I feel really sorry for the babies who grew up only playing BOTW and TOTK. They have no account for taste in GOOD Zelink pairings
How Shulk really comforts someone.
I do believe that Off the Hook are supposed to be lovers, but if someone wants to interpret them as platonic, it's not my problem. It's not like friendship matters less than romance.
I saw someone describe Pearl as a "masculine lesbian" and I scoffed at how ridiculous that was. In what universe has Pearl - the gal who wears pink dresses, calls herself a princess, and uses the "Atashi" pronoun on herself - EVER been masculine? She's possibly the most feminine out of all the idols.
TotK really took the ear racism that was applied to the entirety of the Gerudo in OoT (which, in the context of Ocarina of Time, could have been read as Hylian propaganda because there is an NPC in Castle Town that talks about how it is said that Hylians have pointed ears to hear the gods but he never heard any gods), and then applied it JUST to Ganondorf, to justify the ear racism and make it real? I guess?
The funny part is that the explanation in the TotK Masterworks for Ganondorf having round ears as a "sign of his fate to stand against the gods" comes right after explaining that Ganondorf saw this kingdom suddenly spring up on his borders and was wary of it. As if that is not a reasonable concern to have as a king lol
TotK and AoI both together made Ganondorf feel like a guy that was just dropped into Hyrule specifically to antagonize Rauru instead of like, a character that organically belongs in Hyrule. "Hyrule will be mine" dude Hyrule has existed for all of five minutes and you're no spring chicken, what were you doing before this? Why not spend your best years going around and antagonizing other tribes to the point that they would have a compelling reason to accept joining Rauru as a unified front against you? "Oh Ganondorf can control shades" okay, so *before* he was Demon King he could control shades? And moldugas? What are shades even? Just something else we can associate with Ganondorf so that we know he's evil? "Oh Ardi you would have been our chief had Ganondorf not risen to power" excuse me but Ganondorf is "king by birth" as in as soon as he saw the light of this world kingship was his, why was this ever brought into consideration? What was happening internally amongst the Gerudo? Again, Hyrule has existed for all of five minutes and this seems like a deeper issue beyond "oh we want peace with Hyrule" versus "we want war with Hyrule". Ganondorf really does feel like he just sprouted out of the ground for real 😔
hate when people label straight ships as ‘that’s a gay man and a lesbian and they love each other platonically’ and are hostile towards the ship just cuz it’s mlw, like— Okay your mom loves your dad platonically— you don’t even exist to have an opinion bitch 😒
Like the way some people act like shipping a man and a woman is a federal offense because they’ve personally decided he’s gay and she’s a lesbian 😭
girl, that’s your headcanon. stop throwing tomatoes at everyone else’s.
If Zelda's mother and Urbosa really were having an affair with each other (as a few people have on this site have claimed), then the two of them were terrible women and they both deserve to rot in Hell.
Never. Forgive. Cheaters.
Of course.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (2023)
Lady Yona
“A royal Zora from another domain. Known for her kindness, she was Sidon's childhood friend and is now his fiancée. She began assisting the residents of Zora's Domain in their efforts to combat the sludge as soon as she arrived. A match for Sidon's selfless compassion, she dedicates herself to helping the citizens of the domain.”—Character profile
Requested by the dear @songs-of-the-windfish , I hope you like it <3
If you think Sidon and his wife are "gay besties forced to be married", you're an illiterate fucktard.
No, you don't really love Yona if you say that she and her husband don't love each other. You're just a perverted sicko freak and you don't belong in any fandom.
King Rauru Hyrule:
Used his power to take over hyrule and "softly" strong arm other sovereign nations to join him
Never took no for an answer
Ignored Zelda’s concerns about Ganondorf
Wasn't present for some damn reaso when Zelda and Sonia laid a trap for Ganondorf
Only gave his collection of stones out when things got Dire and made every recipient swear to him
Fakes you out with his death only to show up again at the end?? Oh so you're too good to be a ghost companion then?
Sacrifices himself so whatever its fine
King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule
Hard on Zelda because she's literally the only hope for thousands of people and her powers aren't working
Does what he can with the info he's got to prepare his country for a fight with an ancient destructive entity
His hyrule is safe to a point Zelda doesnt even need a large security detail to travel the country, just Link. The leaders of each region are close enough with the royal family that at least Urbosa knew Zelda growing up.
The sheikah dont seem to have any gripes working for him, meaning he either made things right with them, or continued to foster a good relationship with a group Hyrule initially betrayed.
He gets the oppurtunity to apologize in AOC and DOES.
Actually gives Link exposition and begs him to save his daughter and Hyrule.
ANYONE WANNA TELL ME WHY RHOAM IS HATED MORE THAN FUCKIN RAURU??
people who raged about king rhoam being a shitty father (yet a decently complex and multi-faceted character all the same) have no idea what they've manifested: the most boring king of hyrule to date with zero on screen flaws and never allowed to be cast in an even mildly questionable light
I really think Rauru and Sonia should have gotten more comeuppance for not listening to Zelda's warnings about Ganondorf. Like yeah I know they both die but that is never portrayed as a fault of theirs
AoI already changed Sonia's death scene to remove Ganondorf's crazy laugh, should have also added Zelda going "oh if only she hadn't cut me off when I tried to tell her" while she cried
zelink is probably the most Nothing straight ship of all time. like just literally nothing. it doesnt Make Me Mad bc theres nothing Wrong with it, im not saying "theres no chemistry" its just... its nothing. im looking at Nothing. im looking at the most bland Nothing pairing of all time
HOT TAKE:
if you genuinely think King Rhoam from BotW was a bad person you have a severe lack of media literacy and are incapable of comprehending flawed characters
I am so fucking sick of seeing people drag King Rhoam’s name through the mud talking about how terrible of a person he is.
Please for the love of god have some empathy and put yourself in his shoes for once.
I see so many people coming from the perspective of already knowing everything and saying 'he chose to be a king over being a father' or even worse 'if he let her do her research she would have unlocked her powers faster' AS IF HE WAS SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT???
A calamity that no one knew Hyrule could even survive was coming, and the king was in charge of the preparations for it.
The ONLY KNOWN SUREFIRE WAY to protect the kingdom was Zelda's sealing power. If Zelda didnt unlock her sealing power in time, not only would the people of Hyrule suffer immense casualties, BUT ZELDA HERSELF COULD DIE TOO.
It DOES NOT excuse what he did, but in his eyes, he had NO CHOICE but to push her in the way he did. The shiekah tech could only take them so far, and he didnt trust it anyway. Zelda unlocking her power was quite literally the difference between victory and utter oblivion for both Zelda and the millions of people living in Hyrule.
Zelda's MOTHER was the expert on her sealing magic, NOT King Rhoam. NO ONE in the ENTIRE KINGDOM—including him—had ANY idea as to what could help her other than what knowledge they already had ie training.
From his perspective, every second she didnt spend training only increased the chances of both HER and EVERYONE ELSE dying.
Do you think he LIKED seeing her miserable?? Do you think he ENJOYED taking away her research from her??? OBVIOUSLY FUCKING NOT
HER LIFE WAS AT STAKE. He chose to endure being the bad guy if it meant his kingdom and ESPECIALLY his daughter could live to see another day after the Calamity. He never chose being a king over being a father, he chose to be BOTH.
I hate when people talk about how King Rhoam wrote in his journal that he was going to give her a break if the Spring of Wisdom didnt work and then write it off bc ‘it was too late’. HOLY BAD FAITH ARGUMENT HOW WAS HE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT?????
Sure he could have told her he was proud of her every once in a while, but we have no evidence that he DIDNT and that doesnt mean that he didnt love her or that he was a bad father by default. It means he was FLAWED just like you and I.
He was a figure of authority who had to make a DIFFICULT DECISION because people were going to DIE.
His daughter was going to DIE.
Say what you will, but to say hes a bad person or that he didnt care enough about Zelda is objectively wrong and I will die on that hill.
