“It was, because they would have found your car at the bar and my truck gone. Everyone knows no one drives my truck but me. If I was healthy enough to drive home, I’d be at work right now. The deli is horrible and it’s always a new level, so botulism doesn’t exactly seem far-fetched,” she responded. “And you’re welcome for getting you out of the thick of it, too.”
The mention of Jameson had her blanching. “He wants to talk to me about how I felt seeing what we saw yesterday. I’m about to tell him to go blow it out where the sun doesn’t shine.” Yet she could do that later. A glance in the mirror he had nearby and she was certainly a sight with the hickeys and messed-up hair. She could lie and say she hooked up with literally anyone else. “I look like I was attacked by a vacuum cleaner.”
With that, she adjusted the blanket back over her shoulders to try and cover up the worst of them and sat back down on the edge of his bed. With a little wiggling, she was back to her former spot next to him, in a bed far more comfortable than it had a right to be. “Do you want food?”
He hated to admit it, but she really came up with a good solution for their situation, if it was up to him, there was a probability that they would be in a tough situation right now. “Fine, you did come up with a clever solution, I’ll give you that,” there. That was the most he would say to her about the situation. Was he still bothered about the antics from before? Most probably yes. He just hated to lose.
Jameson was always a touchy subject when it came to her, for some reason the man made it his mission to make her life completely miserable and he didn’t know why. “I already told you to do that a long time ago, this whole southern ways of yours are keeping you from doing what is right.” Jameson knew he shouldn’t be pulling his tricks on him because he made it quite understandable what he thought about the man in the past. Seeing her still naked and somewhat comfortable on his apartment gave Elijah some sort of satisfaction, even if he wouldn’t even admit it. “You are welcome for those, by the way.”
With his phone finally charged he started to receive a mass of texts from people asking where he was or even if he was alive, a few missed calls but that mostly it. All of that could wait for another time. And just like that, they were back where they started, on a bed, side by side. The only difference was that she was covered and he couldn’t even bother by that. “Yeah, I could eat. I kinda used a lot of energy, ya know?” He knew he shouldn’t do that, he shouldn’t play with the fact they had sex, but it was just so easy. “Order in?”
