ELENDEL, SCADRIAL 556: Elendel City is not what it once was.  The capital of politics, science, arts and education is now wavering under the weight of a spreading drug epidemic and the crime that comes with it. The mists seem to no longer provide the solace they once did, and the law is struggling to keep up. Mistings, Ferrings, and humans alike all live day by day, adapting to the expansion of the world around them. Technology has advanced to mimic modern day luxuries, while both the city and outlying counties have grown in both size and population. But with advancing technology comes new problems, for both those gifted with the metallic arts and those who are not. Elendel is slowly deteriorating into a city run by gangsters and drug lords, as the addictive narcotic Metalfire continues to grow in popularity and availability. Corruption, sex, drugs, and death… Think you have what it takes to keep up in the city?

biography ;
Born on the warmest day recorded in the history of Covingstar, Rose Eloweyn Thrace was five pounds eleven ounces, to human parents that wanted her. Desperately so.
Siobhan and Benjamin Thrace weren’t really trying for children at the time, but Siobhan always wanted at least one. Well, truthfully, it was her dream to have a huge family, but because Benjamin was not as keen on that so they were able to come to a compromise of hopefully having at least one — in the future. Why Benjamin wanted to wait, Siobhan didn’t understand, they had been married for five years, financially stable and in love but she respected her husband’s wishes. Then, five more years passed and Benjamin still didn’t change his mind and Siobahn couldn’t take it any longer. After a heated argument about the matter, Siobahn slammed the door on her way out of their house, promising to go to her sister’s house to “cool off” though she had no intention on doing so. She wanted to hurt him, she wanted a form of revenge, and she wanted children. And maybe a stranger, one that she was not aware possessed the metallic arts, could provide he of one. A passionate affair of just one night commenced and the fidelity that Siobahn had previously had to her husband was broken. The woman hoped that her affair would possibly give her a child, also hoping that her storm out on her husband would make him change his mind about the subject of children. She was manipulative, and years of resentment towards her husband because her needs were not met pushed her towards these actions – though it paid off in the end. When she finally came back, Benjamin agreed to children and Siobahn had insurance or sorts, just in case he was to back out.
Nine months went by quickly, Rose was born. Benjamin was much more ecstatic than he thought he would ever be, having his daughter in his arms for the first time was the minute he realized just how much he had wanted her all along.  While her name would indicate her to be delicate, easy, and ladylike — Rose was anything but those three adjectives. Hyperactive, always getting into things she shouldn’t, and getting into some sort of trouble whether it was in school – she found she was always labeled a screw up by her peers and teachers. Too add to her hyperactivity, she was also dyslexic. While her parent tried to encourage her to do well in school, it didn’t seem to work in the slightest. From a young age, Rose just stopped caring about school all together. She barely passed each grade, and sometimes only did because her teachers really didn’t want to have to deal with her another year. Still, she had the love of her father, a love she deeply relied on which got her by for years – a love that was also extremely coveted by her mother. It was after Rose’s eighteenth birthday, when she became a legal adult, that her mother’s behavior started to shift towards her and more talk of “being independent” and “moving out” started to ring through the Thrace household. Rose hadn’t given too much of a thought about what her future looked like – there weren’t too many options in the town she lived in and the fact that Rose had depended heavily on her parents in many ways didn’t help the matter. Stressed out one night about it, Rose left and went to get a drink at a local bar, coming back slightly drunk and to what was the equivalent to a verbal war zone between her parents. Â
After her father found out the truth about her, something that Rose herself had even known until the screams of her parents, she expected him to stay. To fight for his daughter, to say he loved her, though it was not the case. After begging him to stay herself, the last words he said to her were, “you’re not my daughter”, words that broke Rose into millions of pieces – or so it felt like. A rage within her grew as she yelled at her mother, and finally, after she practically punched through a wall in their house from the same rage, she packed up and left, only bringing a few of her most beloved items with her. Soon, she was homeless on the streets of Elendel, until she was picked up by the Survivorists – a group that she then wholeheartedly put her faith into them. Caine was practically her god, while what they stood for her – her gospel. Quickly enough, she met someone, the first friend she truly ever had – Ruari Ladrian, and felt that she had finally found what happiness was. She had something to fight for, to stand for, and a person to trust. Until he left without a word. It devastated her, especially because she had no clue to as why he left and years later still has no clue. Now, Rose is still doing what she can for the Survivorists, along with being an event photographer, questions that she tries to quell by doing dangerous stunts and pledging her loyalty fully to the cause.

biography ;
Malia Snapped quite young, at the age of five, after her mother Renata was killed in a car accident. Her grief was so strong that it brought out her latent powers. These days, Malia remembers very little of it, she doesn’t even remember how they figured out she was a Pewterarm. What she does remember is her father, Sol, deciding that “this was their chance.” Having grown up in the 5th Octant, Malia knew her father dreamed of moving into the first or second. Dreamed of a life of wealth and reknown instead of a life of hardwork for little reward. And yet somehow, he managed to work extremely hard. He had hired a Pewterarm tutor to train her in her new gifts, both in optimising the use of Pewter but in all forms of combat. It was a strange way to grow up, spending her days in school and her evenings fighting.
By the time she was 12, Malia was a skilled fighter and an accomplished Pewterarm. Since she was so small and fragile looking, her main skill was her ability to be incredibly underestimated. And this was a skill her father was thankful for. Sol, began to hire her out to families of the Upper Octants, that had children about Malia’s age. Malia would pose as a friend of the child, while really being hired as a bodyguard. She was a misting, not a twinborn, and there were others with far more formidable skills than her own. But nobody suspected her true purpose and it worked to her advantage. Malia found that she liked the socialites of the upper octants well enough, and she would protect them (well, most of them), even at the cost of her own life, but she wasn’t overly fond of the octants themselves. She had been far more comfortable back home in the fifth octant. When she was eighteen, Sol passed away from a heart attack and Malia took the opportunity to move back into the fifth octant. Maybe it wasn’t as nice as the second, and maybe the crime rate was higher, but that didn’t really bother Malia. It was home.
The other thing she took the opportunity to do was to pick her own clients. Malia liked protecting people, but that didn’t mean she’d risk her life for just anybody. She cut the less reputable clients from her list, people who wanted “protecting” from the authorities, and only kept in touch with those she felt actually needed her help. She also began offering her services pro-bono to people who desperately needed someone to look out for them, but couldn’t pay. Something common in her Octant. Battered wives, abused children, kids who’d gotten themselves into trouble with gangs or the like. She took a job at her local florist to help bulk up her income.

 • 31 years old | Youth Pastor/Leader | Survivorist •
biography ;
Caine Colt was born to Leonal and Kiva Colt. His father, Leonal, was a pastor in a local Survivorist church, and his mother was an attorney. They were both deeply religious and brought him up to value the same ideals, hoping that their son would not make the same mistakes they had made in their youth, and that they saw others making.
Caine went along with it willingly for the majority of his own youth. He was a natural leader. He became a member--unbeknownst to his parents--of the True Survivorists, where his charisma and passionate nature set him apart among other members. At seventeen, he was already second-in-command. Years later, the old leader would place Caine in his position, believing the young man to have vision and the power to achieve it.
The True Survivorists are radicals who believe in anarchy. They are the source of the majority of terrorist threats in Elendel: primarily bomb threats and arson. Under Caine's administration, they have begun to target higher-profile victims: politicians, businesses and business owners, and other authoritative figures that stand against Survivorist ideals of equality. The True Survivorists tend to target Sliverists most actively.
Caine maintained a fairly low profile and a standard life outside of these activities. He attended University of Elendel for a BA in religious studies, with a minor in political sciences. He had always been a very intellectual individual, personable and charismatic.
His charisma is part of what makes Caine so dangerous and so good at what he does. He is a master manipulator, seeing how he can use a person to further his religious causes. Most people would not believe this of him, because he presents himself as the sort of person who would never cause harm to another: physical or otherwise. In fact, he is highly disillusioned with his religion and thrives off of the attention and power it gives him. He lives for control, and under the guise of religion, this can be very dangerous. He is not volatile, but rather calculating.
Under his leadership, the True Survivorists have managed to rally together. He left Elendel a few years ago for recruitment purposes, treating it like a pilgrimage of sorts, and has only recently returned to Elendel.
personality ;
+ Intelligent, controlled, charismatic
- Manipulative, disillusioned, deluded
other information ;
• Caine instinctively gauges other people for how useful they will be to him. He uses religious rhetoric to target vulnerable individuals and gain their trust. • He has lengthwise scars running up and down his forearms. These are self-inflicted, a symbol of his commitment to the cause of the Survivor. • As a twinborn who can compound metals, Caine wears steel all over his body--armbands, wrist guards, and multiple earrings. All of these pierce his skin so he can compound effectively. • For the compounding itself, Caine has multiple braces on his arms, back, and legs when he uses Steelpushes to navigate around the city, as well as a specialized pair of boots. These are designed to absorb damage from high falls at relatively high speeds.

Everyone has their secrets, and Vinna Harms is no different. The details of her life, and who she was before arriving in Elendel, have always been somewhat blurred ― and she prefers to keep it that way. The daughter of a failed criminal legacy, Vinna and her twin brother have dedicated themselves to succeeding where their parents failed. Elendel is a city that has grown sick with corruption, and they plan on using that fact to their advantage. To a random person on the street, Vinna is just one of many young women with a dead-end job in the big city, and that's a view that she takes advantage of. The less people know about her, the better, and with that mystery is more room for her to create and build without truth blockading her. While her brother excelled in the sciences, Vinna herself was drawn to the arts. During the more prosperous times of her youth, she had taken a number of painting classes, music lessons, and had read every book she could get her hands on. Her teachers encouraged her to apply to universities in Elendel, but Vin had no interest in leaving her brother for a formal education. She painted because she enjoyed capturing the essences of people and places, she read because it fascinated her to see how complex characters could be, and she played the violin because it was so similar to playing a person ― strike the right chords at the right time, and you could get a beautiful result. Every step her and Kelsien took before getting to Elendel was an intricate and thought-out one, and they honed in on their various strengths and weaknesses to make sure there was nothing the big city could do to break them. Building an empire isn't easy, but, planning isn’t always a good thing. One cannot plan the entirety of one’s life. Plans must stop somewhere. Nobody will see it coming ― not Elendel, not even her. To her, the world is an instrument for the playing; life is a game, and she intends on winning it. She’s not a psychopath. She simply reads too fast. Vinna is only happy when she’s playing their game.

biography ;
The Survivor used to say that there was always another secret.
His name and legacy have shadowed Kelsien Harms' existence since the day he was born. In Kelsien's life, there was always another secret - another facet to his family, another nook in his history and his psyche.
As one of two children to the heads of a significant crime syndicate in the Roughs, Kelsien Harms grew up in the lap of luxury with his parents and twin sister. It was often said that life in the Roughs was quaint, rustic - perhaps for some, but Weathering had grown since its days as an outpost infested with small-time criminals, murderers and rapists. No, nobody seemed to give it enough credit. The Harms family (distantly related and long ago exiled from its fellows in the Basin) were devout Survivorists, and on the side, the keepers of a drug cartel that controlled the Northern Roughs all the way to the tip of the Faleast mountain range.Â
It wasn't enough. Metalfire began as a whisper in the crater of a Tineye's ear and spread like poison until it reached Weathering. By then, it was too late. The cartels in the Basin - the capital, in particular - already controlled the primary avenues of the drug trade: the routes, the product... even the authorities seemed to be in the pockets of the Elendel moguls. The Harms legacy crumbled slowly. By the time Kelsien was twenty, there was nearly nothing left. Â Â
Kelsien himself had spent little time pursuing conventional interests. He found schoolwork too easy and too boring, and turned his focus elsewhere: parkour helped him in running from local lawmen, sleight of hand helped him make a couple of quick doxings, and when he had time, he buried himself in science, particularly metallurgy and the effects of allomancy on human biology. When he could, he oversaw distribution of what was left of his family's drug empire. Â Â
These interests rarely surfaced in his everyday ventures, however. On the outside, he maintained the facade of a spoiled, reckless young man who cared for very little outside of his family, even when it came to his own wellbeing. He was frequently underestimated in scholarly pursuits, labeled a delinquent by the education and legal systems. He didn't seem to care much; he stirred up altercations in school with his cocky, lackadaisical attitude and evaded encounters with local law enforcement like it was a game. Â Â
To him, it was a game. Â Â
When his family started to fall apart, he stopped playing and started taking the game seriously. It was time to step up and act. Beneath the mask of an irresponsible rich boy, something else surfaced. Kelsien began to make use of his family's sphere of influence, making his own web of connections. They said his tongue was pure silver. When it came to talking people down and forging deals, he was unstoppable. Â Â
After a few years spent cultivating a network of connections and learning a few tricks with his sister, the twins moved to Elendel to make their own name and take Elendel's underworld by storm. Sometimes, the only way you can fix a thing is to melt it down to its roots and forge it into something better.
personality ;
+ Charming, intelligent, driven - Superficial, reckless, uncaring
other information ;
• Kelsien is a compulsive thrill-seeker. He takes high risks to the point where it appears he does not care about himself. Indeed, the only person he appears to care about at all is his sister. • He is a talented marksman and owns a few aluminum pistols, but he rarely uses these because he does not care for guns. For all he raises the ire of other people, he shows a surprising pacifistic streak.

biography ;
Ruari Ladrian is — through his father — a direct descendent of Waxillium Ladrian, and it is his immediate family that presides over most of the fourth octant, his father being the Dean of the Ladrian Institute of Metallurgy and his mother a prominent engineer at the Electric Plant. Everyone knew that the Ladrian children were going places, especially when such pristine individuals were raising them, and people were right — for the most part. The eldest son, Luuk, was the heir of the family, and from a young age most of the attention and dedication was placed in him, that he would be a worthy businessman and eventual head of the family. The youngest child, Margaux, followed in her mother’s footsteps and soon became a Professor of Engineering at Elendel University, marrying young and starting her own life in the third octant. Which left Ruari; not so as accomplished as his parents and siblings, to say the least. He was fifteen years old when he started hanging around the wrong sort of crowd, being lured into the world of radical survivorists by clever words and false promises. He was young, though, and desperate enough in his desire to break away from his family that he thought it would be a good idea — even worse, he thought what he was doing and believing was right. He stayed with the “extreme survivorists” a long time, growing close to one member in particular: Caine. He was a natural leader, the other kid, and by the time Ruari was twenty his “friend” had risen to the highest place in the ranks of their radicals. He had passion and charisma unlike any other, and things started changing in no time. But, the changes were menacing, the tasks daunting, and it was then that Ruari began doubting the cause he’d dedicated himself to. It wasn’t enough, though. Not yet. He started distancing himself from the extremists over time, pulling further and further away until it was fairly obvious to his former family that he wanted as little to do with them as possible. Unfortunately for him, it wasn’t going to be so easy to cut off his ties. Caine came to him with job, persuading him to set fire to a building and promising that no harm would come from it other than property damage. Ruari did as he was asked, walking away from the fire believing the worst he’d done was rid Elendel one of it’s awful buildings. He was mistaken, though. It was a few days after that he realised the truth: Caine had lied to him, and Ruari had inadvertently killed twenty people.It was too much for him then, he didn’t know how the others could live with it, but Ruari couldn’t. He went to his brother after that, their relationship having always been close and Luuk now running most of the Ladrian affairs, confiding in him what had happened and begging for help; his brother did not refuse him. Ruari spent the following two years laying low and off the radar, spending some time in Dryport before he finally returned to Elendel. Luuk gave Ruari a portion of his inheritance, allowing his younger brother to start a new life for himself in the city. Ruari didn’t waste the opportunity, and opened his own business with the money — a pub and inn. He keeps mostly to himself these days, only ever interacting with his siblings and occasionally seeking the comfort of pretty ladies. Ruari’s been careful not to have any run-ins with his past, though, and would prefer to keep it that way. But, as a wise man once said: you can’t always get what you want. Â
personality ;
+ Loyal, Open-minded, Charming - Secretive, Bitter, Withdrawn
other information ;
• His romantic endeavours never last very long, unfortunately — not because he doesn’t care for the person, but mostly because Ruari never thinks he’s good enough to be with the person. • He has two tattoos on either side of his arm, allomantic symbols, both of which he got while drunk and out on a pub crawl with a few mates, Rose Thrace included. • He’s got a dog called Sam that he walks every morning and night. He never misses the walks, and will actually cancel plans (not that he has any) if he’s forgotten to do so.

biography ;
Ferra is the only child and sole heir to the Yomen family, an ancient and powerful whose  business dealings (both legal and otherwise) effect every part of Elendel City. Groomed from birth to be the perfect legacy, Ferra was kept out of the public eye; home schooled and trained inside the gates of Yomen Mansion. She adapted quickly to her general studies; as well as her father's required lessons in economy, business etiquette, weaponry, combat and public speaking.  Her mother Mallyé, also a lurcher, guided Ferra in her allomantic and feruchemal training, as well as passed on the practices of the family's Sliverist beliefs, a religion which Ferra remains a devout member.
She integrated herself with her father's company and illegal dealings at a very young age, surpassing even his most loyal lieutenants in rank before her mother was killed by suvivorist extremists when she was 15. The sudden loss of her mother awoke a ruthless core in her that was already slowly growing, causing her to become easily angered and increasingly violent. She promised herself she would have vengeance, not just on the lone murderer, but all who followed the Survivor of Hathsin-- a sentiment her father saw as too rash and reckless, which quickly drove a rift between them, though Ferra did her best to bury her discontent.
At 18, Ferra chose to take a step away from her father's immediate footsteps, venturing into her own entrepreneurial enterprises. She founded a dance club, bar and Gentlemen's Club within their octant, single-handedly altering Elendel's night life and making a name for herself in the public sector independent of her family name. She quickly developed the reputation of a rich party girl, spending nearly every night at one of her clubs and often finding herself in the local tabloids in the morning. Using the clubs as a front and taking advantage of her father's apathy for basic bookkeeping and lack of micromanaging, she assembled her own small but loyal band of allomancers and ferrings. With her influence and money, she single-handedly regulated the traffic and price fluxes of the city's metalfire trade, bringing all major dealers and distributors under her umbrella. She has become a favorite target of the police, though through her collection of lawyers and ties to government officials she is practically untouchable.
Ferra thrives on the thrill of command and manipulation, the more she lies the happier she is, and many of her followers claim her to be a crazy due to her overuse of her feruchemy and the way it affects her brain chemistry. Her near-fanatical practices of Sliverist rituals are unsettling to most as well, as it's beliefs are not well known or widely followed. Â She is very selfish and temperamental, and can go from calm to irrational at the drop of a hat. She is no stranger to violence and is not afraid to use it to further her goals, including ordering a hit on her own father in order to ascend her throne in order to eradicate the survivorists, starting with their leader, Caine Colt.
personality ;
+ dedicated, eloquent, strategic - temperamental, sociopathic, manipulative
other information ;
• She has seven matching tattoos of iron spike heads. Two on her shoulder blades, one over her heart, and two on each side of her rib cage.  The marks are a symbolic devotion to Ironeyes and the Sliverism tradition of hemalurgy. • The mistcoat that Ferra wears is a keepsake passed down through her mother’s side of the family, and she considers it her most prized possession, alongside the set of aluminum twin daggers, also bestowed to her when her mother died. • Ferra finds little value in romantic entanglements beyond whatever use the person can provide her to further her own goals.  If anyone becomes useless to her, even those particularly close to her, she will dispose of them.

Violence has always been a part of Ren’s life. From his abusive father, to school yard bullies, it’s always been there. It should come as no surprise to anyone, what Ren became. It was succumb to the violence, or embrace it. Ren chose the latter. The one non-violent thing in his life was his younger sister Allienne. He’d been 3 years old when she’d been born, and from day one, Ren had taken his job as older brother very seriously. At first it was easy, all he had to do was adore her. But as he got older, and their mother began to drink her way into oblivion, he took on more responsibility. Feed her, wash her, change her, take her to school, protect her from the worst of their father’s rage. He loved Alli more than anything else in the world. At school it was hard for him to stay out of trouble. Try as he might, he always ended up fighting someone. Someone trying to feel tough by picking on him, someone trying to insult where he came from and - especially later - someone speaking inappropriatey about Alli. He would pick her up from school, his face covered in cuts and bruises, and she would sigh and smile and patch him up when they got home. It didn’t matter what was going on, what terrible thing happened, Alli always had a smile for him. Until one day, when he was sixteen and Alli was thirteen, Ren was sitting in Detention, unable to walk Alli home from school like he promised. He had hoped she would wait for him, but by the time he got to their meeting place, she was long gone. When he finally made it home, Alli was already there, sitting at the kitchen table, her head in her hands. Her shoulders shook with sobs, her clothing torn, their father screaming at her about what a disgusting whore she was. Ren socked him in the jaw, took Alli to her room and demanded to know what had happened. A boy in the year below him in school had offered to walk Alli home, had taken her “a shortcut” and had beat and raped her. His hands balled into fists so tight, his knuckles turned white. His nails digging into his palms so hard they drew blood. Alli begged him not to do anything, “I’m fine,” she said. “Ren please, don’t get into trouble.” But whatever she said, she was never the same after. Her smile not as bright. She flinched at loud sounds and started at shadows. And so Ren made up his mind. He found the boy, Wick his name was, but he didn’t confront him immediately. In fact, he stalked him for months before hand. Breaking into his house occasionally and moving things around in his room. Following close behind him when he walked home from school, but ducking out of sight when he turned around. Ren wanted him as paranoid as Alli was before he came for him. Finally the day came, he followed Wick into an alley and let his rage loose. Hitting the boy in the face repeatedly. It was at this moment, his anger so strong, that he Snapped. He didn’t realise it, of course, until Wick managed to pull a knife on him. They struggled with it briefly until finally Ren managed to turn the blade towards the other boy. He couldn’t find the strength to push it toward him though. But then, somehow, unconsciously, he /pushed/ and the knife slid into Wick like he was butter. He watched Wick bleed out, watched the light dim from his eyes, a strange calm washing over him. So that’s what it was like to kill someone. He stuffed his blood covered hands into his pockets and trudged home, to find his father once again yelling at Alli, threatening violence. This time it was easy. He pulled a coin from his pocket and tossed it at his father’s head, using another push to increase it’s speed. It struck him square in the forehead and stuck there. His father stared at him in surprise before crumpling to the ground. Seeing Alli’s look of horror, Ren immediately left the house and did not return for several weeks. By that time he had taken in with one of the local gangs. They’d offered him good money to run errands, and once they discovered he was a murderer, well… he’d gotten a pretty interesting promotion. Alli wanted nothing to do with him, not after what he’d done. Ren agreed to leave again, but set up an account for Alli where a percentage of his new wages was to go. To this day he has no idea if she’s ever used it. It didn’t take long for him to make a name for himself as a hitman in the underground. Especially with his habit of stalking his target until they are terrified before actually killing them, earning himself the moniker “The Watcher.” It was a year or so later when he finally discovered his second ability as a Windwhisperer, but once he did, it didn’t take him long to master it. He trained himself to fight using only one sense at a time, making him a fearsome opponent, particularly in the dark. When finally he felt that his gang affiliations could no longer advance him in his chosen career, Ren moved on to the world of private contracting, offering his services to anybody who could meet his price.

Life on the streets was all Jax knew.  Orphaned at birth and named Tommie Robicheau by the matron of the orphanage where he was sent, Jax quickly learned how to fend for himself.  A quiet, skittish and untrusting child,  he ran away from the orphanage once he was old enough to realize he didn’t have to obey anyone else’s rules.  Years as a street urchin hardened him, but also helped him learn to see the silver lining in things-- without optimism in his situation, there was just giving up, and he didn’t really see that as a viable option.  He always believed there was something bigger meant for him than just picking pockets and stealing food.
At 11, after weeks of scouting the building and the process, Jax snuck himself into a free clinic allomantic testing facility by paying a homeless man to be his guardian.  His results were better than he could ever have hoped. Not just a bendalloy allomancer-- but a compounder.  After Snapping, he quickly burned through the free shavings the clinic had given him while practice, and set out finding a way to secure a steady supply of one of the world’s more rare metals.
Sliding made it easier to steal, and stealing made it easier to get bendalloy-- plus with his feruchemy, eating was really no longer a concern. Â Spending a few weeks eating as much as he could allowed him to go months without eating at all. Â For nearly two years he continued on in this cycle; stealing bendalloy, food, money-- anything he could stockpile for later in hopes of living a bit more of a relaxed life. Â At least, that was, until he met the True Survivorists.
Running into the group while breaking into a Yomen Enterprises warehouse of metal shavings, Jax clicked with them almost instantly, finding people he could not only relate to, but people he could be close to. He was particularly drawn to Caine, who would eventually become their leader. Â He was someone Jax truly looked up to, almost to the point of idolization.
Jax spent the entirety of his adolescence with the group, where he learned to perfect his Sliding. Â Once he was properly trained, he began running with the coinshots and lurchers, teaching himself to free run across the rooftops in order to keep up. Â He also became a valuable member to the group when he began showing proficiency in computer hacking and cyber crime; a skill he still continues to perfect to this day.
The perfect life Jax believed he had made came to a jolting end when Caine used him in a ploy to take out innocents. He was convinced he was simply burning down an abandoned warehouse that was owned by the Yomen family, but as it turned out it was full of employees.  Not only was he tricked into the murders, but set up to take the fall.  The police arrived just seconds after he realized what he’d done, and if it hadn’t been for his Sliding, he never would of escaped.
Jax went off the grid for nearly a year, letting the police believe his group had exacted their punishment for fleeing, and letting Caine and his band believe he’d been arrested.  He took on the alias Jaxinn Reese, and using his hacking skills, managed to erase Tommie Robicheau from any form of public record.  He only resurfaced after he caught wind that Caine was no longer in the city, and very few know about his true identity or past.
Despite everything, Jax remains optimistic and friendly.  He’s kind to strangers and generous to his friends.  He was slow to trust again, but after so long being alone he began to crave human interaction.  He makes a living mostly freelancing tech jobs for legitimate people, and hack jobs for those willing to pay, and is happiest when he’s running the rooftops at night through the mists, just like he did back when he first learned.  Part of him, though, knows the peace won’t last, and his past will eventually come back to haunt him.
personality ;
+  personable, optimistic, caring, laid back -  attention seeker, slow to trust, buries emotions
other information ;
•  Despite the fallout with the extremists, Jax remains a strict follower of Survivorism, though he’s not very open about his beliefs.  He has a scar tattoo of the Survivor’s Spear running from his hip to his armpit on his right side. •  Regardless of the weather, Jax is almost always in a hoodie.  It is almost like a security blanket for him; as well as a good luck charm. •  Jax doesn’t have a permanent residence; he prefers to move from place to place, often squatting in empty or abandoned apartments and houses.  Though on occasion he will snag a free room at Ruari’s Inn.

biography ;
Kalrien is a Venture in name only. She was born to a middle-class family, but her father had considerable debt to significant players in the criminal underworld of Elendel. From the age of six, Kalrien trained to become what her father called an "independent contractor," or an assassin to pay off her father's immense debts. With a combination of Allomantic and Feruchemical ability, Kalrien became prolific and made her first kill at sixteen years old. Her father left shortly afterward and she hasn't seen him since.
Despite her roots, Kalrien went to Colms University and studied criminal behaviour. Upon graduation, she joined the police force and has recently been promoted to the Major Crimes unit. This job is occasionally used to cover her tracks and frame innocent parties. She will work for anyone who pays well enough, staking out her mark and using her background in criminology to point the police in the direction of another suspect. Kalrien very rarely uses the same method twice, and never comes into direct contact with her employers to maintain anonymity. On the streets, she has begun to be called the Spectre, though no-one knows anything about her--not even her gender. She has never killed anyone she hasn't been paid to.
In everyday life, Kalrien is an active member of the community. She is often seen as very no-nonsense, and a strict adherer to the law. She is not entirely disconnected from society due to her assassinations, but has moments where she can appear quite callous and misanthropic, her means of protection from the truth: she grew up broken by time and circumstance, and she will die before her debt is paid. Though she dislikes being vulnerable with anyone, she is viciously loyal to anyone she holds dear. Â
personality ;
+ Â Intelligent, logical, loyal - Reserved, cold-hearted, difficulty in connecting to others
other information ;
• Kalrien is talented in a number of different martial skills, from close combat martial arts, to ranged weaponry and many things in between. • As a twinborn, she wears multiple chromium metalminds on her person in the form of arm braces, necklaces, and earrings. All of these are designed to puncture her skin to avoid tampering from any lurchers/coinshots. • For all that she is an assassin, she values her job as a detective to a very high degree, and excels at her work. She has received two medals to date for her accomplishments in the field. • She is in a committed relationship with her partner, Vic Trystane, though she knows it will fall apart in the event of her exposure as a contract killer--an eventuality she believes is close on the horizon.

biography ;
Complexity meets it’s match in Vic Trystane, a man with as many vices as virtues — but, he’s working it. Vic was born the first, and only, child of two government officials in the First Octant, both too focused on their careers to ever be able to provide a good home for their son. Rather than send him off to a boarding school though, as they had considered, he was welcomed into the home of his maternal aunt and his uncle, being raised as their son and regarding the two as his true parents. His upbringing was humble, and Vic’s first job was working in the fish markets in the Sixth Octant, as his aunt and uncle weren’t as well to do as his biological parents, but Vic never complained — his childhood and venture into adulthood had been a good one, setting him up for a successful life, or so he had thought. After High School, Vic was lucky enough to win a scholarship to Colms University, beside his longtime friend Han Riens, pursuing their aspiration to work in the line of justice — specifically to become an police investigator. He had always found that career path to be one he’d fit into well, and the University agreed. For a time, things had gone well; Vic was satisfied with his life, and with himself. He and Han worked as partners in the First Octant’s precinct, and worked their way up the ladder and into the ranks of Detectives. It had been a dream come true for Vic, who finally felt as though he was right where he belonged, doing good work and, hopefully, making a difference in his own small way. Though, as it so often does, change soon came on the horizon and jolted Vic’s life in a way that meant nothing would ever be the same again. Han was killed on duty, shot point blank and right in front of Vic no less — he didn’t see the shooter, and there was nothing Vic could do about it. While he had been shot too, as a Bloodmaker, he was able to recover almost instantly. The experience left Vic a shell of his old self, and he was taken off active duty in order to cope with the grief, instability, and survivor’s guilt. It was during the six months off duty that he began to entertain less than acceptable habits. Vic began using the illegal and dangerous drug, metalfire, and locked himself away in his little apartment, drinking and forming many one-night relationships that he isn’t proud of. Eventually, he was put back on active duty with EPD, and partnered up with Kalrien Venture. He isn’t sure how to feel about being back yet, though he wants more than anything to have a sense of stability again, nor is he sure on how to feel about having a partner again — Kalrien is good at her job, but he’s not sure he could handle losing a partner again.
personality ;
+ Determined, Passionate, Observant - Addictive, Vindictive, Obsessive    Â
other information ;
• Vic is in a serious relationship with his current partner, Kalrien Venture. He is unaware of the more in depth details of her family situation, however, and has no idea of the secret life that she lives whilst off-duty. • He is now trying to wean himself off of metalfire, taking less and less in the hope that he can get his life back on track and be proud of the man he is, once again. It’s a difficult process for Vic, and he finds himself going back to the drug more than he’d care to admit (not that he ever would).
Congratulations, Julia! You’ve been accepted as the character of Renwyn Cett. We will create your character post shortly. In the meantime, please create your blog (if you haven’t already) and send in the URL!
i'm confused about face claims? what is supposed to happen there? sorry to bother you with this D:<
Hello! Faceclaims are basically just an easy way of designating your character an appearance. So, to give you an example, my two characters, Kalrien Venture and Basil Verge, respectively have the faceclaims Lauren Cohan and Sebastian Stan. What this allows me to do is go to a site like Hollow Art (the site is down quite frequently, so if it won’t load when you open the link, try back in a bit) and find icons of the person. So, again in my example, I’ll look up “Sebastian Stan” in the search and find a bunch of icons to save to my computer.
Then, when it comes time to writing replies, what you do is upload an icon with a suitable expression, or that fits the scene somehow, like so. Sometimes you can’t find a suitable expression or situation in an icon (like, for instance, Kalrien has numerous instances where she has to hold guns—if there are no icons of Lauren Cohan holding a gun, I might not use an icon) and that’s fine, but we do like to see people using icons. It helps add a little bit of colour to the dashboard so it’s not just walls of text. :)
If you would like to see a list of examples/people we'd like to see used as faceclaims, we've got a couple here.

(P.S. I saw your other question, and I will see about consulting with the other mod before answering it, but we will definitely get around to it!)
how many people/characters are in this group?
Currently, we have around 13 active characters and 7 active members. We have a few other people as well, but they're on hiatus for work/school. :)
We have a masterlist of all of our characters here, and all of their character posts here. Note that if you see someone's character post but they aren't listed in the masterlist, it's because their blogs have gone inactive.
