A very exciting announcement! I have a stand mixer now! I feel fancy, it's a KitchenAid. It's one of the least expensive ones, meaning it is a very basic white Classic series 4.5qt stand mixer. But that is roughly the capacity of my largest mixing bowls, so it's still better than what I've had on hand.
•Why did I get a stand mixer? Well, after my wrist surgery, it was too difficult for me to properly massage out the scar tissue, so there is still stiffness, despite passing occupational therapy with full range of motion. I'm hypermobile, so it's not *my normal* range of motion. I find the "normal" ROM very limiting. And! I have a lot of fatigue issues, so this takes quite a load off.
It's really basic, has a steel bowl, and the basic paddle, hook, and whisk attachments. It is very heavy and will live on my countertop.
After washing the detachable parts yesterday, I decided to make sticky buns. I've made these before and I think I've shared them. They're called Mesa Buns in the Horizon cookbook. I'll be taking a portion of them to a friend's house, since it makes so much.
Before oven, after oven, and then after being flipped out
Description: the top image shows 12 spirals of light dough with dark filling in a disposable aluminum pan. The second image shows those 12 spirals have been browned as they baked. The third image shows the 12 spiral buns, but with a dark caramel topping with chopped walnuts and pecans, on a large darker baking sheet.
