these CREATINS are exceedingly more evil than sharks, so it confuses me as to why sharks get all the backlash. dolphins literally r--e other dolphins and eels are like suuuuuper bad

the chances of being attacked by a shark when you're just swimming is relatively low and like as long as you don't disturb them they don't want anything to do with you for the most part. the only time they attack is usually when they feel threatened or if they're confused, and they usually don't mean to hurt humans. they don't even associate human blood with food so like idk who told you that but they're 🚫WRONG!!! *loud incorrect buzzer*🚫

sharks are pretty much just big fishes who are really cool and sharp and good at hunting because they're predatorial animals, but they're good natured. 🦈🩵

-- Human Impacts on Sharks --

• overfishing - fishes aren't able to reproduce fast enough to keep a balance within the ecosystem due to humans taking too many of them. this affects sharks HEAVILY (they're literally one of the most affected species) because they don't have enough food due to there being less fish in the ocean.

• pollution - do I even have to explain? habitat modification, climate change, tourism. THIS IS ALL NOT GOOD FOR THEM.

• shark finning - holy fuck you evil monsters. why the fuck.... okay. shark finning is when idiots illegally capture sharks, illegally cut off their fins, and RELEASE THEM BACK INTO THE WATER LIKE THAT. torturous; they're usually released while still alive too. this is so incredibly horrible for them because they literally can't survive due to being unable to swim properly and then they sink to the bottom of the ocean where they SUFFOCATE.

Name deriving from Alberta and nectes is a Greek word for "swimmer"

Carnivores, specifically piscivores, eating fish with their long necks

Total length of ~37 ft and their necks themselves were ~23 ft with 76 neck vertebraes making it the longest necked animal of elasmosaurs

Discovered by Tai Kubo, Mark T. Mitchell, and Donald M. Henderson in 2012

I researched for a while and have been reading on them for a while now and this is all the informatiom I could find :( if you know anything else i would love to collect more facts to know !!
