Is the gameplay intuitive?
No. You have to have seen the Pokemon shows to understand how to throw a Pokeball at the Pokemon. If you have not seen the show, winding up the ball in a circle before throwing it will make no sense at all.
Is the gameplay patterned?
Yes. You just grind to level up: catch Pokemon and level them up.
What does the type of graphic approach used as well as the audio tell you about the limits of the technology at the time the game was published?
The Pokemon are in 3D and the map is a blue overcast over the default phone app's map. Since, the graphics are not too detailed, phones in 2017 are not as powerful as desktop computers whether phones are bottle-necking in networking, graphics engine, processing capacity, and/or other areas.
Describe your views about the game from the point of view of:
1) Ease of play: It is fairly easy to catch pokemon. There are ways to increase your chances of catching them via winding the ball, throwing berries, and using better balls.
2) Enjoyability: It is ok to play casually, especially if you have a knack for exploration and collecting. If your goal is to level up and you don't like grinding, this game is not for you.
3) Engagement/Immersion: This game will occationally make you go outside for a walk and make you want to go to places you haven't gone yet. This type of immersion is spatial because you are in a virtual reality.
Had you played this game prior to this time? If so, when?
I started casually playing in July of 2016. I still play this game.
Describe other games it reminds you of. How does it do this?
This game reminds me of Pokemon DS because the catching part has the same graphics except I am tossing the Pokemon with my finger on my phone and walking in real life.
