“Makes me happy to see my son NOT fail miserably for once. Come on in, I have some burgers on the grill, I’m sure you’re at least hungry.” He said while walking back to the grill. Russel sighed. At least his dad was a good cook. He had a fry cook job now since he was quit the Atlas forces.
“Yeah dad…Come on Nora.” He said while he started walking over to the house. “Okay, so how have you been doing?” He asked his father while trying his best to have some sort of friendly conversation with his father.
“Been alright I guess…my son finally got a girlfriend that ISN’T that Arc kid, so that’s a starter…hehe, man that kid was just a loser…I can see why you hung out with that geek.” He said while he continued cooking. This made Russel a little bit angry.
Nora obliged, following Russel and his father further into the house. “The burgers smell really good,” she said sincerely. The man certainly hadn’t put on the most welcoming of attitudes, but the food seemed good at least.
“And with all due respect, Russel has been not failing at a lot of things. He got one of the top scores in one of our classes,” she said. She wasn’t going to sit back and let him degrade Russel in that way.
Nora was really starting to lose it now with the way he talked about Jaune. “And you should know, sir, that ‘that Arc kid’ is actually my friend and my teammate. He is also doing incredibly well at Beacon.” Sure, Jaune kinda was a geek, but he was their geek.
Russel soon looked down at the ground and soon began to rub his arm a bit. “Babe come on I-”
“Having your woman fight your battles for Ya son? Man oh man that’s pathetic…” He muttered before serving the food, groaning at his sons incompetence. “Truly a sad day for man indeed…sheesh…”
“SHUT UP DAD!” Russel got in front of his father before yelling at him. “You’re the main reason why I was so damn sad! Angry! Depressed! You have no right to-”
Before Russel could say anything, his father grabs Russel by the collar and lifts him up. “You disrespectful little monster…you of all people have no right to judge ME, you’re MY SEE so you do what I say…”
“I’m not fighting his battles for him,” Nora replied as she watched his father serve the food. “I’m just giving him some more ammunition and fighting with him,” she snapped.
Nora took a quick step back as Russel started to shout, her eyes darting back and forth between her boyfriend and his father. But when the latter picked Russel up and started to berate him, she had had enough.
“Put him down!” She cried as she charged in and punched his father in the stomach, hopefully enough for him to lower his arms and let Russel down. “He doesn’t have to do anything that you say after the way you’ve treated him.”
