i’m singling out this comment because lmao no, references are what you use to improve the anatomy in your artwork, references are photos of hairstyles you take to a stylist to recreate for you, a reference is something you refer to in order to have an idea of what you want. it doesn’t mean mimicking something in what’s more or less its entirety.

and no, much to your dismay, not everyone copies one another as you assume. some of us enjoy having original and eye-catching appearances which we pour lots of money & effort into maintaining.

it’s pretty universally agreed that if you were to go through the lengths to copy someone’s appearance irl, it’d be considered creepy, and a lot of people feel the same about the appearances of their personal characters being mimicked “out of admiration” or whatever the case.

i gave up on bothering with it after a particularly ridiculous incident but your comment really rubbed me the wrong way.

do as you will, but stating something as-a-matter-of-fact doesn’t make it a fact.
