As a little half announcement; I’ve got a hunch that Cobblemon 1.8 is releasing soon. Can’t be for certain but either way, I’m holding off updating the addon until 1.8 to make some new stuff with the 1.8 features.
I already know the next cobblemon update will have alphas, so Alpha Groudoid will for sure be something to do. But who knows what else will be added? Maybe we’ll finally see some more custom NPC features that’ll allow me to make some fun custom battles using the Eldar characters.
As for the story, I haven’t been writing a lot but I have been making new Pokémon to fill out the story. Some of these Pokémon will appear in the next Toon’s Mons update. As well, currently there’s 3 chapters written and one in the drafts.
The next update to Toon’s Monster will be zombie focused! Nyarlic Zombies are the Phenomenon of the region, but currently only have a few members. The next update will introduce a bunch of zombies, along with some extras. One of these Pokémon being Dirdoid, a pre-evolution of Groudoid meant to act as its infant stage. Of course, based on the Dirt Dragons from Tremors 4.
This Pokémon was made for two reasons. One: Dirt Dragons are criminally underrated and forgotten in Tremors. Two, and more importantly; Since Groudoid evolves in a loop and they all have the same BST, the eviolite applied to all stages except Gasblaster. And well, I shouldn’t have to explain why a 600BST Pokémon shouldn’t be able to use Eviolite. Now the life cycle starts at Dirdoid, and when it evolves into Groudoid, that is when the evo cycle begins. Gasblaster still evolves back into Groudoid, and every member of the Groudoid line past Dirdoid has Dirdoid listed as its pre-evolution. Yes, I’m aware this technically makes it a four stage evolution, I don’t care. As a treat, Dirdoid gets a signature move that Groudoid, Shriequake, and Gasblaster can ONLY get if evolved from Dirdoid.
Now let’s talk zombies. What to expect? There’s a new zombie Ralts line. Rots, Surlia, and Morbillade. These are currently the only 3 stage zombie Pokémon and is currently fully implemented.
This feels like a good time to mention that, on top of Viral Fang, some zombie Pokémon will have Viral Barrage, a Multi-Hit physical poison type move for exceptionally strong zombie Pokémon. The next one, and my favorite, is Pikasite! Obviously inspired by The Thing and Parasyte.
And what kind of person would I be if I didn’t shoehorn in a Snakewood reference? Meet Zigzatile and Dragoone! My addon has had a noticeable empty space that only a nasty rat thing could fit. This Pokémon was one I designed for Sallowwood many years ago. Since Sallowwood ain’t a thing anymore, Zigzatile finds refuge on Eldar Island!
These are three highlights, but there will be quite a few more zombies running around for you to find. But with all these zombies running around, how will you defend yourself?? Well, meet Mewby, a failed zombie detection and dispatch drone which is, you guessed it, another snakewood mon.
It’s safe to say this next update will be the biggest Toon’s Mons update! There’s even going to be remodels for Gaunterror, Shoggroll, and Scialloid to better reflect their designs, as well as cosmetic forms for quite a few Pokémon. Im so excited that y’all have enjoyed the addon, and I hope you will have fun with the next update when it releases!
