Ok so something that’s really been bothering me in the tumblr RP fandom, specifically with OCs and fancast or recast canon characters is this possessiveness people are developing over face claims, especially for the same character. let me just remind you of one thing:

YOU DO NOT OWN A CHARACTER’S FACE CLAIM UNLESS YOU HAVE DRAWN IT OR IT IS YOUR OWN FACE.

Everyone has the right to use whatever face claim they want whether it’s for an OC or a canon character. Lots of people see canon characters and characters with similar traits a certain way and, unfortunately, the vast majority of models and actors look the same. Therefore it’s not unreasonable to think someone looking to get away from that mainstream or that is looking for someone with specific traits in a specific age range has very limited options and (GASP) may come up with the same face claim as you or someone else. Having the same face claim as someone is not a crime not is it evidence of theft. When a person copies backstory, major plot points and traits, speech patterns, takes or recreates themes and icon psds– actually models their blog after another – THAT is theft and copying. Vilifying someone for picking the same face claim is petty and outrageous and not something people should be getting harassed for dammit. Again, YOU DO NOT OWN A FACE CLAIM UNLESS IT IS OF YOUR OWN CREATION.

You don’t own actors. You don’t own models. Don’t fucking harass people for having similar ideas like your mind is completely original because guess what? People think alike. Grow up and stop harassing and policing everyone’s choices on this website. that’s all.

When Emma came out into her bedroom, wearing sweatpants and a tank top and rubbing her hair dry with a green towel, she found Mark curled up at the foot of her bed, reading a copy of Alice in Wonderland.

He was wearing a pair of cotton pajama bottoms that Emma had bought for three dollars from a vendor on the side of the PCH. He was partial to them as being oddly close in their loose, light material to the sort of trousers he’d worn in Faerie.

If it bothered him that they also had a pattern of green shamrocks embroidered with the words GET LUCKY on them, he didn’t show it. He sat up when Emma came in, scrubbing his hands through his hair, and smiled at her.

Mark had a smile that could break your heart. It seemed to take up his whole face and brighten his eyes, firing the blue and gold from inside.

“A strange evening, forsooth,” he said.

Emma put her hands on her hips. “Don’t you forsooth me.”
