beautiful stranger.
the way hayden’s eyes remain locked with andy’s feels like a challenge, her mention of the women gathered across the room not even making him bat an eyelash. he’s young and playful, filled with life and with so much left of it ahead of him. she was nothing but a BAD OMEN and she shouldn’t be indulging herself, but she can’t draw her attention away from the handsome boy. ❝what you do and whom you do it with sir, is none of my concern.❞ she maintains a FALSE INDIFFERENCE, trying not to show how unsettled she is by the warmth of his hands as he takes hers. his effort to share that heat with her was endearing, if not unknowingly misguided. when hayden finally does turn to acknowledge his fans, andy uses the moment to gather her COMPOSURE. though still unable to find her resolve, and not performing the vanishing act that she should. when he turns his hazel eyes back on her she’s nearly hypnotized by his easy CONFIDENCE and self-assurance. his appetite is clear, his desire perfuming the air as he leans toward her and tucks a few wayward strands of dark hair behind her ear. the touch was more INTIMATE than any she’d had in decades and it left her feeling breathless. of course, hayden wanted to uproot their intimate conversation to a more PRIVATE venue and the hunger gnawing at andy agreed with him. he was like a rabbit unknowingly trying to get a fox alone, not sensing that he should flee. it wasn’t his fault, her CONDITION meant to make her alluring and captivating to her prey. ❝hmm,❞ his proposal shouldn’t even be a consideration, and yet she’s thinking about risking a test of her self-control. ❝did you have somewhere SPECIAL in mind?❞
hayden knows better than to believe a woman when she says she doesn't care; especially when it is so obvious she is interested. captive gaze stays locked with andy’s as she maintains eye contact, the low tone of her voice drawing hayden in closer. where did he have in mind? anywhere. anyplace the two of them can get to know each other without an audience. usually hayden’s encounters have very few complaints about where they do what they do. andy isn’t one of his usual encounters; her sophisticated aura communicates the need for somewhere more refined than a wall in the ally behind the club. if this was a date, hayden would invite andy back to his place for a nightcap. they are nowhere near hayden’s apartment and he is still energized from his performance. the gratification of a good show courses through his veins and he isn’t ready to call it a night. a quick reference of his mental map of the city tells hayden that his favorite after hours jazz lounge is a block away and very intimate. hungry eyes delight in the prospect of hands feasting on what lies beneath andy’s dress. voice heavy with desire, “i get the feeling anywhere you are is a very special place.” dark brows raise, head tilting to one side as his eyes study the red bow of andy’s lips before returning to mesmerizing gray, “though i do have a somewhere in mind,” taking his hands from andy’s is not an easy feat, the chill of her skin is left lingering on his palms. slender fingers wrap around his drink, the cool condensation sends a thrill down hayden’s spine as he intensifies the fire of his desire with liquid courage. hayden takes his time to empty his glass, enjoying the burn of whiskey as his carnal craving grows. hazel eyes appraise the young woman across from him, memorizing every inch of silvery skin glowing warmly under the dim lights.
hayden’s thoughts yield to fantasies of his lips on every inch of skin obscured by dark cloth. a few deep breaths are weak attempts to cool himself as passion stirs in his jeans. leaning to one side, hayden slides his wallet from his back pocket to set some cash onto the table. the anticipation of one on one time with andrea warms hayden from the inside as he lifts himself from his seat and onto his feet. hayden has never been so completely hypnotized by a woman before, the electricity of his appetite leaves the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end. ignoring the growl of his empty stomach, he can worry about filling his stomach once the agony of his lusty yearning is satiated, hayden gestures toward the exit with his arm, “after you.”

Margaret Qualley by Daria Kobayashi Ritch for Hunger Magazine
Oh man. Looking at you makes me stupid. I get obsessed with the smallest things. How you look while examining your fingernails. When you stretch, the curve of your neck. The slip of your spine. How wonderful. How enchanting.
You look up. Wrinkle your nose. “Why are you staring?”
I get wordless. All tangled heat and longing. I wanna build a universe where we never get out of bed. I wanna crawl into your arms like ivy, catch your laughter from the air and spin it into a blanket. You make me feel like I’m moss on a tree which is to say you make me feel like I’m home and where I’m supposed to be. Around you I trap sunlight. I want to tell you the inside of the forest you planted in me.
Open my mouth. “You’re a nerd.”
Classy.
“But he is remarkably humble. Back in New York, over the phone, he immediately apologises for keeping me waiting (all of two minutes). He’s unfailingly polite, thoughtful, and gives credit where it is due at every turn, most often to others.”
