Short fanfic of Video going “Oh no he’s cute”
Video launched a roll of tape at the other Robot Master, who yelped and jumped out of the way of it. Star Man stood, buster at the ready as he stared in confusion.
“I dont understand why you’re attacking me! Could we just-- talk it out...?” He barely leaned out of the way of another attack.
“Nope! I have a perfect setup for this and I’m not going to waste it.” Video replied with a grin. He had lured Star Man to a rooftop, since it would prevent anyone from rushing to his aid right away and potentially ruining things.
It was more dramatic, anyway.
“Try your best to dodge!” Video managed to land a hit this time, Star yelping as he skidded backwards and near the edge of the building. He winced, fearfully peering over the edge before jumping up and dodging another attack.
“why are you doing this? If you tell me why, maybe I can help...!” Star called back, bringing up a shield and sliding back at another hit.
“It’s dramatic, don’t you think?” He asked, causing Star to blink in confusion. “Rooftops are dangerous, you know. Especially for small ‘bots like you...”
“What...?” Star was feeling a little more uneasy. He couldn’t exactly work with “because I want to.”
He went to call Fire Man for help, but hesitated. He wasn’t in so much danger that he couldn’t defend himself, right? Maybe all this guy wanted was a fight.
“Is this just so you can fight?” He asked. Video Man let tape roll out of his arm, connecting it to his other one and letting it roll thorugh before snapping it into place.
“Of course! But what you need to focus on...” He wound up his tape, “...Is getting out of this alive!”
Suddenly, tape shot out, grabbing Star by his boot and dragging him over. Star yelped, quickly powering up a shield and firing it at Video Man. It hit, causing him to stop dragging the DWN. The tape was still around his boot, but with the time he had he tried to pull it off.
“Ow! You--” Video Man growled, holding his head in pain. He finally noticed that Star was trying to get away, and, deciding that he was close enough, decided to use Wind Cutter to knock him back.
Star yelped in surprise, his helmet falling off. Just as he got up, another Wind Cutter hit, forcing him off balance and dangerously close to the edge.
Video moved closer, walking toward Star. He stopped his third attack, pausing as he stared at Star.
Part of the side of the building crumbled, leaving Star to yelp as he began to drop, unable to get his hands close enough to the edge. Video panicked, launching his tape out of his arms. It caught Star, wrapped around his torso and arms, leaving him awkwardly pressing his feet against the side of the building as his only means of staying balanced. There was a beat of silence, Star staring at Video Man, who stared back with a bead of synthetic sweat going down his face.
“Heh.” Video tried to play it off. He knew what he wanted to do, but that was a close one. Too close for comfort, really. He rolled his tape back up, bringing Star back onto the building and in front of him. He only realized then how short Star was, though granted he was fairly tall himself. He didn’t let the tape go slack, however.
“Consider yourself lucky! I can’t go on with this version of the plan. You’re too cute to go out this way!”
“W--” Star was all sorts of confused, mildly flustered and afraid, blinking in confusion. It was quickly dawning on him that the tape hadn’t loosened, and he tried to wiggle out of it.
“Ah-ah-ah,” Video said, pulling Star closer. “You can’t leave yet...But, if you have someone who might come to your rescue...”
