Do you have any headcannons about Emer’s relationship with her brothers? I could imagine Emer’s brothers resenting her atleast a little…I mean with Emer’s encouragement and instruction, Cu Chulainn did kill their father Forgall and their aunt, ransacked their family’s home and stole Forgall’s treasures, and killed Forgall’s men (who Emer’s brothers may very well have had cordial relations with). Emer cared about brothers, given that she told Cu Chulainn to all this without slaying her brother. But still, even if they disliked Forgall and Scenmend , most people would probably feel some type of way about seeing their family’s house utterly devastated like that. But Emer is eloquent and clever, so she may very well find a way to reconcile with her brothers if they had any anger about the situation.

Emer's relationship with her three older brothers is...complicated.

She thinks highly of them as warriors, able to vouch for their strength and prowess due to training alongside them for quite some time, as part of her education. Despite this, neither of them is close to the other.

Her brothers are protective of her, not much in a familial sense but out of an obligation designated by their father. Additionally, they harbored some jealousy because she held their father's hope and expectations. Even so, Emer does care for them enough to ask Cú Chulainn to spare them as part of her marital conditions.

After the siege of their castle, they left for Mag Mell, where Tethra welcomed them in his court. For a while, the brothers resented their sister for what happened, though with time, along with the freedom they gained after their father's demise, her brothers eventually learned to let go of their resentment.

As screwed as mages can get in Fate, the trope gave me some ease in writing the lore of Emer's family, particularly with her father, Forgall.

The girl has valid reasons for wanting to leave.

Do you have any headcannons about Emer’s mother?

Honestly, there’s…not much to give, though to give a slight idea about her; she is of noble lineage and a powerful mage of her own right. Emer inherited most of her physical features and some of her positive attributes, such as empathy and curiosity. She is very much loved by her children and husband, though she often gets into arguments with him.

Character-wise, she is someone who haunts her daughter’s narrative. She died when Emer was very young and the circumstances of her death is something that Emer blames herself for. It’s one of the reasons why she initially hated her red hair.

Unlike Scáthach, who seems to have a complex about her age, Emer is not offended by the least when someone calls her 'old' or age-appropriate honorifics. This is because she views age hierarchically and subscribes to the notion that ‘with age comes wisdom’.

So the next time someone calls her 'auntie', she’ll only reply—"So where are your manners then?" Oh, they'd better mean it with respect, otherwise it’s a slipper on the head.

[📝 HEADCANON - EMER’S BACKGROUND #002]

The royal household consists of:

Forgall Manach ('Forgall the Wily'), her father and the family's patriarch.

Scenmend, Forgall’s sister and his designated second-in-command.

Catt, Ibur, and Seibur, her older brothers, whose prowess is described as being able to take 100 men each head-on.

Fial, her handmaiden and also her older half-sister. She is a child from Forgall's previous relationship before he legally married Emer’s mother.

Despite being the youngest and having a rather rebellious nature, Emer is, nevertheless, the golden child. Though not formally declared, the family quietly perceives that it's Emer who will succeed her father, Forgall.

Writing Derbforgaill’s lore and making it seamlessly fit with Emer’s story was a challenge since it’s two distinct stories, and there’s also the tragic ending to consider (it’s the literal title of the source story).

Do Emer Lily and Ethine have different skills and noble phantasms from archer!Emer?

Yup, they have different skills and NP!

I already have something written for Eithne, but for Emer Lily, it's currently a rough idea.

Legend tells of a princess named Derbforgaill (‘Daughter of Forgall’) who became infatuated with the hero, Cú Chulainn, upon hearing stories about him. She traveled to the Emerald Isle (Ireland), where she asked to be his lover, but he refused. Nevertheless, he took the princess back to his country, where she was wed to one of his foster brothers. Unfortunately, her presence attracted the jealousy of the country women, and she met a gruesome death because of it. At least, that’s how it goes in Proper Human History.

However, this incarnation is not the actual ‘Derbforgaill’ but another princess who happens to fit the name's meaning and whose story follows nearly identical events to the actual one.

I noticed that the doc about Emer’s lore seems to have been deleted. Are you rewriting it or something?

About that, I closed the doc temporarily for a while because I did some layout reformatting and also some minor rewriting (mostly to match some parts in her Lily version’s lore).

[📝 HEADCANON #001 - BACKGROUND ]

Emer is a collateral descendant of the Fomorians.

Through her father, she is the grand-niece of Tethra, one of the three Fomorian lords and the ruler of Mag Mell. She was born in the Emerald Isle (Ireland) a long time ago, but spent most of her life in foreign lands due to the exile of her kinsmen after the great war in Mag Tuired.

Her family generally moved around, but they resided in Lochlann (Scandinavia) for the longest before returning to their original home as part of a peace agreement as well as alliance with the Tuatha Dé Nannan, in opposing the invading Milesians.

She has lived since the Age of Gods, making her older than Scáthach.

[ 📝 LORE #001 - ÉIRE'S DIAMOND ]

Éire's Diamond is a personal sobriquet I came up with for Emer while writing her lore. The initial idea was to highlight her positive attributes and another epithet (i.e., Tara of Women), and to juxtapose her with Fand, who is known as the ‘Pearl of Beauty’ in the myth. Éire is an archaic term for Ireland, and the diamond is known as the hardest of all precious minerals. They are formed under immense pressure beneath the earth and do not easily break unless scratched by another diamond.
