Description: - Explain the rules of the game to the students. (Half court rules)- Break the group into two teams. - Separate to either side of the basketball court.- Number off each team (if numbers are uneven, include a teacher)- Teacher will call out a numbers and corresponding students will take their turn.- Whilst students are running, the teacher will throw in the selected equipment for the students to complete their round.- First team to score in the opposition goal will win. - Repeat scenario until new variations are implemented. - Keep score until ‘class’ concludes At a Glance: The objective of the game is for both teams to attack and score in the opposition goal, once their number has been called.
What you need: - Basketball court- Minimum of 4 people - 5-45 Minutes - Bibs à Centre x2 à Defense x2
à Attack x2- Frisbee- Hockey puck+ sticks- Soccer ball- Basketball - Cones- Soccer Goals- Whistle
Set Up: (Half court rules)
- Place on goal on the baseline of the basketball court and the other on the half court line.- With one teacher next to each goal, bibs and hockey sticks (if needed) will be placed for use.- A line of cones will mark the halfway point on the field (this line will indicate to the students, which half of the court is for attacking and which is for defending).- Students will be sat in their defensive half until called upon to take their turn.- One teacher will be stood at the bottom of the halfway line, ready to throw in a piece of equipment. - (Same rules will apply for a full court adaptation).
Rules: - Students run around attacking goals - Bibs will correspond to what half of the court they are on- Take on rules of the game that match the equipment introduced - Ultimate Frisbee - Hockey - Soccer - Turn over if equipment leaves playing area. - (Basketball variations can be included)
Ultimate Frisbee Rules- Frisbee can be thrown only, but thrown any way.
- Once Frisbee is caught, players are only allowed to take one step.- Opposing players cannot hit Frisbee out of opponents hands. - Frisbee can be blocked, but opposing team continues from where it lands. - If the Frisbee is dropped by a team, the opposing team receives the Frisbee.
- Players are only allowed in their designated halves.
Hockey Rules- Players can use both sides of their stick.- Only the ball can be hit – no limbs.- Players cannot swing their stick higher than their waist.
Soccer Rules- Players can use any part of their body to make contact with the ball, except their arms/hands.- Kick ins, instead of throw ins.
Variations:- Two touch per person- Adding in another sport (basketball, touch, netball) - Every player has to touch the ball before a goal is scored- Challenging variation – Call two sports
