That was a genuinely strong episode of Knot - and not just because Boat/Oat delivered, though Oat in particular was phenomenal. What really hit was the storyline itself. Phat is someone who had a simple, ordinary life mapped out: work, stability, nothing extraordinary. Then he’s violently yanked into a hidden world where he loses not only his freedom but his bodily autonomy. Overnight he’s reclassified into a role he never asked for, expected to be submissive, dependent, and defined by a biological “type” he didn’t even know existed.
The political resonance of that is hard to ignore. He’s suddenly told he can get pregnant, that being a “pure omega” makes him a target for breeding, that his existence is now shaped by a trait he never consented to or even understood. It’s a complete erasure of agency. And Phat doesn’t want this responsibility, this identity, this life - yet he’s forced into it.
Oat plays every layer of that shock, confusion, and reluctant acceptance with such precision. The shower scene is the standout: the panic in his eyes, the way his body betrays him, the shame that hits when he finally realises what’s happening. It’s visceral. It’s uncomfortable. And it works as a kind of allegory for queer self-recognition- being confronted with something intrinsic, overwhelming, and socially loaded before you’re ready to face it.
Knot is doing something genuinely compelling here, and Oat’s performance is the anchor that makes the whole thing land.
