As the blood seeps into my clothes, staining them

I realize I am finally beautiful in the perfect way

The air I breathe heavy, but so cold, like a sweet fall night, right as summer ends

For the first and final time, i actually love myself.

I become afraid of the end, wanting to relish this moment of peace I’ve never had before

I want my mom, her warm hugs and reassuring words. To feel small again.

I crave nothing more than comfort that I never had

I realize how meticulously I was formed, my insides so delicate and such a soft pink, the red looking so intense against it.

Tears start to fall and I want five more minutes

The man i can only dream of to hold me gently and love me as softly as i need.

I pray to a god I don’t believe in.

I mourn the loss of something I never was.

I was that one kid that never got on the bus

Homeschooled, trained to be the perfect girl

Then I grew, and I hated myself

Always trying to find who I am

Spiraling and scratching, every shower burns

3 years clean, will I ever learn?

Nausea takes over, can’t even breathe right.

Everyday I fake and play, but every night I see the monster I’ve turned into.

My face grows blue as I hold my face under the water.

I’m pathetic.

God I really am her daughter.

They say I’m a great kid but point out my flaws,

They poke and prod, until I’m oozing blood

They huff as they wait but I’m almost done.

I grow nauseous with every bite, keeping it down with all my might
