if I had a nickel for every fandom I’ve been in for a piece of media that was the passion project of a dorky well-intentioned guy and that media had a diverse cast and overt progressive messaging, but the guy was hated by part of the fandom for not passing their moral purity test and called him egotistical for casting himself as the lead, I would only have two nickels, but it’s kinda funny that it’s happened twice
