dawnmaywithey:
“You could try no games.”
“No games? What would I do for fun then?”
dawnmaywithey:
“Even so, there’s only so many times.”
“Alright, I concede. I shall reevaluate my game suggestions in the future.” He replied.
dawnmaywithey:
“There’s only so many times you can play it before it loses it’s excitement.”
“That’s not true. Since it’s random, you never know what to expect. Therefore, it’s unpredictable. How can that be boring?”
dawnmaywithey:
“More because it’s boring, but okay.”
“Oh, this ought to be good. Okay, fine. Go ahead. Explain to me how it is boring.” He encouraged.
lxrd-lucius:
“You’re right,” he declared. “We are having a conversation. Let’s fix that, shall we?” He did not bother with the rest of Henry’s speech - heaven knows Malfoy, the turncoat, would gladly contradict himself with whoever was listening - and so he turned on his foot and strode away.
Henry just smirked. Sometimes Malfoy just made it far too easy. He shook his head and walked away, deciding that this time, he’d let him have the last word. Because Henry knew, it was far more important to win the war than every little battle.
dawnmaywithey:
“It’s for first years. And geriatrics.”
“It is not!” He protested. “Just because it happens to be random and there’s no strategy to it doesn’t mean it’s for first years and geriatrics. Not every game has to have a strategy.”
dawnmaywithey:
“Exploding snap. Really?”
Henry groaned. “Not you too. What in Merlin’s name is wrong with Exploding snap?”
sturgispodmore:
“Thanks.”
“Anyway, I should head out. It was, uh, good talking with you.”
“Yeah, good talking with you too.”
dawnmaywithey:
“Well, what have you tried?”
“There was a rather unfortunate game of Exploding Snap. Didn’t go well.”
sturgispodmore:
“That’s fair. I can understand that.”
“Then, you’re a reasonable bloke.”
sturgispodmore:
“Mm, yeah,” Sturgis agreed. “There’s many sides and viewpoints to most things. And, uh, I’m not usually the bleeding heart type, but I guess I try my best to be sympathetic to other view points. At least I try to.”
“Nothing wrong with showing some empathy towards others.” He reasoned. “Actually, it’s an admirable quality.” Henry tried so hard to distance himself from the politics of the war that often times he forgot that there were in fact multiple sides. “I’ve tried to stay out of the political side of things, which is not easy to do in my line of work. But, in doing so, I tend to forget that it’s not so one-sided.”
dawnmaywithey:
“That’s a shame. Normally it’s the opposite.”
“Yeah, I know. Sometimes, I feel like I just don’t know how to talk to them.”
msameliabones:
Well, I know that I don’t want to do this.
“Fine. You don’t have to get all snappy.”
dawnmaywithey:
“Yeah, we do.”
“That’s nice. Really nice. Sometimes, I think the older we get, the more my siblings and I grow apart.”
sturgispodmore:
“I understand what you’re saying, I do, but I don’t think everyone can deconstruct fear like that—compartmentalize and analyze it to a pulp. Fear is a reaction, and one we don’t often have control over it. So while it’s just a name, and we apply weight to it, that still doesn’t take away from the fact that bringing up his name strikes fear in most people. For me personally, I don’t want to spring that on another person.”
Henry thought about what he was saying and it made sense. “I suppose you’re right. For me, I still don’t see the point in fearing a name, but I get your point.” He could see why other people would. “It’s not always one-sided is it? There’s multiple points of view to look at.”
sturgispodmore:
“Yeah, a name that makes many people incredibly unsettled and often terrified—rightly so.”
“Don’t you find that a bit asinine? Fearing a name?” He asked. “A name has no power unless you give it power. I’m not saying that people shouldn’t fear him or that they shouldn’t be scared of the war, but to fear a name...it seems to me like that’s allowing him to win, to have power over us.”
lxrd-lucius:
Just to annoy him, Lucius was quite nearly going to comment on how bright his hair was. One look upwards and he could tell Henry would be incredibly jealous of it and probably pull it out, or something. He sighed, “A lacking conversation is the best kind of conversation to have with you.”
“And yet...here we are. Having a conversation.” He replied. “Tell me, Mr. Malfoy, do you contradict yourself often? Or is it something you only do in the company of people you dislike?”
