the blood vines arc (stream masterlist)

spoilers kept to a minimum (stream names may give stuff away)
so you want to watch the blood vines arc and/or need to catch up because it’s relevant to the SMP as a whole, but you missed the important lore streams and now don’t know how to start? here’s the post for you!! a cobbled-together list of any streams that mention/involve the blood vines arc. i tried to get timestamps for as many streams as i had the patience to, since some of these streams can be pretty long. i also tried to do a little vague summary of how relevant the crimson was in the stream. i started putting this together two years ago wtf
NOTE: as the number of streamers and vods that involve the blood vines arc grows, i am very, very likely going to miss some, especially those where the lore is incidental/tangential to the rest of the stream. if i do, let me know about through dms with a link to the vod, and if possible how you think i should mark the stream, a brief description of how much lore is in said vod, and (if you have them/if the stream needs them) timestamps.
THE STORYLINES PRESENT: with regards to the story, there are two plotlines being documented here. one, the blood vines storyline as a whole, also referred to as the eggpire/crimson arc, which is its own major storyline within the dream smp. there is also the red skeppy plot, a sideplot tied closely to the blood vines arc. the crimson plays a pretty big role in it, and it sets up some important plot beats for the greater blood vines arc.
also, as of 5/13/21, i separated the list of vods into distinct “eras” in order to make the list of vods easier to navigate
HOW THE STREAMS ARE MARKED:
bolded streams in which the blood vines plot moves forward in such a way that is unmissable or will be very important in how it affects the plot.
non-bold, non-italicized streams, blood vines story is the focus of the stream, or at the least a part of it, without the plot being developed in a major, unmissable way.
italicized streams are not crimson-focused, but i left them in because the blood vines plot played at least a small role or appeared in the stream.
*asterisked streams means that, like the non-bold/italicized streams they don’t contain any major unmissable plot developments to the blood vines arc, but i recommend you watch the vod as it adds to the pacing of the story or i think that they’re cool.
streams marked with ‘RED SKEPPY ARC’ are vods specifically relevant to that sideplot, though they will also be marked according to their relevancy to the whole blood vines arc as well.
MISSING STREAMS AND TIMESTAMPS: i’m probably missing some less plot-important streams, and i have intentionally left out some streams that overlap with other streams that contained more of a focus on the blood vines/lore (though in most cases i do link to them). some of my timestamps may not be accurate, and some may be missing timestamps (though that’s usually it’s because it starts off with the crimson plot, the crimson is really interspersed with other stuff, and/or it’s worth your while to watch the whole vod). if there are any streams you think i should add, let me know through dms or via ask. as the egg may get mentioned in streams more often, streams where it is just barely mentioned offhand will likely be overlooked or not added as the number of lore streams on the list grows.
any streams in this arc that come out after this is posted will be added to this masterlist via edit and i will reblog the post with a notice that the update has occurred!

THE CRIMSON GROWTH - 12/6/20 to 12/11/20
the early days of the blood vines arc, where our story begins.
What did I discover - Dream SMP (BadBoyHalo) the first really important stream involving the crimson. it had appeared in the background of other streams, and i’m pretty sure bad mentioned seeing it in his saturday youtube livestream, but this is when the plot actually starts. in between the crimson plot, he works on the prison with dream and awesam.
Dream smp BUILDING A CASINO (DropsByPonk) - ponk discovers lil red (a crimson growth) in the area he’s building his casino.
*PRISON BUILDING -> GUARD ROOM (awesamdude, timestamps: 00:03:00 to 00:14:05, then 01:34:00) - sam discovers the crimson hidden in his house. a fight occurs. i’m not entirely sure whether this or puffy’s stream from the seventh comes first.
*Detective of Chaos & Knight of the Realm! (CaptainPuffy) - Puffy gets possessed. she spends a good amount of time gushing about the egg and spreading its vines, from like the start of the stream. eventually she goes to do other things. not sure how plot relevant it is, but does it introduce her involvement in the plot.
*Meming around L'Manberg (Antfrost - timestamps: 00:13:15 to 00:54:00, then 02:44:30 to 03:06:00, then 03:34:00 to uhh idk)- has lore about how the vines function. awesamdude and punz had some overlap as they were streaming as well, but ant and bad have pretty much all of the crimson arc stuff that that sam and punz were involved in, as well as quite a bit more after that.
*PRISON BUILDING -> GUARD ROOM (awesamdude, timestamps: 00:14:00 to 00:45:00) - sam’s perspective. i put it here because it’s very funny to watch from sam’s perspective.
lil RED is growing! (DropsByPonk) - crimson stuff happens. awesam and ponk together!! lil red grows like the title says :P
PRISON CONSTRUCTION TIME (awesamdude, timestamp: 01:08:00 to 01:43:00) - sets up stuff that becomes relevant in later streams, skeppy’s introduction to the crimson arc.
EGGS & BLOODVINES w/ BBH (CaptainPuffy, timestamp: 00:13:30 to 00:44:00) - there’s some blood vines stuff at the start of the stream then puffy and bad spend far too long talking about pee. after the beginning section, no real blood vines content happens.
Discount Skeppy meets REAL SKEPPY! - RED SKEPPY ARC - (CaptainPuffy, timestamp: skeppy and bad join the call around 00:20:00) - this one has a lot of plot-important crimson stuff and hoo boy is it a ride. it starts out with the discount skeppy bit, which eventually transitions into the plot, so i’d say just watch it.
BIG RED (DropsByPonk, timestamp: 00:12:30 to 00:26:00) - ponk’s lil red has GROWN.
WE MUST FREE SKEPPY - RED SKEPPY ARC - (BadBoyHalo) - not going to spoil anything, it’s entirely plot-focused. when bad ends stream, go to CaptainPuffy’s stream
DreamSMP - SKEPPY IS CURSED at the timestamp of 01:35:00 to 02:02:00ish. it’s not like. important plot points and such but it is still part of the storyline, you know? at 02:35:00, bad rejoins the call and hounds awesam for tridents, but the crimson plot was only really mentioned when in character, though they did talk about it out of character. those mentions still hurted though.
INVESTIGATION AND EXPERIMENTATION - 12/20/20 to 3/2/21
an arc that creates quite a bit of tension and really starts to create the lore surrounding the egg, this era is characterized by attempts to learn and discover more.
INVESTIGATING THE EGG (BadBoyHalo) - tthe meat of the plot stuff was at the start, though he does go back to check on the egg later, revealing out of character that the crimson egg storyline is relevant to the plot of the smp as a whole, though the red skeppy plot specifically is a sideplot.
Experimenting with The Crimson (Antfrost) - all important lore i think? idk i missed it which is super tragic. will rewatch it and add a more detailed description if one is needed!! (link to a clip of it on yt)
WE ARE GONNA CRACK THE EGG (BadBoyHalo) - again pretty sure it’s all important lore that i have to go back and watch so i can report back to y’all bc i missed it.
WE ARE DOING IT (BadBoyHalo) - i missed this one too god i’m so sad but i’m pretty sure it is lore relevant
THE RISE OF THE EGGPIRE - 1/15/21 to 4/7/21
our longest section so far, the rise of the eggpire encompasses its formation, as well as the introduction of several previously uninvolved characters to the eggpire arc.
IM BACKKKKKK - RED SKEPPY ARC - (Antfrost - i think lore starts near the start of stream, if you want to avoid the weird stuff leave when skeppy rejoins while they’re at/near the prime church) - uh. this vod is… interesting to say the least? it focuses on the red!skeppy sidearc for the majority of it. it’s asterisked because it sets up some stuff that becomes relevant in later streams. as the stream progresses, fair warning, it gets incredibly weird. like, really weird. if you want to skip the weird stuff, just stop after skeppy rejoins the game. it’s just incredibly strange development for the red!skeppy stuff that is basically just skeppy fucking around, you’re not missing anything. (some clips of the stream on yt here and here since i don’t have the vod FOUND IT internet archive my beloved)
ITS GOING DOWN (egg) (BadBoyHalo) - this stream is so important as this is the stream where it really starts to get relevant to the smp as a whole. watch it. ALSO. puffy was streaming concurrently.
LONG LIVE THE EGGPIRE (BadBoyHalo) - entirely eggpire-focused, but no real plot development occurs. Foolish Gamers is involved at one point and becomes aware of the eggpire, but other than that not much really happens. bad asks for eggpire propoganda pro-egg art to put up around the server to encourage people to love the egg.
*THE EGGPIRE (Antfrost) - lorechamp i will be honest i don’t remember this too hard but uhh it was def important. eventually he goes hunting for totems with puffy.
Dream SMP - What totem powers do I have (Foolish__Gamers - Timestamp: 55:18) - sam and foolish talk about the Egg and then go to the casino to look at Little Red which has turned green
HE’S BACK!!!!!!!! (Fundy) - fundy ties the dreamon lore to the egg, something that with any luck will become relevant!!!!! i will cry if it doesn’t. i will. the lore mostly stops when tommy tells him to leave the VC. unbolded 3/30/21 but know that the fact that i couldn’t leave it bolded makes me sad
*SOMETHING WEIRD IS GOING ON (tommyinnit) - most the first part of this stream is blood vines related. asterisked because although it sets up some stuff that becomes important later, it’s not strictly necessary.
TAKING CARE OF SAM (BadBoyHalo) - everyone say thank you bad for making a highlight with just the lore section of the stream. king behavior. puffy also streamed this and did some more lore after, but it wasn’t specifically blood vines-related lore so i didn’t link directly to this.
Rescue Mission!!! (CaptainPuffy) - all lore development, though once puffy is alone it’s a lot less focused on the blood vine arc specifically and more on puffy’s individual development. linked puffy’s not tommy’s because hers is more lore-focused overall.
Dream SMP - I think I want diamonds… (Foolish__Gamers) - foolish’s pov of puffy’s stream!
*I AM SUFFERING... (awesamdude) - all lore, all poggers. runs at the same time as puffy and tommy’s streams from the same day for the most part but i linked it bc its very epic.
Speedrun Showdown w/Punz (Antfrost - gets on the dream smp about halfway through, a little before 03:00:00) - some important lore stuff that becomes/will likely become important later, some blood vines stuff that is not that important. no existing vod on youtube or clips i could find
*Egg’s are cool now? idk (DropsByPonk) - okay i will admit that this is probably not lore development-y enough to bold but ponk is too pog not to. man deserves the whole world.
WE NEED TO ARMOR UP (Foolish__Gamers) - lore starts at 1:48:16, again at 2:26:42. this is foolish’s first major involvement in the blood vines arc, or any big arc for that matter, and that is INCREDIBLY epic.
TALKING TO THE EGG (BadBoyHalo) - if i could bold this one even more i would. the lore. the roleplay. the vibes. this stream legit made me weep. just a little. one of the most important streams so far. all the lore is at the start of the stream, and it’s pretty obvious when it’s over. bad does some behind the scenes on the arc afterwards, though at one point he does take some time to roleplay with punz.
*TNT GOES KABOOM!! (Fundy) - i’ll be honest i don’t remember how much of this is lore and when it started because i was too swept up in the euphoria of fundy being live. he blows up a bunch of the vines. once he’s done tubbo picks up on the blood vines lore later. (1/27/21)
*Total chill stream nothing secretive here nope :) (Philza)- did a great deal of it concurrently with fundy, as well as some blood vines lore on his own, but again, i don’t know the exact timestamps bc i was hyperfixating too hard on fundy. (1/27/21)
*RUN RUN RUN RUN! (Tubbo) - again, ran concurrently for a large part with phil and fundy, however he got involved with the lore far later than either of the previous two. once fundy is done with the blood vines lore on his stream, switch over to tubbo’s and he does some lore things with ranboo. sets up some stuff that could become important later.
THE EGG FOUND MY HOUSE (Foolish__Gamers) - most of the egg lore happens at the beginning of the stream, more at 18:24 and 51:17
IT’S GOT WEIRD (tommyinnit) - tommy is instucted to ask around about the vines by sam nook at the end of the stream but that’s really it. not really necessary.
I should be safe from the egg now (Foolish__Gamers) - the lore is at 19:17 and 1:56:10. some egg stuff, mostly building :D
*THIS IS EPIC… (GeorgeNotFound) - timestamp(s): blood vines stuff happens circa 02:43:00 - the fact that i am adding a georgnotfound vod to this list is… staggering, which is why i have slapped a lil asterisk on it. it also brings sapnap back towards the blood vines arc.

*i’m back! (tommyinnit) - yeah this ones got lore!! starts out tangential but like. introduces some stuff later that might become more important later on. mostly right now it’s just important to tommy’s role in the eggpire arc and not really the arc as a whole though.

*Tales From the SMP Presents: The Masquerade (karljacobs) - while this is a fantastic stream and karl did a great job, it’s not neccessary to understand the blood vines arc. still would reccomend you give it a watch though, it’s a lot of fun!
*THE EGG?! (CaptainPuffy - lore starts circa 00:40:00) not entirely necessary for the lore but it helps you understand puffy’s character better.

NEW PLAYERS & POLARIZATION - ¾/21 to 3/31/21
people are starting to get involves with the story at a very fast rate, either for or against the eggpire. side plots with regards to the individual characters’ stories really start to develop alongside the arc as well.
The Egg is now My Problem (Foolish__Gamers) - this is super important to foolish’s lore and his involvement in the eggpire arc as far as i remember and it’s so exciting!!
Turtle or Tortise I’m always correct (DropsByPonk) - SO. the original vod in which ponk joined the egg was deleted very soon after the stream ended, and i sadly both missed it and do not have any clips or links of it. this is the stream that came after. i’m not sure if this is as lore-y as the deleted one was, but it is the first stream we see of ponk as an actual member of the eggpire so. yeah.

The EGG is on the attack (Foolish__Gamers) this is VERY important both wrt the egg and wrt foolish’s own lore. all the lore is at the start of the vod and it is very clear when he finishes streaming.
BIG MOVES (Tubbo) - while it contains its own lore, there is a decent portion of it that runs concurrently with foolish’s vod, however they get a very different perspecive on the same events and i would recommend watching it.
the next two were later in the evening and run one directly after the other

VISITING DREAM (Quackity) - all the blood vines stuff is in the very first section of the stream, starting circa 00:08:30, and it’s easy to tell when it ends. not neccessary to understand the blood vines plot, but it sets tone and pacing in a really great way and sets up quackity’s involvement in the arc in the future, and is bolded for this reason.
THE EGG MUST DIE!!! (Eret) - FUCK YES ERET AND FOOLISH LORE we stay winning. real talk though this vod is pretty important wrt eret and foolish’s participation in the egg lore and it’s v epic

i know the red banquet was mentioned before this, but this is when the buzz around the event really picks up as the date of the event draws closer & it moves to the forefront of the story
*GIVING OUT BANQUET INVITES (BadBoyHalo) - not entirely necessary for lore, but it adds to the pacing and explains why certain people do what they do later in the arc
800k followers today (Foolish__Gamers) - timestamp: 18:11 - not very lore heavy, foolsih cleans up blood vines
MY ENEMIES. (Quackity, timestamp: 00:35:55) - while the blood vines specific part comes at the listed timestamp, i’d recommend watching the whole stream because it is just so well-done. if you don’t want to, it’s easy to tell when the egg lore ends.
Lore Stream ft. Skeppy (BadBoyHalo) - this one is short but please, please watch it. this one is absolutely necessary and so good
Dream SMP but it’s 1.17?! (CaptainPuffy, timestamp: 1:35:25) - bad raided her after his stream, and he joins the vc at 1:35:25, and together do a bit of improv lore. you don’t need to watch it but it’s interesting to see the aftermath of bad’s stream.
Picking a suit for the Red Banquet (Foolish__Gamers) - foolish picks a suit! mostly just one of foolish’s usual vibey streams but he does do a lot of discussion of the banquet (here’s a clip of him looking at the skins!)
*A Banquet Discussion… (CaptainPuffy) - i’d recommend you watch it, though it’s not neccessary, as it adds to the pacing sets up some things that become important later on in the story.
*UNO With The Boys (Sapnap, timestamp: 01:32:00) - bad invites sapnap to the red banquet. it’s not neccessary to watch but i think that this likely will mean something to the plot later, and it’s interesting with regards to the relationship between sapnap and bad.
4/25/21 - THE RED BANQUET
Red Banquet (BadBoyHalo) - all lore. i reccommend you watch this one first because i’d say it’s my favorite, and the production value is so good. it contains the most lore of the three, particulary as bad is at the center of the egg arc. if you watch bad’s, there is a small portion of puffy’s after bad leaves the banquet that he isn’t there to witness, but it’s not neccessary to watch as it mostly just shows the aftermath for the guests.
*The Red Banquet… (CaptainPuffy) - all lore. i’d reccommend at least watching parts of puffy as well (like when her perspective diverges from bad’s), as it gives you a different (and fun) perspective as an invitee to the banquet. if for some reason you don’t want to watch bad’s, i’d say puffy’s would be the one to see.
The Red Banquet (Antfrost) - all lore. ant’s stream ends a lot sooner than the previous two, so you don’t really need to watch his unless you want to!
we beat the eggpire… but at what cost? (Eret) - the direct aftermath of the red banquet. not necessary to watch but it goes into eret & foolish’s relationship on the smp and the effects of the banquet on eret.
Another lovely day! (RanbooLive) - more of the aftermath of the banquet, ranboo discusses with sam what will happen to the egg after the banquet. i sadly do not have the right timestamps.

THE POST BANQUET LORE STREAM
this stream has not happened yet, and will likely be streamed by badboyhalo (or maybe even skeppy!), but chronologically this lore stream will be set here, after the red banquet. once it happens, i’ll add the listing here!
*Death? (Foolish__Gamers) - while i wouldn’t say this one is entirely necessary, i did debate making it bold. the egg does actually speak in it and it gives a really good look at foolish in the aftermath of the red banquet, and if you’ve watched that, you know why i personally would reccommend you watch this stream. (i found the vod for this stream, but here’s a clip of the stream i found when i didn’t have it anyways)
this stream was also the start of L’Sandburg, once foolish’s lore is over. for more info on that and vods for the l’sandburg story, i’m in the progress of making a seperate lore post since this one wouldn’t let me do that for some reason :/
From “Mother” to “Monster” (CaptainPuffy) - not neccessary, mostly to do with puffy’s own lore and her relationship to the red banquet arc. however is may help you understand her character’s actions more going forwards
IMPORTANT NOTE: at this point, i would highly recommend using my l’sandberg vod masterlist (in progress), as the l’sandberg plot is the direct continuation of the eggpire arc
Building a supreme fridge (DropsByPonk) - ponk and foolish have a discussion, important to the characters interpersonal relationships and reveals some information about ponk’s perspective on the banquet
Summer Home megabuild continues (Foolish_Gamers) - this is important to foolish’s storyline in relation to the egg arc, but not to the arc as a whole. if you’re invested in foolish’s arc, this is probably a good vod to watch
*Confrontations (Antfrost) - antfrost has a talk with bad and puffy. i’d reccomend this one, as it gives a really good look at how different people are dealing with the aftermath of the egg
Short Dream SMP Animatics React Stream! (CaptainPuffy) - puffy spends the first part of this stream reacting to animatics, but gets on the smp around the 3 hour mark. puffy brings up what happened at the red banquet in relation to the current events surrounding l’sandberg.
*HANGING OUT ON THE DREAM SMP! (BadBoyHalo - timestamp: 00:27:00) - not neccessary for the egg lore just yet, and more related to l’sandberg (WHICH YOU SHOULD WATCH AS IT IS THE CONTINUATION OF THE EGGPIRE ARC), but sets up some stuff regarding the relationship between bad and skeppy post-egg and lays in motion what could become plot in the future. i’d bold this, but because the plot threads here haven’t played out yet, i’m not sure it’s time for that yet.

BDI (BIG DADDY ISLAND) STREAMS - skeppylive
so these might be lore relevant (we don’t know just how relevant though) so i’m putting them here. for the most part, they seem like bad and skeppy just hanging out on the dsmp together normally, but there have been clues and weird things that make it seem like they might have some relevance to the plot. these are only ever streamed by skeppy… hmm
bolded streams have some possibly lore-y moments. titles aren’t the actual titles, just the ones on the vod channel i’m using (unless someone in the comments said the actual title)
A RARE Skeppy Stream! - the first bdi stream. bad’s reasoning as to why they were going so far away was vague and let me tell you chat was spamming “LORE? IS THIS LORE?”. they hang out like normally for the most part. most recent previous actual eggpire stream was this stream of antfrost’s, (might be expired i need to check) and at this point, both bad and skeppy are under the influence of the egg.
skeppy fails at streaming and then gives up :) - again the usual bad and skeppy shennanigans, starts as just skeppy but he calls bad partway through. no actually lore-related streams since before the first bdi stream.
doing stuff on dream smp with bbh - exactly what it says on the tin. it’s fun to watch beyond being lore bc bbh and skeppy hanging out together is just. muah
Dream SMP w/ BadBoyHalo - bad and skeppy hang out together! i genuinely considered putting this stream on the actual masterlist because this really fucking feels like actual lore, though that’s probably because skeppy was like “hey guys do you want me to make this lore” and started acting his heart out. some moments are at 00:09:15 and 00:15:42. there may be more lore-y bits but i can’t rewatch the whole stream atm.
big daddy island also appears at the end of this stream of bad’s from 4/18/21 which is a very important lore stream and the reason i added this list of bdi streams
since the story arc isn’t over yet, i’ll list some of the people currently most involved in the lore, though at this point given its scope it’s fair to say that pretty much every character has been or will be involved at some point in the future.
