stop being weird about other peoples’ gender and presentation and start being weird about your own
“no i will not elaborate” is such a fun line, but unfortunately i have adhd and am incapable of shutting up. yes i will elaborate
Wouldn’t it be sexy if games were affordable
it’d be sexier if we were paid wages that let us afford them
it’d be even sexier still if devs weren’t expected to work in crunch conditions on peanuts for wages

there’s some lava bending going on there…. so she separated the ground down to the mantle layer (magma chamber)? then floated that chunk on lava then air bended it over?
This is often cited as the single most powerful feat in bending in the entire franchise, and I’m inclined to agree. Kyoshi Island also manages to wind up quite a distance from the mainland–let’s assume it’s still on the continental shelf, otherwise MY GOD–and is large enough to sustain a reasonably-sized village with agriculture. Unless there’s an earthbending equivalent of the great comet going on, this is nuts. Avatar Kyoshi also lived to 230 years old. All of this begs the question to me–what the hell was up with her? Did she get a spirit-world power boost or something? These things are all very much outside the norm, even in a world of such extraordinary people. What’s everybody’s theory on this?
She was just that strong
My thought has always been that Kyoshi was one of the few Avatars that was completely at peace with who and what she was. Every other Avatar we’ve seen – even the best of them like Aang and Korra – are conflicted over what they have to do and how they do it. Guilt and self-loathing over their responsibilities and actions, regret over what they could have done better.
Kyoshi, however, never doubted herself. Even without being arrogant, she always saw that what she did had to be done. She took what were the only options. You see this even in the advice she gives to subsequent Avatars: Be decisive. Be final. Commit.
Because of that, she was one of the few (Maybe only) Avatars who was able to completely encompass the powers available to them. No part of her subconsciously didn’t want to use them. There was no hesitancy buried so deep that she even didn’t realize it, Unlike Aang, or Roku, or Koruk, or Korra, or Yangchen, or even Wan, she was able to give herself over totally to whatever she was doing and hold nothing back.
That’s why she was able to accomplish feats of bending and skill that no other Avatar could equal: Because she, alone of all the Avatars, had she SHEER CHUTZPHA to do it.
other avatars ask “can i do it?” kyoshi says “of course i can.”
Believe in yourself like Avatar Kyoshi believed in herself. Encompass the spirit of Avatar Kyoshi. I am a bad-ass and I WILL JUST DO IT
Also, she did all of that outside of the avatar state. That was just straight up all here. She is a powerful bender. Period.
Something that’s occurred to me while reading this: Kyoshi didn’t have to wear that. It’s the uniform of the Kyoshi warriors, but they came after her. Kyoshi just woke up one day and was like, “You know what? I’m going go into battle with full face makeup and also fans. No, no one can stop me.”
It’s because she’s an earthbender.
Airbenders change their approach to solve problems. If one approach isn’t working, they do another one. Aang constantly does this, in the show, he doesn’t want to kill Ozai, so he just goes out of his way to find another option to killing him.
Show an airbender a mountain, and they’ll use their air bending let them go around it.
Waterbenders change themselves to solve problems. If their approach isn’t working, they change themselves to best solve it. Korra was exceptional at bending earth, fire, and water, because she was good at changing herself to use different elements. Her only trouble was air, but by the end of the first season or so, she had changed herself to use it properly and used that change to help her take down the equalists.
Show a waterbender a mountain, and they’ll use their water bending to help them create the best path up the mountain, and then use it to best go down the mountain once their reach the summit.
Firebenders change their emotions to to solve problems. If their approach isn’t working, they get passionate enough to change it. That’s Roku’s strength. He never had a problem with the power to stop Sozin, he just had to work up the passion to do so.
Show a firebender a mountain and they’ll rage, and rage, and rage, until they get passionate enough to burn their way over the mountain.
And then there’s earthbenders.
Earthbenders don’t change anything to solve problems. If people tell them their approach won’t work, Earthbenders take a stance, plant their feet, and do it anyway.
Because it takes a certain type of people to slam their hands into rocks daily. And that requires a will and conviction strong enough, that when they are shown the biggest, baddest mountain on earth, they don’t go around it, they don’t flow over it, they don’t burn up it. All they do, is take a stance, plant their feet, and whisper…
“Move.”
And should the earthbender prove strong enough, and their will powerful enough, the mountain whispers back.
“Okay.”
Kyoshi wasn’t strong because she was an avatar.
Kyoshi was strong because she was an earthbender, through and through, with the sheer frigging balls to tell the world to move.
And she said it with enough force, the world listened.

Guess who finally got the time to catch up with She-Ra? :)
I love these two so much. Finally some good fucking show finale instead of a disappointing one..(yes Voltron, I'm looking at you)

oh to be a nun in 1350 enjoying quiet time and gardening and having lots of lesbian sex and then dying at the ripe old age of 36
Life expectancy statistics measure the average age of death. Because infant/childhood mortality was so incredibly high until recently, it really dragged down that average. If you exclude infant/childhood mortality from your statistic, you’ll see that humans (that survive childhood) have consistently lived into their 70s, meaning if you were a woman that survived childhood and never had to go through pregnancy, you may well get a good 50+ years of lesbian sex and gardening!
