Does anyone else think Sleep Token will have a break in 2026 or not do another tour till Winter next year?

Seen other projects announcements and making me think things. They're not doing any big festivals like previous years.

The 2024 UK tour went on sale Feb that year for 6(?) November/December dates. So if they're having a break I can't imagine anything being announced till next year or anything at all!

I mean they deserve a break but now seems like the time to keep interests high. Expected announcements after Download to ride that hype but nope.

Just have to wait and see.

About them not doing festivals, they're now festival headliners which usually means less festivals. Bc Festival headline contracts often come with exclusivity clauses (the whole reason they did the US tour first and couldn't tour UK and EU this year).

But bands don't go from headlining a festival one year to then playing a smaller stage the same festival the next year. And even if they haven't headlined the festival yet we know that they've had offers to be headliners at a lot of other festivals too.

But that now puts them in the group of headliners that will headline festivals here and there and not play some every year.

And touring wise (this is not a slight on them) they don't actually tour that much compared to other bands. That's not to say they wouldn't deserve having time off it's just to give some perspective.

They are currently essentially still at the beginning of the EiA album cycle. They couldn't tour UK/EU in 2025 bc of Festival headliners exclusivity and only did the US. From a marketing perspective it would make no sense to plan to take a year off in 2026.

If they're planning to take a year or whatever longer time off it makes so much more sense to ride the hype, finish the album cycle and tour the album in UK/EU and AUS etc first and then take a break. Things are planned like a year in advance, they've most definitely planned out this album cycle before the album dropped and it would be a very very strange plan to not Tour the year after releasing the album.

They've often had "only" 6 months between tour announcement and tour start so that still leaves most of 2026 for a tour. And yes some other things have been announced but it's such few dates that it barely has an influence.

But seriously it would be insane to sign to a huge label like RCA, drop a huge and your most successful album to date and then to only tour it in the US and not at least in the UK where you are from. Especially bc they don't do interviews or talkshow TV performances. So they need to ride "the hype" the releases create.

Everything is so planned out with this band and while I wouldn't be surprised if they disappear to do various other things for a while since they're such meticulous planners I doubt that it would happen right after releasing an album.

Maybe in the future they'll change from releasing an album every 2 years to every 3 or idk how many years. But I highly doubt a proper break will happen at the start/middle of an album cycle.

Ik people want recordings of the song with the saxophone additions.

And they clearly did have loads of fun on tour with the saxophone which is why I need Sleep Token at the Royal Albert Hall with the orchestra etc so much more.

Just imagine what sorta wild things they could come up with if they were to reimagine some of their songs

Not to be the fun police but Vessel didn't play river flows in you as the rain intro in LA.

There is the tiniest part of the melody that sounds like it but it's not and the vast majority of what he played definitely isn't that song

He also has to get to a different key signature for Rain than what River flows in you is in

Why are there people saying Sleep token won't tour at all in 2026?

I doubt that they'll do another tour in the US that soon but it would be incredibly weird and a bit dumb from a marketing perspective for a band from the UK to release an album and then only tour that album in the US, take a whole year off before doing a tour where there from and are equally as massive.

That's not to say that they don't deserve to take some time off but it makes so much more sense to take a break once the album cycle is finished.

I need to stop reading people's reactions to the concerts bc WTF?

Someone on reddit said that they were "underwhelmed bc it felt devoid of emotion" and that maybe they picked the setlist so that Vess doesn't cry and therefore it didn't feel like the communal emotional release and therapy session they were expecting.

And then someone pointed out that he cried during 3 songs and their answer was "I said with a few exceptions"..

I'm sorry!? 3 songs of him crying isn't enough for you?

How dare a man not constantly be suffering for our consumption I guess.

There is a good chance they didn't mean it exactly the way it reads to me but the way it's phrased is so very insane.

For reference, this was the setlist when I saw ST on the TMBTE tour in 2023. 13 songs and 7 of them from the album cycle they were on. That math works, it’s good. I hope they don’t have this EIA setlist set in stone. Like I will love seeing them in a couple weeks regardless, but ,,, tour the album you put so much work into??

Not to beat a dead horse but this is so funny to me.

For TMBE it was 7 songs off of a 12 song album which means 5 songs were not played.

For EIA it's 6 songs off of a 10 song album so 4 songs aren't being played. That's not a huge difference to TMBE, in fact there were less songs not played.

Now let's compare the setlists. It has to be mentioned that this time there are 2 more songs

If you’re asking a genuine question, it’s percentages, to me. In my opinion if you’re on tour supporting an album, at LEAST half your setlist should be from that new album.

And like I said in the tags, if the EIA setlist is the way it is because those are the songs they enjoy playing, more power to them, I will enjoy the show I’m going to. But it reads to me like they’re trying to play all the hits, rather than showcasing their new artwork.

I am asking a genuine question.

But wdym they're not showcasing New Artwork? Including this one they played 3 shows since the album came out. They're showcasing 6 of 10 new songs.

And again in terms of new material they've produced the percentage of 7/12 (58%) and 6/10 (60%) it's even gotten higher.

And they've extended the setlist by two extra songs to accommodate for their older songs. If they didn't play two more songs this time the percentage would be virtually the same.

If you are only focused on the percentage of new songs setlist wise there is a different "issue". if they played all 10 new songs they would no longer have the option of mixing it up with those for the other upcoming tours for example playing some new songs for their eventual European tour. Similarly to how they changed up what TMBE songs they were playing on that tour vs the teeth of god tour (where it was 7 out of 16 TMBE songs btw and they started playing Euclid and TMBE) vs all the other tours between the TMBE and EIA releases.

If they did want to get to 53% of new songs on the setlist it would've had to be 8 new songs. That only leaves 2 songs unplayed and considering how they most likely will never play all of their new songs live that leaves just about no room for variation in terms of new songs on the setlist considering there were only 10. And if they eventually switch it up similarly to what I mentioned they did above then we'll hear about 8 songs live anyway.

And they've always played their new stuff and hits because that's what most touring bands do. Unless they are super tired of those songs and properly hate them. But if it were truly about just playing their hits they wouldn't be playing Vore the 3rd least popular song off of that album:

maybe ascensionism, but it should actually be the apparition and TMBE

and off of EIA they'd be playing Gesthemane and Dangerous and not their two least popular songs off of that album in provider and infinite baths

if it were just about hits they'd play Jaws:

I think a lot of the outrage I've seen is bc the setlist is too similar to the festivals and that everyone has consumed all the festival content and now it feels like they've played these songs for ages when they haven't.

but at the end of the day this band has always done what they've wanted and made well thought out choices. Everything they do is curated for a specific purpose, to reduce that to it's just the hits is doing them a disservice imo. I really do not care about provider as a song but there is a reason they added that one to the playlist over some of the others may that be their personal feelings about the songs, the live production options, the concert flow, giving the others a short break at the start. idk. but it's not played just because it's popular because it actually kinda really isn't. and the same applies to some of the TMBE choices. Thread the needle is their second least played song ever. And they still added that back to the setlist for a reason.

And I don't mean the oh I wish they played my favourite song etc. But like artists can't get it right because if they play mainly the new album they're touring people are upset that it's all just the new songs, and if they play more than half of the new album (as sleep token are doing) it's not enough new songs 😭

I guess it just shows how much people liked the album but it's still hilarious (more ranting below)

And 1 from One EP

They have 2 EPs and four albums that's a lot of songs and imo they picked well and it's no surprise that TMBE got that many songs considering that's what blew them up. But they managed to span their entire discography.

They've started playing Thread the needle again ffs like pulling out their first release is as deep cut as it gets 😭

And with my wrist in a cast typing is a chore and a half so I'm sat here with loads of thought and no outlet 👍
