jacob watched in awe as he swirled the snow in between his hands, eyes wide, a smile tugging at his lips. “really? i think i like it better than sand, too,” he says with a smirk. he watches as renesmee runs off to the next thing that captures her attention and turns back to ben. “your powers are awesome.”

“they are certainly a popular topic of conversation lately.” his grin tilted with more amusement as he stood to his feet. he had a strange, inexplicable urge to run through the snow, wondering if it’d be quite different than running in sand. i haven’t done very much of that either. “my mother said i stole fire from ra himself before my birth. perhaps i was faster than you, even then.”

* / out. bullet points about benjamin’s backstory that always make me cry:

1) he grew up on the streets of cairo with a single mother until she died. then he got passed around from family member to family member because nobody really wanted him. 2) his uncle only kept him because he discovered benjamin had legit magic (he could already manipulate and control fire). he also trained him in singing and dancing and basic street performing to make money. 3) benjamin did not FIND tia to turn her. he found her because he loved her and worried for her, and he just wanted to make sure she was alright.
