Welcome Home
“Wait... more often?” She wrinkled her nose in confusion before shaking her head rapidly, teasingly playing off that she feared of what he had just suggested. Then pretended to lie about it, “Oh no, no that isn’t too much.”
“I mean there could be some? Maybe you can’t think of any since it’s been so long since you’ve turned.” It couldn’t be all bad, right? At least that’s what she hoped. She raised an eyebrow at him curiously, “The worst? Like giving into the blood kind of worse or no control worse?” It's already hard for her to see Stefan struggle with his own cravings, she didn’t want to make it more difficult for him by having him babysit her during the transition. It was close to impossible to imagine how it would play out, till it does which quite honestly sucked.
She noticed his little eye roll before laughing to herself, “Trust me, it can. But if you don’t want this issue go away then I guess there’s nothing left for me to do.” It was impossible for her to be serious for even a second with his corny remarks, not that she minded that or anything.
Elena nodded her head as he explained the cons realizing that he was right. There was no way Elena would want Serena to come in harms way and be the reason her dad couldn’t do as much to help her. Then she borrowed some of his words, teasingly, “Am I allowed to correct you? You don’t have to protect me, as much as I know you want to.” She can take care of herself, she had thus far. And besides, she cared about him too much to get him in trouble for something stupid she had done.
She set aside the napkins and pen and looked up at him, and ran her fingers through his hair following a smile, “Good, or I would have said something about it,” she teased. “Before you became my husband, you became Serena’s dad. And I don’t want you do anything you aren’t sure of. Even if you feel like I’m enough.” She sighed, “I love you, regardless of what you want or choose. ”
Welcome Home
Elena pulled her lips away from his for a moment, “Well that was quite a tactic, Mister Salvatore”. She grinned to herself before leaning back in and kissing him again, "But I hope you know you don’t need an excuse to kiss me,” she said reassuringly. “It should, because I’m being serious. I don’t want you end up a metal asylum because I spread the crazy to you. That would just be tragic.” Though, it was awfully difficult for her to say all that with a straight face.
“Uh.. are you kidding? I can’t take that off from the pros list! That leaves one pro and lifting,” she claimed with a frown. Elena was fortunate enough to have him explain the good, the bad, and the ugly. She honestly didn’t have a clue what she was gunna get herself into. It was best to know now than know too late.
She rose an eyebrow at him, “You can’t get enough of your wife? That can be fixed.”
Elena nodded her head innocently before answering him, “Yeah... I kinda am. I didn’t think you’d want to live the boring human life.” Him going along with the joke made her laugh till she reached over for another napkin to write down another list, “Uhm I guess let’s go with cons first. What do you have?”
Welcome Home
A frown appeared on her face from him asking her to stop talking. But that quickly faded once he kissed her and it didn’t take long for her to return it. "Meanie,” she mumbled on his lips. His words caused her to pout teasingly till she innocently tried to convince him otherwise, “No no don’t be scared. I’ll just... make sure I maintain the crazy when I’m around you!”
She looked up at him from the sound of his voice and she couldn’t help but laugh under her breath in amusement, “Hi there”. “Oh... you’re right. I would get miserable trying to get them to get them to drink from bags,” she sighed. There really wasn’t anything she could do to make their transition easier, let having just transitioned herself. She nodded her head to show that she understood what he meant, “Mhm. I guess I’ll just have to use my abilities to get them to the hospital fast enough to save their life.”
Elena wasn’t going to assume that he wanted to be around for that long, even though they did the vows and everything. She smiled brightly at him before kissing him on the lips, “Forever and a day? Interesting...” There was no way she wasn’t going to hold him to that.
“Really?” She didn’t think he would want to, for that very reason. He hasn’t been one for so long, why change now? “Aw.” Elena gave him a sincere smile before she nodded and reached for another napkin, “Good thing we got more of these.”
Always and FOREVER
Welcome Home
“Come on... ours is fine considering the conditions. And besides, there was a point when we both looked the same age. You can’t say the same for a 12 and 17 year old.” She gave him a considerate look before smiling innocently and nodding her head, “Yeah I kinda do. And little is an understatement, just wait till I go full blown crazy.” Elena rose an eyebrow at him, “Never? Unless there’s a fountain of youth that you aren’t telling me or that you’re on board with this vampire thing then the cougar-y feeling will eventually kick in.”
“Oh no,” she exaggerated her reaction to his words, “You’re right. Shame on me. The story wouldn’t even exist without them meeting.” It was relieving to hear that Stefan vetoed that idea, if it wasn’t obvious she wasn’t much of a fan.
Was there a right or wrong in this? She couldn’t really tell. And with them, nothing ever really does go as planned. So who knew how this would turn out.
Elena grinned like a big goof once she felt his arm around her, causing her to cuddle up close to him, “Shoot, you’re right. Well then I’ll have to make them my new vamp friend and convince them that it’s either blood bags or death.” She looked up at him a surprised expression, “Seriously? You really want to be around your terrible wife for that long?”
But then she grew even more stunned when he mentioned him turning into a human, “You sure? I don’t want you to do anything you don’t want to.”

Welcome Home
His words caused her to make a face in return, “Okay if that were true, then I’m really concerned as to why this town allowed someone as young as a 12 year old to be with a 17 year old in the first place.” She argued, though it was far from the truth. Elena gave him a small smile before she had to refute, “Not yet.”
“Mhm.. true they did kill themselves. But if Romeo and Juliet hadn’t met then they wouldn’t have. Regardless, Serena’s needs her dad so I’m never going to let that happen to either of us,” she confirmed with a nod. Thank goodness it wasn’t going to resemble either of their futures.
The slight smile that appeared on his lips soothed her thoughts about the whole thing. It wasn’t going to be a decision they would make overnight, which was probably for the best. More than anything, it’ll be one of the most conflicting things she’ll have to do. And who knows how adding children to the picture will change it. But that obviously was a different conversation to have. Elena nodded her head slowly, “Mhm, I could imagine...”
But before Elena started to write again she got up to sit on his couch instead of her own, taking the very handy napkin and pen with her too. “Pros, um, I can heal people, help people, oh and I can lift anything,” she joked. “Oh right, and of course be with you forever. What are yours?”
Welcome Home
It was close to impossible not to raise an eyebrow at his, what she found amusing, comment, “I would never be able to pass for a 17 year old. I did not wear sunscreen that religiously. And I’m sorry to break it to you, you very much still look like one.”
She gave a simple shrug, there was no doubt that some may get heartbroken over loosing someone like Stefan especially at such a young age, “You never know. People can get emotional over something like that and have no other choice but to blame me for it.”
“It was the first thing I found, and just as effective as paper you know,” she attempted to lighten the air just a little bit, but honestly had no clue if it was effective. Of course, this wasn’t going to be acted upon immediately. She simply didn’t want to wait around at the last minute and spontaneously make a decision and get frustrated enough by deciding based on a coin flip.
Once Stefan started to list the many, many cons she began to write them down on the napkin and she nodded along to them. She had forgotten the different problems that could and will arise from the transition, till he started to list them. It was quite obvious that he didn’t like the idea, and there was most likely a larger part of her that didn’t either. Stefan gave her many good reasons as to why it was a bad idea, but none of them struck her as hard as not being able to have children did. Though there wasn’t much of a difference in that aspect anyways, it would be close to impossible right now, her chances would only get slimmer if she turned. She looked back up at him before she resumed to look at the list, “I know this sounds like a crazy, out of this world, stupid idea but at least it’s something.” Elena was about to start writing again when she began to think, “Uh, emotions are at an all time high all the time, food doesn’t taste as good, you have to lay low if humans begin to suspect anything. Oh sunlight is an issue and you can easily flip the switch.”
Welcome Home
It was a good thing Elena had the many tendencies that she did, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to laugh from the thought of that sort of a scenario occurring. Which did have a very high chance of occurring, so she was quite grateful for them at the moment. She nodded her head in agreement, “Exactly. It’s just so much easier.”
“I know. I know. But I’m just saying if anything, then that would be your way out.” Elena pretended to think about the part where if she wanted him anymore, “Oh right... I mean that would never occur since I kinda always want you around.” Damn he was making far too many good points tonight, definitely not what she was expecting, “Yeah but like you look so young that it doesn’t matter because you know I age and you like... don’t so,” she attempted to sound somewhat reasoning, though she clearly sucked at it.
She couldn’t help but laugh again, even with as serious of a conversation as they were taking part in. “Mhm that does satisfy the Till death do us part part of our vows. But I really don’t want to be hated on posthumously for taking away everyone’s favorite vampire.”
Elena grinned once he settled on the list before she looked around the living room for a pen until she sat back down with the napkin in between them to begin writing on. She looked up at him once she was ready for some of them, “Let’s start with cons... what do you have?”
Welcome Home
Awesome cook? Elena really couldn’t believe he just said what he had. “Stefan, I’m a lost cause when it comes to cooking. No matter how many times I try, it’ll always turn out to be a disaster and we’d just order take out. So, why not skip the mess and just order pizza?” She suggested, playfully. It didn’t take long for her to warm up from hearing him like pizza.
She shrugged her shoulders, “I don’t know, I mean... you could just run away and send me divorce papers. It isn’t that hard.” Although Stefan made a good point, but that didn’t stop Elena from mentioning as crazy of an idea as that one. “I know that’s much later in the future but I don’t want any semblance of that. Not even a little bit. Plus, just the thought of being a cougar kind of freaks me out.”
“I’m saying that maybe... I should turn?” She knew it was stupid to even suggest it since he would hate that idea no matter how many years had passed. But it was something that bugged her enough to mention. “You we could make a pros and cons list and everything,” she exclaimed innocently.
Welcome Home
Elena grinned to herself once he planted the kiss on her forehead before she closed the door behind her. His confusion kind of amused her in that moment, especially since it was usually her that’s perpetually confused.
She couldn’t help but laugh under her breath and shake her head to confirm that that was certainly not what she meant. “Tired of your cooking? As if. I just can’t enough of it it’s just so good. But you deserve a break from it and if there is anything that I’m good at, it’s ordering some pizza,” she finished with an optimistic smile.
She took the knife from his hand before she started to cut a slice of pizza until she paused once he asked her the question and looked up at him when she started talking. “Okay... uhm... so,” it was more than obvious just how nervous she was, but it wasn’t because of him but she simply had no idea how to talk about it. “I don’t know about you... but I kind of want to be with you forever, and I don’t mean like you having to remind me what everyone’s name is or carry my cane everywhere.”
Welcome Home
You know the saying, It's been awhile, but I still feel the same. That’s just the way Elena felt every time she laid eyes on her husband. Whether it was after months apart, drunk, and unable to comprehend a thing, or waking up right next to him. The feeling of pure, unhinged, content. Not a day did she feel anything less.
Elena unlocked the front door and tried to walk in and tip toe quietly to the room, before he caught her right at the entrance. She attempted to be cool for a second, though it didn’t didn’t take long for her to realize he could read her like a book and known something was up. So she simply waved and gave him a soft grin, playing an innocent tone “Hi Hubby”.
She knows she hasn’t been able to be there for him when he needed her the most, or been able to provide much, or do anything. But not for much longer. “I got you something!” She exclaimed in true excitement before teasingly whipping out a pizza box, “Tada!” Well, that wasn’t the only thing she got, and certainly not the best part but that could wait a minute or two.
“I know. I know. Lame. But hey, you know it goes along with a lame wife that does nothing but eat all the good food you make so I had to go with my crappy instincts on this one.” She gave him a half smile before pretending to be serious for a moment, “And I think we should talk,” she said, nervously.

Just Not Enough
She rose an eyebrow at him just to double check that he was feeling fine. “I’d disagree,” she then dropped her hands from his hair before leaning in to kiss him. “You could never be insufferable. With or without a full head of hair.” But then she couldn’t help but laugh at his remark, “You? Have a nervous breakdown? Interesting.” She grinned before shaking her head, “I doubt that would happen. And even if it did, that’s okay. I’m sure that I you have had to deal with more of my breakdowns within the last decade than you have over your entire lifetime.” Which means that she is long overdue for an apology for making him suffer through that.
Elena made a face as if she was embarrassed, “Oh no... you’re right.” She attempted to contain her laughter, especially once he laughed, “I’m sorry. You are definitely not pathetic. You are like... the coolest guy I know!” She teased. “Even if you were a tiny bit pathetic, I wouldn’t want you in any other way.” And she smiled once he kissed her forehead reassuringly.
She nodded her head slowly, “Hm. You’re right, I can’t complain about having my own car. But I’d much rather drive a car with you in it.”
Elena stood there in awe, she couldn’t really express what she felt in that moment. All she knew was that she was nothing less thane extremely content. She shook her head, thinking he was crazy to have even asked that, “No I absolutely love it. And you.” It was by far nicer than any restaurant known to man.
She grinned once he took her hand following a twirl before landing right infront of him, “Mrs. Salvatore... I can definitely get use to that.”
Just Not Enough
Elena looked at him strangely once he asked her if she was feeling ill, “No I’m completely fine.” Then she mimicked his movements and placed a hand on his forehead, “Are you?” But then she pulled his hair back with both of her hands to make him appear bald, “See? You’re still very hot.” She shook her head innocently, “No you are not going to be kicked out of anywhere. Not our bed, and definitely not our home.”
She listened to him and noticed his glance before he apologized then she signed and nodded her head, “Very pathetic. Very stupidly pathetic.” But that didn’t stop her from leaning in to kiss his cheek. “It’s a good thing you don’t have to fight that anymore.” And she hoped not ever. He was stuck with her for life; which left the chances of separation being close to zero.
“No you aren’t letting me walk. And if you did, you would be in big trouble.” Elena grinned once he touched her hair and shrugged her shoulders, “Or I could drive your car and you can, I don’t know... ride a bike or go be foot,” she teased.
Elena held onto his hand and followed his lead but then she closed her eyes once he asked her to. It takes a lot to startle her, but when he hugged her from behind that was exactly what he did to her. She was initially confused once she opened her eyes and looked to him, “What’s this?” She gazed at the candles, the torches, the gazebo, everything until she laid her arms on his and turned around and still kept her hands in his, “Are you kidding? As if I’d ever pass up to have a dance with you.”
