Flash(back): Valentine's Day (February 14th 2026)

Flash had been volunteering at the hospital as usual, but this time he was busy delivering candygrams to patients. Dressing up as Cupid wasn't exactly what you'd call appropriate for a hospital given the lack of canonical pants. So, instead, he just had the halo, wings and little plastic bow-and-arrow. He wasn't doing this one totally out of the goodness of his heart. Flash knew that Eilonwy was going to be working through the night and there was no way she was going to be free before the day ticked over to February 15th. Hence, the improvising.

One of his favourite nurses had clued him into when she was taking her break, and he waited patiently in the hall for her to come out. Armed with love's arrow and jello cup, he grinned brightly when he saw her. Eilonwy was a very busy and important doctor, you know. He was happy to have any time with her, stolen or otherwise. eilonwy hadn't much thought of the holiday in regards to herself. she had been caught up with work and making sure all the kids in the wards felt like they were included in the sweet holiday by dropping them off some colouring and a little chocolate for each of them. candygrams were going round to patients and the heart decorations that adorned the hallways and rooms were a lovely pop of colour to brighten up the place.

she had agreed to work a double to give carl valentine's day off with ellie, much to his protest but she insisted. working through her rounds, she was finishing up with a patient and said her goodbyes to leave the room to be met with flash in a cupid outfit. a smile found its way to her face "you are the sweetest person around. i'd love to share some jello with you, i hear the cafeteria are doing strawberry today"

"thank you very much, doc. i appreciate that," he grinned, looking a little too pleased with himself over eilonwy's compliment. "it's the nicest one i've ever been too. gotta say, though, i can't wait for the food. i'm starving."

"i'll make you a deal. if you don't get into any shenanigan related injuries here, you can have my dessert"

Hiro nodded along, making a mental note to maybe visit the hospital sometime. Kids always had the best ideas for how to make bots look cool, especially if they knew this much about colours. “Ohhh, I see. Those kids must be pretty knowledgeable then.” More knowledgeable than Hiro at least.

“You seem to like the more positive colours. Or so your top 2 say,” she hummed, “know what purple means? It’s one of my favourites so…”

eilonwy smiled and nodded "they are, some of them take their colours when colouring very seriously. we have colours all over the place, they come up in conversation a lot"

"i do, i think that's the optimist in me. i don't think my line of work can have a jaded person in it." she had to stay positive, kids could sense apprehension or negativity "depends on the shade but normally it's along the lines of bravery, power, wisdom and creativity"

Kronk couldn't imagine having to be that close to the issue. It wasn't like you could just walk away when it was your job. "That must have been hard. No, thankfully. I don't what I would do, if that were to change. Or god forbid, if something happened to me. I wouldn't want my family to worry. I'm sorry, if you don't want to talk about it I understand."

"it was. it feels more personal when it's someone you know who is in pain or suffering." it felt too personal. the stakes felt higher when it was a friend laying in front of her in a hospital bed. "i'm glad you didn't have to deal with any of that. unfortunately it's rarer than you'd think around here. i hope you or your loved ones never have to face something like that. it's okay, people are curious and have questions, i don't blame you or anyone else for asking about it"

for a time before she settled in redwood hollow, eilonwy was part of doctors without borders. she travelled to different places to provide medical assitance to those who needed it when access was limited - her areas all were emergency responses to things such as natural disasters or conflict zones.

the whole kidnapping thing when i was a child because of my corrupt father was pretty no bueno.

there are plenty of worst things that could happen and i'm choosing not to think about those.

Hiro hummed, nodding along to the other’s words. “Sounds like you’ve thought about this a lot.” She at least thought about it so much more than Hiro did with ‘it looked cool’. He smiled. “Got any other colours that are really meaningful to you?”

Maybe he’d even find a reason to end up liking a colour she previously disliked or, worse, didn’t care for.

"i talk about colours with some of the kids that come into the hospital as a form of distraction for them. you tend to pick up a lot of information about them over time" she smiled, with a soft shrug of her shoulders "i enjoy green, it symbolises luck, growth and prosperity. and i also like oranges and yellows. they're happiness, friendliness and optimism"

Honeymaren smiled back, but waved her off, politely. She was not necessarily a Rosie the Riveter type, but she could handle moving some furniture. What sort of lesbian would she be, if not?

"Really, it's alright. I've done a lot of home renovations, trust me. Now, where is this going?"

she appreciated the help that honeymaren had offered but that idn't mean she wanted the woman to hurt herself helping her move her antique dressing table. "thank you, if we can take it over to the far wall and place it there that would be great"

any of her close friends would break her. eilonwy's friends are her found family since she doesn't speak to her dad. it would be a devastating blow to her life if she lost any of them.

losing her dog gurgi is not something eilonwy even wants to think about.

she doesn't necessarily crave touch, but she does like physical touch when in a relationship. she's a hugger with her friends but on her day to day life, she's not over fussed about touch.

"i love baby blue. it represents innocence, calmness, serenity, and purity. it promotes relaxation and trust and is used to create a comfortable and gentle atmosphere. i like that it's bright but it's also calm. in a world where everything is a million miles an hour, it's nice to see there are some things designed to calm you down, no matter how simple"

what do their hands feel like: soft, calloused, trembling ?

eilonwy's hands are soft thanks to hand cream.

she's an avid hand cream user because she's constantly washing her hands and using hand sanitiser in the hospital. to avoid drying her skin out she uses hand cream to keep her skin intact and in good quality.

Kronk nodded slowly. That made a lot of sense. Still, he wondered if the woman had personal connections to anyone affected. "That's true... I suppose we'll all have to slowly work through our feelings about this. Did you know anyone that was harmed by it?"

"i did, know a few people that had been harmed really well and the rest i've known just in passing. i work at the hospital, i saw a lot close up. there were a few ones that were quite frightening more than the others. i wouldn't want anyone to have to go through that" she'd watched people lay in coma's for months and their loved ones tearfully sit by their bedsides begging for the other to wake up. it had been heart-wrenching to watch. "did you know anyone?"
