Matt heard Elektra’s order request and he had to admit that that would sound amazing at the moment. Anything with flavor would sound amazing at the moment. “Close,” he told her. “This can sounds like peaches, so I have a fruit. I did bring coffee,” he grinned, setting the travel mugs on the nightstand beside her. He shouldn’t have been surprised at her dismissal of his mystery bowl. Instead of being upset, he pull back with a small smile.
Matt put the bowl beside the coffees and he hid a laugh as Elektra explained the full depth of her displeasure with him for leaving. “You know I don’t doubt you,” he leaned forward and kissed her. He didn’t have to hear her heartbeat to know she would. "Give me a moment to comply with the dresscode and I’ll be right beside you for as long as you want,” he smiled.
Matt stripped out of his borrowed clothes and slid back into bed beside Elektra. “No one is awake, so I figured I should move now so that we don’t have to explain anything if we go by there later,” he explained in case she didn’t remember that he’d warned her before he left. He wrapped his arm around her and stroked her cheek gently. He missed being able to wake up beside her and he didn’t want to spoil the mood now that he could again.
The aroma of the coffee was enticing but not as much as making up for the miserable weeks of lost sleep. Trying hold fast to her quiet resolution not to walk out on this again had been complicated by more than just the strings. Last night she’d been prepared to kill again and part of her remained braced for him show any hesitation as she tried to coax him back to bed.
She barely craned up from the pillow to catch the kiss but finally opened both eyes to watch him shed his borrowed clothes, anticipating her plans to stay comfortable for as long as possible. “There’s that Columbia education hard at work again,” she smiled a little ruefully.
She loves the pounding of her own pulse as they moved around each other seamlessly in a fight. She loves that the blind man snuck around mansion while others slept in trying to bring her whatever counted as breakfast in bed in the middle of an apocalypse. Right now she most loved his weight settling back beside her. Her hand wrapped around the back of his neck. If he had noticed her slip last night seemed willing to ignore it in favor of this strange domesticity. She didn’t know when she would trust it enough to settle into that feeling, if she ever would.
She drummed her fingers, letting him feel the ring across his nape before pulling him into a slow kiss. “If we keep ending up back here eventually there won’t be much left to explain.”
we belong together.

Matt smiled at Elektra warm sound. He caught her fingers and only let her go once the distance forced it. He would have rather stayed in bed with her all morning, but if they wanted to eat, it was going to have to be now.
In the kitchen, Matt found a variety of food that he didn’t have in his loft. He grabbed a mixing bowl and loaded it with a few things to help him carry it back. What they didn’t eat this morning, they could take home. He grabbed a few cans, but also other things he knew she liked that would keep. All perishables were completely gone and had been months ago, but there were still some of the more persistent items to eat.
Matt walked by the sink and sensed two things sitting inside of it. His senses told him they were soft by the way the sound bounced off of them. Reaching into the sink, he picked one up and held it. Having no idea what it was, he squished it gently, but nothing happened to help him solve the mystery. He grabbed another bowl and put the squishy thing in it before grabbing the second one from the sink. If it was food, they could both have one. If it was something else, they had a trash can.
Matt made is way quickly back to the room, wanting to avoid any company. He slipped inside before locking the door and he moved back to the bedroom. “I have some food. Delicious canned meals for everyone,” he smiled. They’d mostly been eating protein packets which were rather bland even to him. The taste of metal would be a welcomed change. “What are these?” he asked her as he put down the bowl of food and held up the bowl with the squishy blobs for her to see.
As much as she appreciated his apparently renewed appetite for all things her body still felt like it needed weeks worth of sleep. Elektra stretched out across the empty bed before curling back into the leftover warmth escaping the spot where he’d been. Matthew. With all the chaos around them it was hard to tell if she’d truly carved out a space back in his life or if this would be just as temporary as every time before. Her thumb lightly skimmed the surface of the ring. Whenever he pulled her close it felt too good to be true and the old man’s voice was always quick to remind her that’s exactly what it was. Not that it had stopped her from taking as much of him as she could get.
She only cracked one eye as he slipped back into room before gripping into the pillow. “French toast with fresh cut strawberries, a cafe au lait?” Eventually she’d learn to stop missing flavor. Whatever dismal collection of preserved sustenance he carried didn’t entice her nearly as much as having his warmth back in the bed. From where she lay she opened an eye again to see the bowl encroaching and she caught his wrist, her grip dragging him lightly back towards the promise of more sleep. “I don’t care.”
When he didn’t immediately follow she sighed and pulled upright. Pushing her hair back her eyes settled on him with a warm severity. Beautiful. He’s beautiful in that way that made her want to let everything else burn and for now he was still hers. “I will make sure you can’t leave this bed if I have to,” she warned.
