Malleo Propaganda; Spoilers for books 3 and 7

- Malleus’ whole deal is about how he’s dehumanized by people- an idol, a devil, a force of nature, etc. People don’t talk about hum like he’s a person and they don’t treat him like one either. Leona, for all that he hates Malleus, has always viewed him as a person. He doesn’t hate Malleus because he’s a dragon fae or because he’s a Draconia or any of those things- he hates Malleus because he’s a childish dick. He chooses to not have Malleus be put in the hall of fame. He chooses to treat him like a person- like someone who can be hurt. I mean, is it for nefarious purposes? Yes. But still!

- Rivals to Rivals who kiss to Lovers(?)

- If they get married, then Leona can finally be king. I mean, it’s not Sunset Savanah, but he’s still a king

- Malleus has never cared about Leona being second born- it doesn’t even register to him (aloof and oblivioussss). Everything he feels for Leona is based on his merit as a person

- Yeah, i think the fact that by hating each other they humanize each other is cool 👍

- Have You Heard Them Banter

- One sided obsession is cool. It just is.

- Both of them desperately need a punch to the face and both of them are the only people who can provide that for each other

- Thematic parallels: Princes, viewed in terms of natural disasters, potential for danger, people placing expectations on them from a young age, good at sports and magic, on the aloof side, retainers/retainer like figures who look up to them, need I say more?

I REALLY like Malleo, im a HUGE fan of this ship, but a lot of people don't like it (which I understand) but I feel like I have to explain why I ship it and how I see it

I dont think Leona actually hates Malleus, more so Malleus just became the target of his years of anger, sadness, and jealousy.

Leona finds something hes good at, something where he is the best at, something that actually motivates him to get up and be better at.

Then Malleus comes along and absolutely beats his ass at the spell drive competition.

The one thing that he was the best at, seen as number 1 at, was taken away from him immediately.

Hes upset, upset at the fact that he isn't good enough at the thing he's is supposed to be the best at. And where does that anger and resentment for himself go to? Straight to the person who is better than him, Malleus.

Instead of looking at himself (or getting a fucking therapist) and working through these feelings, he takes the easier way out, throwing his emotions onto another person.

That's how I see it from Leona's Pov.

Also reminds me of how he doesn't actually hate Cheka, his nephew, he hates the fact that this child will get all the things that he has always wanted. So Instead of getting a goddamn therapist and sorting out his feelings healthily, he builds resentment aimed towards the person that has what he wants.

Bam bam anywahs I also think Malleus and Leona are a lot more similar than they think. As a child people were scared of Leona because of his UM, he definitely was a lonley child just like how Malleus was. Also having somewhat similar titles of Prince, they definitely both have been treated differently by their peers. Leona treats Malleus like a person (or like how he treats everyone else LMAOO) Which is different from how Malleus is usually spoken to, because who would want to disrespect the future King of Briar Valley huh?

And honestly, I think is exactly what Malleus wants to be treated like a person, to be able to banter with another, to have a fair rivalry with someone who wont back down just because of his title.

Yeah this is my fuckass rant, It definitely probably doesn't make much sense because im sleep deprived, its 1 am, and I just fried my brain after doing schoolwork but I love my boys so anything for them.

I noticed something from the 2.5 state video, specifically about the weapon of choice on the final fight between Saps and Flux.

Swords will always be the aesthetically pleasing weapon when it comes to Saps and Flux’s final fight in 2.5, but there’s something so viscerally devastating about Saps using an axe.

A sword’s blade is meant to stab, to slash, to wound only when you have the desire to. At the end of the day, when you fight with a sword, you have to accept that you’re doing it to hurt and to kill. I loved the way so many artists and writers alike interpret that fight as something intimate, a conversation without words. I think it’s very fair to say that when they both had agreed to fight in the colosseum, they have also accepted that only one of them is walking out.

But an axe has weight. When you fight with an axe, it is significantly different than using a sword. It doesn’t depend only on your will and your own strength; kinetic energy, gravity, momentum, all mixed together. The more centrifugal force you have, the harder you hit even when you don’t mean it.

The result wouldn’t be pretty either. When you use excessive force against an object, you’re bound to get a mess. It wouldn’t be as clean as a stab from a sword or a shot from an arrow.

From Flux’s point of view, being killed by an axe is almost ironic. He was killed exactly the way he killed others; a large force meeting an individual. For such an eloquent and formal character, his death would be the complete opposite.

But when you see Saps’ point of view, there’s room for hesitation. There’s a chance for him to be unsure about his attack, only for the axe to follow laws of physics first and foremost. There wouldn’t be enough time to stop, as everything could’ve happen in a matter of seconds; the initial swing, the second thoughts, the impact, the regret. Laws of physics don’t bend to anyone’s will, and unfortunately Saps had been a victim to that realization.

Or, I romanticize the concept of centrifugal force and newton’s third law of motion

Zu, it's so sad. Like Blue decides to stop being a Star and give a chance for Dust to be free. But Dust probably thinks it's a trap for Blue. Like if he accepts, Nightmare can possibly find them and makes Blue suffer before his eyes (the worst torture he can do against Dust) ((T_T))

Maybe he thinks he doesn't ever deserve it because alike Blue, he kills his brother and almost every monster in his Au, and a lot in other's (/´△`＼)

AU where Zuko and Iroh join up with the gang in Book 2 while they're fugitives in the Earth Kingdom. Except when they get to Ba Sing Se, Azula doesn't realise this and still offers to take Zuko make to the Fire Palace

Zuko says yes and spends all of Book 3 acting as a spy in the Fire Palace

He requisitions Suki from the Boiling Rock to "question her" and just never sends her back.

Suki spends the entire arc up to the Day of Black Sun deeply, deeply disbelieving that Zuko is actually on their side but playing along until she can escape. She thinks he's playing some kind of 4D chess when really all those questions about the Gaang are because he's afraid they won't actually want him as a friend after all this, well obviously they're friends, or they were, but what if they change their minds, especially when they see his dad, oh Agni do they know that he looks exactly like his dad? Except for the dad-hand scar?--

Suki is straight up ready to club him in the back of the head and escape when she sees that sky bison coming down.

Sokka: Oh great, you and Zuko are already friends!

Suki: *quietly aborts murder attempt, and redirects it to Ozai*

oh can you imagine Azula's seething fury though. Suki was her favorite prisoner! Azula does not share her toys well, and Zuko knows that. It might even work to his advantage: if the "questioning" excuse doesn't hold up, Azula might still believe that Zuko is actually keeping Suki just to spite her personally. a bold move in trying to reestablish the pecking order. Time away has made sweet zuzu more cutthroat.

Suki doesn't believe that Zuko could actually be working for team Avatar until she finds out that Zuko has strategically arranged for the other captured kyoshi warriors to be moved to a closer holding facility. The one in the capital. The same one as his uncle who helpful assists the girls with breaking out on the day of black sun.

Okay but IMAGINE, Azula and Zuko playing tug-of-war with who gets custody today to "interrogate" her

And Suki caught in the middle

When it's Zuko's turn, he's trying so hard to be Interested In Her Life And Hobbies that it really DOES feel like an interrogation. A really weird one, but still, obviously this fake get-to-know-you front is to lower her guard for the REAL questions, so she stays vigilant

But when it's Azula's turn with the Suki ball, she straight up tells her, "I have requested your presence today to spite my brother. Stand to the side and don't get in my way and look miserable if father or Zuko is watching."

So it's a day of following Azula to training and politicking and smack-talk with Mai and Suki

So what I'm saying is:

Suki and the Danger Ladies, absolutely bonding over how stupid War Minister Fire's plan is

(Suki is frantically trying to keep Earth Kingdom casualties down)

(Azula is trying to limit the unnecessary expenditure of Fire Nation resources)

Zuko: Those RESOURCES are PEOPLE, Azula.

Azula: And they're mine. Father isn't going to live forever, after all, and I would prefer not to inherit a broken game set.

Zuko: ...

Azula: Yes, brother. This is how you play the game without wagering half your face.

Suki: ...Hey. You know what would end the game with even more pieces intact? Ending it sooner

Azula: Very astute, peasant. We have been trying that for a hundred years

Suki: Maybe you've been playing the wrong end game strategy

Zuko: *tentatively reaches out, and tips over Azula's king*

Which is to say: Suki/Azula/Zuko pact to murder Ozai, except Suki and Azula STILL think Zuko is a spy for Ozai, so they're feeding him false info

Concept: Aang takes the gaang into the spirit world to help him deal with A Thing. Except he’s never brought multiple people into the spirit realm before and so he mucks it up on the return trip - and everyone ends up swapping bending abilities

I love all of your thoughts but this is how I see it going down:

Toph loses her earthbending and absolutely freaks out, until she realises she can now firebend. Toph without her earth sense but with fire? Terrifying

Zuko sits down to teach her. He teaches her to feel that strange flame inside her chest, and holy shit, she can feel the same heat around her. Agni in the sky, the flames flickering in lanterns, her friends around her. She might not have her earth sense, but she can feel where everyone is and see how strong and alive their fire-spirits are. It helps.

She also quickly discovers the joy of throwing fire next-to-but-not-directly-on people and hearing them shriek like little babies. It’s amazing.

Sokka gets Katara’s waterbending as karma for all the times he called it dumb water magic. She laughs and he threatens to douse her in cold water and see how SHE likes it and it’s a whole thing - until she starts teaching him. And then Sokka gets to participate in a part of their culture that was always out of reach for him. He gets to feel physically connected to the water and to the moon, to Yue, in a way he never has before. Katara gets to share this huge part of her life with her brother. It brings them closer as siblings.

Katara gets earthbending. She struggles to pick it up at first since it’s different from the fluid motions she’s used to. Aang gives her a loving speech about how it’s okay, they all take time, look at how difficult it was for him to learn! And then Toph calls her a little bitch and tells her to bend her damn knees more and Katara rage-bends half the mountain. Aang shuts up. Toph screams her head off in support

Everyone discovers their new bending pretty quick, so Zuko figures he’s the nonbender now. Not a big deal. He can fight without bending, and Sokka isn’t any less badass for not being a bender–

And then he sneezes and gets propelled out a window

He’s the Avatar now.

He spent 3 years frantically hunting the Avatar and now he IS the Avatar. This is clearly some kind of cosmic joke. He’s already the Fire Lord, he doesn’t have time to learn three extra elements and maintain peace and harmony around the world, he can’t even maintain peace and harmony among his goddamn nobility

Aang tries to calm him down by patting him on the back and offering to teach him his signature marble trick and Zuko is so close to a breakdown at that point that he just stares blankly at him and says, “That would be nice”

Concept: Zuko is unused to receiving compliments, so he assumes any and all compliments he receives are attempts to manipulate him or curry favour now that he's the Fire Lord

(Unless Iroh or the gaang give him a compliment, then he's overcome with embarrassment and quiet happiness)

Zuko starts an "anonymous suggestions box" in the palace for people to share complaints and reports of harassment, because of the culture of fear still lingering within the palace after the war

He thinks it works great - UNTIL people start stuffing it with compliments because literally the only way he'll accept kind words is if they're give anonymously

Early Book 3 gaang accidentally pisses off a powerful spirit who retaliates by throwing them at the feet of the Fire Lord - just not the current Fire Lord. Maybe another spirit intervenes to save them. Maybe the spirit is just bad at using their immense power and overshot it. Maybe the spirit just thought it'd be funny. Either way, the gaang come face to face with Fire Lord Zuko sitting in his own bedroom, almost 30 years and still dressed in his sleep robes.

Safe to say it doesn't go well.

Katara freezes Zuko to his bedroom wall and they high tail it out of the Fire Palace. No one tries to fight them. The guards stationed at the palace walls see them coming and open the gates for them?? Sokka swears one of them wished him a good morning as they ran by?? And greeted him by name????

It takes them a while to figure out what's going on, and then even longer before they actually believe it. The townsfolk are happy and thriving in a way Aang remembers from before Sozin's reign. There's no whispers of war. No double-takes at their brightly coloured clothing. No guards chasing them down. And everywhere, on every street corner, they talk about Zuko.

Zuko eventually tracks them down, alone and unarmed. He's so different to the angry 16yo they remember. Older, and calmer, and kinder. And when the gaang refuses to return to the Fire Palace (because there's NO WAY they're going to fall for that trap, nuh uh, no way), Zuko decides to come with them. They try to argue- until he pulls out his heavy coin purse and offers to bank-roll their journey.

And that's how the teenage gaang ends up on roadtrip with the future Fire Lord.

The gaang are VERY distrustful and angry and occasionally aggressive. They're traumatised kids displayed over a decade in time (for Aang, it's the SECOND time he's been displayed in time, and it's bringing up a lot of trauma he never got a chance to deal with). Zuko draws on everything he's learnt from Uncle. He's patient and doesn't push. He lets them rage and doesn't raise to the bait when they throw Ozai or Azula in his face. And eventually, they come to open up and trust him - first Aang and Toph, then eventually Sokka and Katara. The gaang get to journey with an adult they can actually trust, who doesn't patronise them or expect them to be soldiers. Someone reliable.

Internally, Zuko is extremely freaked out by the baby versions of his friends, but he's doing his best not to let that show. He always knew they were too young for war, but having to stare at their little faces every day? God.

Also: Please picture the reactions of everyone else who encounters this ragtag group as they search for answers on how to send the baby!gaang home. Are those extremely stressed out kids okay?? Why is one of them cosplaying the Avatar? ........Is that the Fire Lord sitting with them????
