i am thou or whatever — team 11 steel round
The automatons, his mount, his friends’ weapons, they all shimmer and flicker before dissipating as new enemies and armaments take their place, once again. Perhaps he should have expected as such after damaging last round’s opponents so much, though that begs the question of how many more rounds they will have to endure. Didn’t Chrom undergo a similar incident while trapped by the Projectionist? He told me about it after we met once we had escaped the enchanted books; if I recall correctly, he said his team endured five rounds total. Then, this is the third round… which may mean we might have two more rounds to win after this. Well, I suppose there’s nothing for it. Please give us the strength to see this through, dear Ana-ojichan.
The weight of a shield lies strapped to his non-dominant arm, the same shield Midori wielded last round, and sheathed at his hip… too light for a sword, maybe a dagger? Glancing down at himself, the bluenette finds the uniform of a Nohrian servant and, ah yes, that is a dagger. Still no pegasus in sight for him, how disappointing. If this were an ordinary dream, he would have had dear old Kaito with him for every round, but it seems that’s not the case.
Nothing for it, then, but to take down their current foe as quickly as possible… but Shigure’s stomach swims with unease as he glances at the strange being before them. It’s a little too like the mad Silent Dragon and Melanthios for his taste, and he shakes his head, drawing his dagger. The lionheart—Eliwood, his name is Eliwood, he remembers now—alerts the party to the consequences of attacking the thing, while Velouria and Midori rally everyone with a bit of cheer. Despite himself, the teen quirks a small smile. Even if this dream is far from what he’d prefer, at least he has his friends to undertake this tribulation alongside him.
“Noted, and thank you.” Let us see how this thing fairs against a dagger and the power bestowed upon me by the dream.
Ochain Shield activates! Health restored: 1. Shigure: 9/10 HP
Roll Dagger: 3. Barely hit! Damage dealt: 2.5. Chosen: 0.5/10 HP
Reflect activates! Damage dealt: 2.5. Shigure: 6.5/10 HP
Prepared as he is for the retaliation, Shigure still grits his teeth against the sharp pain canceling out the soothing warmth of his shield. It’s more than he expected to feel considering his current choice of weapon, which means he must have some sort of skill in play, bolstering the damage he can inflict. Perhaps it was best I left a nasty scratch rather than outright kill it, although that would be nice if we could have ended its life sooner.
Roll counter: 11. Hit! Damage dealt: 1.5. Shigure: 5/10 HP
Of course, on top of having his strike reflected back at him, the entity also deems it necessary to lay a counterattack upon him, and in spite of his efforts, the bluenette does not manage to avoid the shredding, uncanny hand that reaches out towards him. Shigure winces as he staggers back and shudders from the nightmarish agony that wracks his frame, though he remains standing, thank the Dragons.
“I don’t suppose you would happen to have something that would put this down?” he asks the nearby blonde. “Or at least something that can neutralize that nasty reflection effect?”
This nightmare was proving itself more and more difficult to deal with. Before they were able to defeat their last opponent the world shifts, and the exact same group of people find themselves face to face with another monstrosity.
Not only that, but their equipment has changed once again. No longer is Nanna sat upon her winged steed, but instead she finds herself on sturdy ground once more, wearing a long robe and a hat that she’s certain she looks ridiculous in. As for weapons she finds herself armed with both physical and magical damage— and a heal staff!
Though she misses the weight of an ever familiar sword in her hand, she can’t find herself complaining at the idea of healing rather than watching her team’s wounds grow worse. Midori has done an excellent job, but the thought of her doing it all on her own saddens the Princess.
Nanna watches as it reflects all of their attacks— she can’t help but cringe at the sight. No matter what they did to it, it would simply do the exact same back in return. That was bothersome…it was no different than if they hit one another.
The smile she offers Shigure is halfhearted. She can’t stand there and pretend that seeing him— or any of them, for that matter— in pain does not wound her, but she can at least try to reassure him that it was alright. They would be alright.
“There’s nothing I can do for the reflection, but for your wounds I am well equipped.” To watch them throw themselves at it, only to come back more battered and bruised…it sickened her.
Nanna heals +2HP with Renewal. (Nanna 10/10 HP)
Nanna uses Recover on Shigure. Roll d20: 13! Good heal, +6 health. (Shigure 10/10 HP)
“I will do all I can— for you, and for all of us here. Do not hesitate to ask if your body grows tired. My staff is yours.”
She can only hope that her words help soothe their worries…though it does little to make herself feel any safer.
Poison of God: Chosen uses King’s Roar. Roll 5d20: 17, 14, 4, 4, 1. Nanna is afflicted with Isolate and Void. Shigure is afflicted with Isolate.
Poison of God: Chosen uses Mauling Strike on Velouria. Roll 2d20: 11, 4: Hit, Barely Hit! 2 damage (Velouria HP 6.5/12)
Velouria counters with Brave Sword. Roll 1d20+2: 22! Critical Hit! 3 damage (Poison of God: Chosen HP 0/10. KO)
Poison of God: Chosen reflects 3 damage against Velouria. (Velouria HP 3.5/12)
Poison of God: Chosen uses King’s Fury. Roll 5d4-1:1, 1, 2, 2, 0.
Nanna: 9/10HP
Shigure: 9/10HP
Eliwood: 4.5/10HP
Velouria: 1.5/10HP
Midori: 7.5/10HP
Well, that just happened.
The world around Nanna feels cold, alone— as if there is no one by her side any longer. It’s silly, she can clearly see them all. The isolation grows stronger nonetheless. Logic rarely works in the world of dreams.
Before she even has a chance to catch her breath, the monster changes. It takes shape, a new form in its place…one that was clearly coming her way.
Poison of God: Messenger uses Judgement against Nanna. Roll d20: 16! Hit! 2.5 damage. Nanna is afflicted with Taunt. (Nanna HP 6.5/10)
Nanna counters with Brave Bow. Roll 2d20: 14, 2: Hit, Miss! 4 damage (Poison of God: Messenger HP 6/10)
Poison of God: Messenger uses Almighty Wings. Roll 5d20: 2, 5, 17, 4, 3. Aegis activates! Eliwood takes 1 damage (Eliwood HP 3.5/10HP)
“W-what—“ What has it done to me? No matter how hard she tries, she cannot tear her eyes off the monster. Her thoughts consumed— she’s livid, in a sense, as if it had somehow scorned her. She can no longer think of her teammates, nor how they need her. All she can think about is seeing it fall at her feet.
Her weapon remains raised, hands ready, but unmoving.
