To begin with, I love this tumblr. I love Undertale. But I also am a Christian born into a Christian family with moral values AND open mindedness. Eh, basically, I was reading your post about "organized religion" and Undertale and I got a little hurt. I agree, televangelists and churches (not all but some) can be close-minded and grubby....but I felt a little hurt by being referred to generally as "indoctrinated" because of what I believe in. I just want you to know we're not all like that. = {
If your family raised you to be Christian,took you to church without your consent, mutilated your penis while you were too young to do anything about it or remember being whole? Did they teach you the facts before teaching you their beliefs? Did they present other religions to you and allow you to choose? Did they explain history to you before telling you the history according to the religion? Did they make you go to church and respect the priest as if they had authority? That’s indoctrination, brainwashing, forcing and molding an impressionable child to follow their religion without them being capable of consenting. It’s been the norm throughout history and is required in some cultures, with penalty of death in Saudi Arabia, Iran, North Korea, China, and several African countries. And yet still so common in the USA.
Your parents had it done to them, and grandparents done to them, how do you think such ancient Religions manage to stay alive despite the horrible things such Dogma does? All you can do is break the cycle and let your children decide for themselves based on all the available information without you affecting their decision, and let them change whenever they wish.
Am aware that this is a relatively old post but- a little bit of tact dude. This person came to talk to you about something that emotionally affected them and the response you had was a little bit cold. I’m not saying that anything you said was wrong. I agree with you. But sometimes its a good idea to approach questions like this in a more... kind-hearted way. That being said you have the right to speak however you please it’d just be nice for you to show your empathy more.
