I'm still waiting for the outrage about Rob Doherty admitting they turned Moriarty into a woman so they could pair her off with Sherlock.
Those moments when Sherlock smugly assures Joan he isn't being sexist even though she didn't say a word to accuse him are so irritating. Like "Women matter just as much as men in our world! To prove it, we'll show a man dressing down a woman for no apparent reason."
Elementary does not pale in comparison to BBC Sherlock. That's such an arrogant attitude. Both shows have their strengths and weaknesses.
Moriarty treats Joan like every generic villain treats the love interest of the hero. Slightly intrigued by her strength, a bit flirty, also blatantly dismissive and above all focused on the dude she's attached to.
I'm tired of the major arcs always revolving around people from Sherlock's life in England like the American cast isn't interesting enough for the writers.
I don't want Sherlock to reconcile with his dad. Every time a character with daddy issues has a dad who shows up they reconcile for some stupid reason about how they really weren't so bad, and every time I'm upset about it and pleeeeeeease for the love of God I don't want that to happen to my beloved Sherlock. It's not realistic that the issues disappear just because the jackass decides to show up.
I think that Elementary could do much better, and be really, incredibly great if it had more female writers and “character” writers on board - it’s brimming with a kind of potential that the people currently working on it just can’t see, let alone wish to pursue. You can see moments of this greatness in a lot of the awesome emotional character scenes and acting, but overall there’s too much Sherlock fanboy minor-detail circlejerking for it to impactful outside of certain scenes and episodes. They’re barely scratching the surface here and I don’t think they’re capable of realising it, and I wonder what it would be like in the hands of other less technical/procedural-minded showrunners.
I would love to see Kitty return in Season 4 for an episode or two, to see Sherlock in person after what he suffered through in the Season 3 finale.
It saddens me that some viewers feel that Kitty's character & storyline were, quoting them, 'pointless' & 'crap' that detracted from the show and its 'preferred' focus on Holmes & Watson. She changed & expanded the dynamic, that is needed to refresh things anew with new development.
Why hasn't Marcus gotten a single shred of backstory all season?
Pls, CBS, give me some Joanlock!
I know the constant struggle of trying to overcome addiction and recover from abuse. It's a rough road. Thank you, Elementary, for making the portrayal so real and also reminding us that "there is always hope". [quote from Just A Regular Irregular]
I don't get how some people just can't get over the fact that Watson is a woman on this show and it doesn't make it a bad adaptation. It's just different. It doesn't make it an illegitimate version of Sherlock.
I wonder if we're ever going to meet Joan's dad? The mention in ‘Snow Angels’ was interesting, I'd love if they explored that facet of Joan's character.
It's wrong, wrong, wrong but I don't want to be right. I ship Joanloack so hard and I will never get to see it happen in Elementary. However, the dearth of Joanlock fanfics is unacceptable! Where's all the delicious smut, people??
Kitty was truly fantastic, Ophelia's performance nearly made me cry, and her relationship to Sherlock and to Watson was amazing. I'm so sad she is gone, the show won't be the same without her- I'm worried it will get boring now, with just Watson and Sherlock.
I've started to watch Elementary on On Demand. Now, I'm on episode 16 of season one and I'm scared for when the season ends. I love whats going on right now so much and I'm always smiling...I suppose I an just hope Season 3 will be more like 1.
