"Do you think it will rain today?"
“Come on now Lucius. Just tell me. It will make you feel better and regardless if it’s that bad Cissa will probably tell me about it later anyway.”
She hadn’t told her. Lucius didn’t know how to handle that information. Either way Eleanor was bound to find out. It was best to get it over with. “I –” The words got stuck in his throat, leaving Lucius looking down at his lap. “I’ve done something and she’s never going to forgive me.”
Eleanor stared at Lucius for several moments before responding to what he said. Did she really want to know? Probably not. Still she knew she would eventually anyway. "Surely it can't be that bad Lucius. What did you do?"

“Evan. Don’t say that. You’re starting to sound like our father.”
He gets up and turns to leave.
"Don't get offended Evan. You started being mean first. Maybe next time you'll at least pretend to care."

“I’m terribly sorry, but I don’t care.”
“Evan. Don’t say that. You’re starting to sound like our father.”
“No–” Lucius let the word trail off and shook his head. “I-I don’t want to talk about it.” Admitting anything out loud would only make him feel worse.

The Frenchman was still unsure of how this day was going to go, though he did not say anything of the sort to Eleanor. He did not want to upset her – not now. Because if he was being honest, he was angrier at her idiocy than he’d been the night before. The night before he’d been more worried than angry but when he had seen the carnage the other side had caused – just as much as their own – he had been angry that she would even consider bringing their child into this.
But Elis could not say that and he threw the thought from his mind as he looked down at her. “Your hair looks lovely,” he said, almost perfunctorily. “I am fine as well.” He held out his arm for her to take. “I’ll apparate us.”
Eleanor had resolved to not argue with her husband anymore. She had never felt the need to do so before and this pregnancy shouldn’t change that. She didn’t know that she felt like they were going to make up but showing how she was thinking would be a mistake. Maybe she would be surprised by the evening and they would have a genuinely good time. Something that hadn’t happened between them in a long time.
“Thank you.” She murmured softly at his comment about her hair. Sliding her hand into the crook of his elbow as she had done so many times before. They could have been going to any pureblood event the way they looked in that moment. When she heard him mention that he would apparate them she just nodded and tightened her grip on his arm.
Lucius looked up, taking a deep breath before lowering the paper. “My apologies, Eleanor,” He breathed out. “It’s not a good time to check on it. Too much stress from the past couple of days has left it sorer than usual.”
Eleanor quirked a row as a frown formed on her lips. “What’s wrong with you Lucius. You look upset. Don’t you dare tell me nothing. I can tell when you’re lying to me.”
“I don’t want to talk to you unless it is work related,” Lucius muttered and didn’t look up from the paper he was reading. “Whatever you need to say better be quick.”
Eleanor frowned moving to stand just a little closer to him. “That is a rather horrible way to speak to ones friend. What has you in such a bad mood? I just came to check on your leg.”

@elisgreengrass:
While Elis wanted his wife to be happy – and certainly he wouldn’t mind being happy himself – he was not the type to placate her. At least, not now. He would see to her well-being and he would love her, of course, but Elis needed to know that she was going to trust in his decisions. That’s what their marriage had been like and to have her unilaterally changing it without asking his opnion bothered him more than he wanted to admit.
He smiled at her. “That sounds lovely, darling,” he said, trying to interject a hint of adoration into his voice. While he might be unhappy, there was no need to be rude. “Is there anything you need to do before we leave?”
Eleanor had never second guessed asking Elis to spend time with her. She had always gotten on well with him and she had to admit that this was the worst their marriage had ever been. She hoped they would make up but didn’t put too much stock in it. Elis could be the most stubborn man she had ever met and she didn’t want him to feel like he had to make up with her before he was ready to.
“No. I got ready a little while ago so unless my hair is a mess....?” It was almost a question. “I think I should be fine to leave now. Is there anything you have to do?”

Eleanor moved to sit closely to him frowning a little. Things had been off between them for awhile but she was hopeful to get back on track. She knew it was probably her fault. She had been acting out since becoming pregnant. Something she was often sorry for.
“I wouldn’t mind going out. It could be fun. I’m not feeling bad right now.” She tangled her fingers with his moving to stand to her feet. “I wondered if we might talk today. I know things have been off lately. I’ve been acting out but I do want to make things better between is.”
Of course Elis was aware of how off things had been, though he would never take any responsibility for it on his own. Truthfully, he thought it was Eleanor’s fault for acting out and for refusing to keep to the status quo. After all, when their marriage had been a certain way from day one, why was it acceptable for her to suddenly change it?
Elis nodded. Of course if she wanted to go out, that’s what they would do. He stood with her and inclined his head at her question. His lips turned down slightly and he let out a breath. “I would like that as well,” he finally said, voice a bit tight.
Eleanor frowned as she heard the time of his voice. She had thought to make up with him but she wasn't sure now that he wished to as well. She knew it was her fault that they weren't on great terms but still it stung to here him speak like that. She adored Elis more than anything but maybe that had been a mistake.
Letting her hand fall limply from his she nodded with a small smile on her face. It didn't feel genuine but none of them did anymore. She hadn't realized how far apart they had grown until now. It hurt but she would have to learn to deal with it. "I thought we might go to that restaurant you like."

5 September 1978
Today was another pointless day in the potions shop. It’s a wonder I even keep writing in this blasted thing. It’s not as if my day-to-day life, other than the missions I suppose, is anything worthy of remembering. Just one pointless day after another at the shop.
I did get a letter from Eleanor, though. Merlin, I don’t know why she still bothers with Elis, the annoying french prick. She wrote to tell me that they found out she was having a boy. That’s good I suppose, for both of them. Producing a male heir is one of the most important things a pureblood couple can do. That and not bringing shame upon the family name.
I would say I’m glad Ellie is having a child. If anyone deserves a bit of happiness, it’s her. Often times I think of her as the embodiment of everything we are trying to protect here. She is kind, compassionate. A fiery personality, and a bit of softness. She’s the reason we’re fighting, to create a better future for people like her.
At least, that’s why we’re supposed to be fighting. Most of the time I’m not really sure.

“What are you… I suggest you all leave the premises immediately. The Greengrasses don’t take kindly to unwanted attention… No, I don’t care to comment on their current situation and I don’t think that it is quite proper for you all to be staked outside their residence. Now please kindly step aside and allow me to visit my dear friend Ellie, thank you.”
👪 for what my muse would say to your muse’s child about them.
“Your father? I am sure that he would tell you anything you may wish to know but very well Draco. Come sit with Auntie Eleanor and I shall weave you a tale from the past.” Eleanor grinned as Draco almost reluctantly came to sit beside her. He was ten now and already so grown up. With the arrogance of his father and the mischievous streak of his mother.
“Your father as you know is one of my dearest friends. He’s a man of honor and impeccable style. At least he likes to think that anyway. Now you were asking about his yelling at you the other day? Dearest boy I think you nearly made him die of fright. Whatever possessed you to jump off of the bookcase in the library? Hush now that chair was nowhere near close enough for you to have landed safely on it.”
You are his only child and I can assure you he has never loved anything or anyone more than he loves you. Well he is quite fond of his peacocks. Can you believe how many he has now? I thought he would have less of them after you were born but no I think he secretly has been adding to them. Oh your mother knows of course but you know she secretly likes them.
Hmm. We’re getting quite off track. Anyway. Lucius is a good man who has made mistakes in life. All of us have. You cannot live through a war and not make mistakes. He has however grown into a wonderful person and you are quite lucky to have him as your father. Next time he yells at you just remember that it’s out of love. He would do anything to protect you and sometimes that means having to get a little loud.”

@eleanorgreengrass
Eleanor had spent most of the morning laying on the couch in the sunroom. It looked gloomy outside and had been sprinkling on and off all morning. She hadn’t been feeling too sick that morning. She was feeling much better than usual lately and she was glad for it. She was a little sad over her fight with Elis but she hoped to make up with him.
When she felt a kiss pressed to her cheek she opened her eyes slowly and say up. “Hello love. Sorry I was napping a bit.” Smiling she held lightly to his hand and tugged him down next to her. “I thought we might go out if you want to.” she spoke softly trying to suppress a yawn.
He’d had quite the busy morning, had spent time in meetings before finishing up some business correspondence and heading home. To be quite honest, Elis still felt that things were awkward. Much as he felt a devotion and a responsibility to his wife, she still drove him rather crazy. Perhaps it was the pregnancy. He hoped it was, to be fair. If it wasn’t, well, he wasn’t sure what he would do.
Elis nodded as she sat up, his hand moving through her hair softly before coming to rest on her stomach. “That’s fine,” he murmured. “I got things done at work that needed done, so I was able to leave earlier than I’d anticipated.” Elis smiled at his wife and raised his eyebrow. “That’s fine, darling. As long as you’re up to it. I don’t want you to tire yourself out if you need more rest.”
Eleanor moved to sit closely to him frowning a little. Things had been off between them for awhile but she was hopeful to get back on track. She knew it was probably her fault. She had been acting out since becoming pregnant. Something she was often sorry for.

Elis Greengrass looked at the small clock on his desk before standing up to gather his things. He had promised Eleanor that he would spend most of the day with her, shopping, going out to eat, whatever she wanted really. Though he was still a bit angry about how things had gone at the hospital, he knew that upsetting her during this time was not something he should do – it would only agitate her more and Elis was unwilling to do anything that could possible danger their child. No, it would be better to be as conciliatory as possible even though he was angry.
With a quick flick of his wand and a loud crack, Elis was in the entrance hall of their home, throwing his coat on the ground for an elf to pick up later. He found Eleanor in the sunroom and he walked over to her, pressing a soft kiss on her cheek before pulling back. “Hello, darling,” he murmured. “What was it you had planned for us today?”

Unreasonable Tears ll Open
“A disaster?” Furrowing his eyebrows, James pretended to think about it. Sure, he would consider himself that on the nights that found him in places that were far more uncomfortable than his own bed. Places that put him in danger, or that helped him numb that pain for awhile. “Definitely sounds like it describes me,” he agreed, careful not to let the grin fall from his lips. He watched as she slipped the rattle back into her bag before folding his arms over his chest. “So, when is the baby due?”
“Well, Sirius helped once we got a little older. Before that… yeah, it was all me.” It really was nice having parents that weren’t so strict as some of the other pureblood families. It definitely allowed for him to have more fun at all those functions. “I’m sure that you got to trade up dresses though. Maybe you even got one you liked better. But I’m glad that you liked them. They really were there for entertainment purposes.” Smirking, James pushed up his glasses, shaking his head. “Hardly ever. It’s the mark of a master prankster to not get caught.”
Eleanor watched the boy carefully trying to pick up on how he was feeling. It was almost impossible. James was interesting though. “The baby is due in about five and a half months. I should be able to find out what I’m having soon. That will be very exciting.” She was rambling on about having a baby so much lately. The poor boy was probably just waiting for his chance to escape from her.
“Siri has always been a trouble maker.” Eleanor smiled shrugging her shoulders. “My father did get me a new dress. It wasn’t one that I really liked though. He had horrible taste in fashion whenever it came to dresses. I did get to get one I liked after that though.” She smiled laughing softly. “Were you just as horrible in school? I can’t imagine you getting much past the professors.”
