For the first time in awhile, Gus felt safe in someone else’s embrace. They didn’t have to try so hard and hearing their old friend say they were glad that they were here too made them smile. “Yeah, definitely can be hard when you don’t know anyone.” August admitted, letting a hand slide to the back of his head as they inhaled. “You smell good,” they said nonchalantly as if it was normal that they were smelling him. At the question Gus gave a small shrug, “It was nice. I took a nap for most of it.” Their arms stayed around him for a few more minutes before they finally pulled away to see his face.

Eli laughed softly at the comment about how he smelled, which was a more off the wall compliment but he’d take it. The hand in his hair had his shoulders relaxing even further. “Thanks,” He replied, pulling back when August did before running a hand over his hair. “I guess it wasn’t a very long flight huh?” He laughed softly, heading into the kitchen and pulling a second mug from the cabinet. He topped himself off, then began pouring August’s cup as well. “It’s cool you’re here though, and I’m glad I was second on the list, I bet a lot of people here want to see you,” He mused. “How do you take yours?”

Seeing Eli made them laugh a bit as they realized just how early it still was and that if they were in his shoes and didn’t fly here early, they would probably be dressed pretty similarly. Gus smiled back, “Hi,” they could only manage back, feeling butterflies as they stepped into the dorm. They gave a nod, “Yeah, yeah coffee would be good, but first,” August didn’t finish the statement, simply making a bit of a leap towards him and hugging him tightly. Wrapping their arms around him, as they moved onto their tiptoes. “It’s so good to see you here,” she said softly, still holding him.

Elijah eased into the hug, wrapping his arms just as tightly around August as a soft chuckle escaped his lips. It had been quite some time since he’d seen them, so getting the chance to hug them again felt good. “I’m glad you’re here too. It would be weird if I kind of had to start from ground zero in the social scene,” He admitted, the thought making him just a little uncomfortable. He was happy Iago, Jack, Diego and Gus were here, even if it was beyond him how they all ended up in Florida of all places. “How was your flight in?” He asked, not moving to pull away until they did.

The reality was sinking in a bit more as August walked across campus just how many people were no longer there. It was quiet and it left them a bit uneasy. But, one person they were excited to see was Eli. They couldn’t even remember how many years it had been since they’d seen each other in person, but there was a bundle of nerves and excitement in the pit of their stomach as they finally made it over to the dorm that he had texted the number of. Giving a small sing-songy knock, Gus waited prepping themself to give a huge hug just as promised.

Eli had all the time in the world to get dressed and presentable by the time Gus arrived, but instead of using it he spent the time between that last text and the knock on his door getting some extra sleep and making some coffee. When he answered it, he was just in a t-shirt and some pajama pants, his glasses perched on his nose as opposed to the contacts that sat in their case on his nightstand. “Hey,” He smiled, stepping to the side to let them in as he prepared himself for them to give him the hug they promised. “I have some coffee left, if you want some?”

“Yeah….those things usually are. Extreme really isn’t how I roll though, I’m more…mild, I guess.”

“Sometimes I have to remind myself that not everyone finds it normal to just pack up their car and drive a week across the country. Oops,” Elijah breathed out with a soft laugh, moving to finish organizing some of his course material into individual folders by subject. “So, uh, you been going here long?”

Well great! And balance I’m guessing is very key as well. That’d be great! Yeah, it was nice, and unless you’re approaching a wave, it’s rather calm, but definitely doesn’t fit the space of something for wanting to do something for the sake of adrenaline.

Eli laughed softly, glancing over at the other with raised eyebrows before looking back out at the rainfall from where the two of them were sheltered under an awning. “It’s coming down pretty hard but, not that hard. Unless that’s a height joke, in which case... very funny.”

Kitty was regretting staying behind to take summer courses because after the trip to Mexico, going back to campus almost felt like jail to her. She was on her way back to her room when she was approached by someone she had never met before and for some reason that irritated her even if it was giving her something to do for the moment. “What do you want?”

Elijah couldn’t tell what the person’s deal was, given they were obviously upset, frustrated or a mix of both, but he just kept the smile present on his face as he shrugged a shoulder. “Just wondering if you might know where the library is located? I’m running late for a class, and I’m new new,” He simply explained, figuring that shared enough information.

“That’s cool, having family here sure is nice,” she commented, having told Elijah about her own siblings the day before. “You’re a big fan of the beach? I think you also mentioned it on your intro post on the forum, right?” Georgie leaned back on the chair, bringing her milkshake with her as she thought of an answer. “I really like how big it is. And the amount of stuff there is to see and do in down. And there’s always seem to be something going on, which I’m always down for.”  

“It is. Lowkey wishing I’d lied a little on my test though,” Elijah shrugged while laughing softy, moving in and taking another drink of his milkshake, just longer this time. “I did, yeah,” He responded after finishing it, contemplating getting another in the meantime. “The beach is kind of like a happy place for me, in a way? It keeps me straight. There is though, I’m noticing. Were you on that Mexico trip everyone was buzzing about?”

Ah, that’s probably why we never crossed paths. I set my sights on Colorado for college. He is pretty cool, for Iago, but I do want to take credit for moulding him that way. But yeah, all of us are. We just got lucky that way. And Iago tends to hang with cool people, so that’s looking good for you, Elijah.

Did Colorado have a better school for the degree you were looking for? Or did you just want to get out of California for a bit? Well, thanks. I appreciate that. I like to think I’m at least half decent.

Hey Elijah, I’m Miriam! Miss is my title though. Oh yeah? I’m a beginner surfer, so I would definitely appreciate some tips and tricks. Well perfect, that’s great to know. I am not sure if there’s a river here, just ocean I believe. But we can check to make sure, I did do some open sea kayaking though earlier in the summer so I know that is available and super fun, so I’d be up to do that again. 

Sounds good, Miss. I could show you a few tips and tricks for surfing, that’s no problem. A lot of it is in picking the right wave, and figuring out where it’s breaking. I can show you when we make it out there. Open sea kayaking is just as fun, just less adrenaline I think, but that’s not a bad thing. That would be nice to do if a river isn’t available.

I mean, a lot of things are filmed in Canada, but the best ones are filmed in California. The OC, for instance. I mean, I’m yet to meet anyone who loves the demon robot birds, but yes, personal experience. And one I never want to relive, but I do hope you find someone to quench that curiosity with, if you dare. Guilty as charged, Whitney Cohen-Chang, the best of Iago’s sisters. How do you know my brother?

Anyone who loves demon robot anything has zero survival instincts, I’d say. He’s an old San Fran friend, I used to run into him from time to time while I was out. I’ve known him since his early college days though. He’s a cool dude, so I’m sure the same could be said for the rest of his family.

I mean, everything on the West Coast is the best but that’s just my humble opinion. I won’t tell you the best places to go, but I will give you a big public service announcement and tell you, no matter what, to avoid Tropicz. Demon robot birds? Check. Lethal alcohol servings? …Double check. 

I absolutely share that opinion. There’s a reason every TV show and movie worth watching was filmed there. In my also humble opinion, anyway. Alright, no Tropicz. Demon robot birds aren’t my thing, but the lethal alcohol servings has me curious. Is that based on personal experience, or? You wouldn’t happen to be related to Iago, would you?

Hey there, just your local aerospace engineer out here still have quandaries over theories about the Cullens possible advancement of modern science. I have been sort of looking to do a few more adventurous things on the island like rock climbing, surfing, hiking, etc. . And was wondering if anyone had any interest. Or if anyone has any other cool suggestions, I’d be very willing to hear those. I’m a Switch so I can be either the escorter or the escortee.

This sounds kind of cool. I’d be down to come along. I’m Elijah, a submissive. I’m pretty good at surfing, but I’d love to go on a legitimate hike and rock climb too. As far as new suggestions go, white water kayaking is really fun, but I have no idea if that can be found on the island or not.
