Institutionalized Minds.
I was born and raised in a small central american country named Panama, where ever since we were little kindergarten kids we we’re taught that our country is a diverse one, a place were different cultures converge and where (ever since our formation) we all coexisted equally and peacefully. For many years and in the innocence of my youth I believed that to be a constant true. 23 years later I discovered this is nothing but an outstanding fallacy.
I am from a country whose whole foundation is based on slavery, based on the trade of humans who weren’t even perceived as so, this land that I am willing to sacrifice my life for was constructed over the blood of people who where dragged away from their freedom, their rights and their beloved ones only to be enslaved and sell by cheap.
For years now, we were kept blind from the things going on outside of our privilege ‘house slave’ bubble so that governments and its institutions could still feed us all those lies about how equal we were, are and always will when in God’s truth we NEVER were.
Now don’t get me wrong as a Panamanian, I’d be lying if I say I was ever belittled, discriminated or disregarded by the tone of my skin ( because down here open discrimination is based more on status quo than race itself, most of the times at least) but me never been personally attack doesn’t mean racism doesn’t exist in my country because it does. Racism exist in commercials where only 1 out of 5 models is black, racism exist when little black girls were denied from entering school with their hair braided, racism is latent when black people isn’t allowed to wear their traditional clothes to go to public or private institutions because it doesn’t fit the standards of "proper dressing code".
This little things I noticed made me realized that just because today I’m allowed to ride in the same buses as white people do, be on the same movie theater as black people is and use the same books they use doesn’t mean we’re equal yet and not because I (and thank the Lord for that) was never stoned, shot or imprisoned for wanting to be treated fairly was I any different from the ones who were; because the truth is the only reason I’m allowed to do all of those things I said before is because of the blood and lives of brothers and sisters before me who fought the righteous fight and didn’t saw the results but regardless overcame successful.
I’m choosing this opportunity to rid my mind of all the institutional lies that this society fooled me with for so long, I’m choosing this opportunity to understand what Malcolm X meant when he said that we needed to see this as a whole as a united front and saying that not because I’m not from The States, the blood that racism and prejudice embodied in police brutality senselessly spilled is not my blood, that the lives lost do not represent the lives of my beloved ones being threatened as well, that this injustice is not going to reach me because IT WILL, sooner or later IT WILL!. Once this cancer spreads it sees not human made boundaries because lies know nothing about material limitations because they’re carried away by the people who were implanted with that seed and go wherever their host go.
I refuse here and now to be told that I shouldn’t care for what happen in a country that isn’t mine and that I should be worrying about real and concrete things that are happening in mine; because aren’t these the same people who told us that we were a Global Community or what this just another tactic to rob poor countries of their crops and riches to supply the more developed ones?. Is it really that impossible to do both?. I will not forsake my kind (humans) for cunning and evil pre-fabricated lies whose only target is to keep me in the dark and dehumanize me but above all I will not let any government rob me from my roots and make me forget that is not all the people who is dying, the people who is being brutalized is the same people that it was in the beginning, BLACK PEOPLE. In the beginning it was our fathers today it is US their children, tomorrow it could be my little brother here in Panama.
It’s too many tears, too much blood and so many names now, we must stand wherever we are in the world take this fight to us and march on until we get to the final goal that is justice. I promise this movement my involvement, my education on the matter and the making of awareness, so that at age 23 I can finally cease to fear ever giving birth to black children that will later be taken away from me unfairly and violently just because their mother is a black woman, so I don’t have to mind if my brother wears a hoodie late in the night after coming home from his job to be shot dead just because he looks suspicious, I vote to stand and fiercely, consciously, responsibly and above all tirelessly to be seen as an equal as a HUMAN BEING!.
My heart goes out to all the uniformed men whose live where lost today because of ignorance as much as my heart goes out every time a brother or a sister is taken down. I pray the Lord we’ll see brighter days where we can actually and fully live in peace. But as for now #BlackLivesMatter

For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.
I’m so saddened, this one awful sunrise for humanity not just France; it’s unbelievable at least for me that we’re humans but that the humanity in us is dying daily.
There has always, since the beggining of the destructive ungrateful race a battle of evil and good in us and the extense majority of use has repeteadly chose to be evil, to support evil that we no longer care goodness. Terror and fear spreads like wildfire; extremists know this and that’s their tool to corner us, divide us and destroy us and more than often they have succed at that.
In the wake of things that has, are and will come we have to be FEARLESS and stay put.
People like this are under the impression that the rest of the world hates them and is looking for their extermination and therefore hide themselves under the mask of a belief and ideal, a religion that can create the proper state of fear and destruction that only awakens the worst on all us and at the same re enforces their ignorance.
Let’s all remember that society’s opium is religion and altought this people might think they represent and speak for God they don’t and there xephonobia and any of it’s variation has no place in our lives and it won’t either do any good to us.
Now I won’t be a hypocrite and say I don’t hate this because I do hate the evil in them, I rebuke it and my skin crawls just to think how much damage we are willing to commit; but they as people? I just pity them. But often I also contemplate and dwell on the fact that if use that same drive and same motivation to let go and let God I will more than likely be of help to people than I am if I mop around and hate.
We have sent our prayers and we have mourn, perhaps will mourn for many days more but yesterday is today’s wake up call. It’s time for us, to stand firm and talk about gun control law, it’s time for us to take migration as a serius matter, it’s time for us to discus and seek in anyway possible to forsee and prevent event like this from happening again; yes solidarity and humanity are crucial for our society but there’s no way to guarantee my neighbor’s wellbeing when my own house is not secure enough.
This people are not playing chicken with other peoples live and we’re comitting the terrible mistake of understimating them, is now time for containment to yes help those in need but without risking the security of others, to secure borders and to find a way to first clean up the mess in the middle east and then ensure the migrants a safe place to go back to, at least that’s my belief.
Once again, I ache for France and its children and I pray that you can find Solace, comfort and never ending love and peace in this very dark time.
Love

13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Black girls: You are pretty too.
I just finished ready and old article by VV Brown for The Guardian on diversity on the runway, and it’s both sad and encouraging and isnpirational.
I related to all the words there, because as a black young girl I am familiar to the alienation and despair of not being loved for the person you are. I was there and I know better now and ecourage you guys to respect the skin you are in and know that you’re beautiful and than being black is not a curse! And that you owe it to yourselves to be free of society stereotypes!!
Here’s the link for the article check it out!: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/sep/18/black-models-london-fashion-week

On The H&M x BalmainNation feud.
Back on May when the news got to me about Balmain being this year collaborator for H&M “affordable designer collection” I swear I flipped and did so hard my mother had to shut me up the whole day. That’s how I decided well I have plenty of time to save some money so I can at least get a t-shirt hahaha.
As you all may know by now that never happened, first because I am terrible at procrastinating therefore by november 1st all I have on secondary bank account was 50$, I know tragic.
Yesterday at 8:00am just for the sake of self torture I accessed the H&M webpage to be greeted with a fancy please try later message letting me know that the site crashed and that’s when I knew this whole thing will go south and not the prettiest way. 3 hours later everything and I mean every single thing was SOLD OUT.
Now let me tell you I wasn’t at all surprised by that; matter or fact it was expected, well at least I was expecting it, H&M in the other hand didn’t!
I like to join my voice to those out there that are complaining about the very few items there were available to the public, about terrible the customer service was and about the terrible server service they offered not because I tried failed on getting anything but because this is something that should have being forseen.
When you invest so much money and time in marketing, models, parties, comercial and so on to promote a brand like Balmain you have to know that people will go wild and do as much as possible to adcquire anything they can. Server crashing that’s not the major concern, that you know happens but the fact that everything disappeared on the stores globally and there was nothing to restock them? People buying excessive amounts of one item regardless of size? Excuse me but that seems bogus.
I know this is all profit and when it comes to that people in the high ranks don’t second gues on the hows and whys but this is something that at least H&M shoulda give a thought about because you see, for Balmain this is a win situation they have their high end loyal customers that they cater for and would still buy the couture they sell in spite of this incident but H&M you guys are a worldwide retalier whose success comes from people who most of the time only dream to wear Balmain and mistreating them and disapointing them like that will severly affect your business.
Objetivity calls me to also address the customers, you guys shoulda have know better as well, now don’t get me wrong they are a hundred percent responsible for what happened but you guys should have see it coming after all the whole wide world has internet access and not Balmain is a well know brand, so that’s that.
Finally I like to conclude with some suggestion for H&M for their next collaboration with designers.
1. Let people know that the collection will be available until there are no more pieces available
2. When it comes to high end brands like in this case try and make a reasonable amount of items so it doesn’t run out in 30 min
3. Try and offer some preorder system in order to prevent system failures or crashes and in the case it does happen, have a backup server or plan.
And as for you guys that got your pretty little hands into any of those items, I HATE YOU, hahahah ;)
