element of surprise as a new security measure. ”

they do. in the depths of his being, an undercurrent of anxiety ripples through the prince’s veins, a new constant companion that shadows his every step. each breath tainted with a hint of unease, a subtle reminder of its delicate vulnerability. the world appears as a vast expanse of unknowns, a labyrinth of uncertainties that loom before them. a sense of trepidation clings to his thoughts, whispering tales of potential dangers and what-ifs. heart beats with a mix of anticipation and fear, like a caged bird longing to break free yet hesitating at the edge of its perch. “ –––– i’m alright,” he breaths out. “a dark caramel would look good on you.”

            it was then, a torrent of realization fell upon euphemia, just as she reached a delicate hand out for gabriel, that affection and empathy of the obvious kind was foreign to her as it had been catherine and their mother. she’d claim it to be a genetic disposition, but such would be an excuse to pass off that effie knew little in the ways of comforting another when it mattered most. imperceptibly, she allowed her eyes to wander for something she could offer him, not an ignorant statement on physical appearance for a ‘ good change ’ but something that might placate the paranoia. “ you can’t really . . . maybe i could — we should go for a drive. ”

truth be told, catherine hadn’t spared a thought about hugo since their entire ordeal. her frown deepened even more. “you made it very clear that you don’t think much of hugo, you think i would call him here just to make you uncomfortable? after all of that?” eyes stared resolutely at the back of her sister’s head — was it so terribly unbelievable to understand that catherine could care for her sister that much, at least? “there’s no better time for him to come here than now, especially with all the heightened security. anyway—” a strangled sigh escaped her lips, a strange breath she didn’t know she had kept in. “just… think about it.” how was she supposed to scold her sister for refusing to be alone after what had happened to them? even if her roommate just happened to be gabriel de bragança. “how did he do it? save you, i mean. i don’t think i need to tell you how jumping off the boat and thinking that you could out-swim guns was very, very foolish.” 

            “ maybe it’s worse that you’re doing all this for nothing then, at least have an agenda catherine. ” she looks to her sister somewhat contemptuously but refrain from any seating or comfort is made because much like their ‘ talks ’ effie finds herself unable to lax raised shoulders. “ it makes it almost possible to understand you. ” the last, said with mild fractiousness. feelings were a strange topic for the stuarts, to be briefly acknowledged but never lingered upon. effie had found this to be exceedingly difficult in her brief time with gabriel, as someone who held no shield up ( as he was numb to it all ) but by comparison, effie had wanted to wish it all away with a flick of her wrist until poking and prodding to the ‘ why ’ came about. dark brown eyes studied the floor as if it were a monet and fingers fidgeted likened to withdrawals, never able to be stilled. “ he took a bullet for me. so thank him, next time you see him. if you ever see him. ”

“I hope you know that us living so close means I’m going to be dropping in a lot more often. I feel like we’ve been drifting, then again… a lot has gone on.” She said with a half-hearted laugh. “How’ve you been since the incident?”

            “ as long as you knock, twice, beforehand. ” the idea of any sort of ‘ surprise ’ given recent events was a terrifying thought, but the comforting one had been that gwen would be right there, steps away if needed. “ i’ve been, fine. ” effie noted curtly because in reality, gwen had said it best, drifting. morocco currently felt like a warm and sunny purgatory where everything was too quiet and too still. she often held her breath waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it never did. “ i can’t sleep at night sometimes, but that usually happens every time we move to a different place. ” she shrugged absently, “ what about you? living with your sister? and your brother is here, that’s good, isn’t it? ”
