Wow. This is perfect.
oh my god, on point
shawty got low low low low low low low (self esteem)
If you would report an undocumented immigrant to ICE you would have reported me to the Nazis and I don’t fucking trust you
A note:
I live in a state where you “have to” report anyone you suspect of being undocumented (that wonderful hellhole of Arizona). Now in practice this law has fallen far short, thank goodness. But if you live in such a place and they start enforcing it, here is how you get around it:
Assume everyone who doesn’t speak English is visiting.
Never ask about their job, because if they tell you they work here then you know they’re not visiting. You see them a lot for several weeks or months? Hm. Someone in the family must be ill. That’s terribly tough. They always dress in old, ratty laborers’ clothes? I feel you, my dude, I can’t afford new clothes either, and my dad has the fashion sense of an aardvark, so sometimes it’s not even about “affording” them. They say they’ve been here for years? You must have misunderstood. Spanish isn’t your first language, after all. First and last name? It never came up, or you don’t recall–you meet a lot of people.
And then, if you’re asked: no, you haven’t seen anyone residing illegally in the United States. Just people visiting.
Very good very important addition
I used to register people for (and occasionally teach) adult ESL. We deliberately never asked any questions about their immigration status, just things we actually needed to better provide services. (Someone who has been to High School or university has different needs than someone with a second grade education. We needed to know if someone needed basic literacy support and possibly math lessons. We did need to know what language(s) they spoke, because it helped us hook them up with other support organizations, and people who are monolingual tend to need more support than multi-lingual folks. People who speak more common languages like Spanish or Ukrainian are easier to find translation help or other resettlement help than people with rarer minority languages.) We were specifically trained to avoid any questions that would clearly indicate if they were documented or not and never checked IDs.
The point was to get people help in the safest way we could for them and for us and the organizations (s) we worked for and with.

Shoutout to all the people who are trying hard to be more positive and make meaningful changes in their lives and work towards recovery because it’s hard and people definitely don’t say it enough, but focusing on yourself is very difficult & the progress you’re making is valuable.
Why Did They Come?
TOO FUCKIN’ phenomenal to NOT reblog!!!!
when I say ‘’fuck the police’’ or ‘’fuck ICE’’ and you say, ‘’hey, my dad is a cop,’’ that still includes your dad

if you’re butch in public you’re showing kids what kind of woman they can be. you’re a marvel and an open door. you are something they might have thought was impossible. you are the proof little butch girls need that they can exist grown up and happy and handsome without changing a single thing
