250 word reflection for one minute film
This project was a fun one, a lot of work to do but still a great experience!
I learned a great deal about the process of animating and what really goes into it, from the animating in itself to the sounds needed to actually bring a film to life.
I know now that my animation could’ve been made way better if I just accepted that I needed to remove a bunch of scenes, and redid my voice-over to fit it. I could’ve also saved a massive amount of time on creating backgrounds if I redid the storyboard a bit to fit the narrative better. A big part that I dislike with my animation is the jitteriness of my characters, mostly with my cat and walk cycles. This could’ve easily been fixed if I added more frames and spent more time on getting the frames to line up nicely, but lack of time made it hard to do that sadly. And lastly the voice-over, the quality is really poor as I couldn’t do it in the studio, because of Covid, so I had to use my phone. There’s nothing I could’ve changed there except buying an expensive microphone, which I didn’t have the money for.
On the whole, my animation is nowhere near perfect, with chunky frames and way too fast-paced scenes, but I’m still happy with what I created in the end. I can see the progress I’ve made with character design, animating, and presentation since the start of the term. And I know that I will continue to improve in the future as the next term starts.
Thank you for a fun year of learning and improving!
