So Much More
They are the kids who go throughout life with big smiles on their faces Standing in large groups of friends So insecure the can’t even walk to class by themselves Always searching for a friend God forbid they be alone God forbid the look like a loser God forbid the be independent for just one second
They are the kids who give smiles and fake laughs to the weirdos just so they’ll like them They do everything they can to boost their egos Going home at night feeling good about themselves because they made their whole group of friends laugh Using a joke about the same kid they were kind to that morning
They are the kids who pride themselves on their popularity Measure their self esteem by how many friends they have Their self-worth by how much their outfit costs Their inner beauty by the amount of times someone has called them sweet Their physical beauty by how many likes and comments are on their selfie And yes, oh yes, by their definition they have confidence They are cool, pretty, nice, popular They don’t secretly hate themselves or their lives They don’t secretly wish to be someone else And that’s the saddest part They are content with who they are
They are the kids who don’t realize that almost everything about them doesn’t matter They are the kids who will grow up and love in big houses and have kids just like themselves Living happily ever after They will die content with lives in which they have done nothing of importance Never realizing that they could have done so much more Could have been so much more They will die not knowing that there is so much more
They are the kids who are happy Spending their lives being grateful that they have it so easy If only they knew that if they had just opened themselves up to this world full of countless emotions This world full of countless art forms Full of countless ways to be an individual rather than just part of a pack They could be so much more
