Life update 4/1/17
Hello! I don’t know if anyone still looks at this stuff. I’ve barely been active in a year, so I assume not, but in case anyone does, today is my twentieth birthday so I thought I’d give y’all a little life update.
tw/cw: suicide, mental health, depression, anxiety, college
- Four years ago, I planned to commit suicide the day after graduating high school. Two years later, I decided to expedite the process. I gave up on the attempt halfway through.
- My girlfriend of nearly two years and I broke up last summer. No hard feelings, we ended as friends.
- I’m now dating my favorite person and my best friend. She’s nuts and exciting and incredibly smart and ambitious and beautiful and I’m so lucky she let me be a part of her life.
- As it stands, I’m about 86 pages deep in my first feature length screenplay. Writing is hard.
- I’m planning an animated short film for this summer.
- I had my first job last summer. Washing dishes at a restaurant. It was probably the best, most lax job I’ll have for a while, and it was a great learning experience.
- I’ve taken my first real road trip just last weekend.
- I’ve been to court twice over a stupid traffic law I broke because I’m dumb. (it’s all good now)
- Depression is eating at my fucking soul but I’m alive and I have friends and family who care about me and love me.
- I’m gonna graduate on time.
- I’m alive. I’m alive. I’m alive. I’m alive. I’m alive. I’m alive.
- I’m going to my first concert with my girlfriend tonight. (Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers) She’s too good to me and too good for me.
- I’ve come a long way and I’ve still got a long way to go. I’m here. I almost didn’t live to read Tom King’s Vision or go to my first concert or see Yojimbo or kiss my girlfriend out by that pond on campus or listen to Kendrick for the first time or see Sufjan finally release a new album or see my sister graduate high school but I’m here now. I’m not planning on going anywhere any time soon. I’m here. It’s hard all the time, but I’m here. It’s hard but I keep going somehow. At this point, I think I’m pretty good at that.
- Thank you to everyone who helped me get here and stay here. Thanks to mom and dad and Kayla and Emily and Austin and Travis and Dom and Caroline and Nicole and Cassie and Kelli and Brenna and Morgan and Allison and Shelbey and Boomer and Sienna and Quinn and Giulianna and Holly and River. You’ve all helped so much if you don’t know it and I can’t thank you all enough. Thank you for being there and for not giving up on me and not letting me give up on myself. Thank you for your patience and love and understanding. I love you all. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
- So that’s that. I guess we’ll see if I ever get really active on here again. Thank you all for sticking around and reading if you have. I appreciate it. Thanks a million and love to you all.
