Anyway, their reconciliation arc has Nightmare going: "It's SO unrealistic...but that is what makes it beautiful" (dramatic swell of music)

And then they make out. Duh. 🙄

(While they were divorced, Nightmare definitely missed Error's drama and the spark he brought into Nightmare's life)

Silly Ideas Made Serious

I don't know what it is about stupid premises that make me go: "Oh yeah. This has potential." Think about my fanfics for more than two seconds and you think "wait a minute.......that's silly"

'Nightmare Gets A Gun'? You would expect silly fun, but instead I dive into the actual consequences of such a thing. Nightmare is having fun, but other people are panicking because they misunderstand what Nightmare actually wants. And then I spend a bunch of time focusing on the characters instead of the plot, cuz that was more fun. Plus, what the hell? It's my first fic. I'm having enough trouble finishing it, I might as well do what I want. Anyway, it gets super serious, trust.

'Three Lights of Different Lusters'? The whole premise is Nightmare getting kidnapped by three different versions of his brother. Like, that's ridiculous and I could easily lean into that. Instead, I explore the reasons why each would want to do such a thing as well as how it affects Nightmare to have his wants and needs shoved to the side for so long. I explore him being kind to (some of) his kidnappers while still keeping his self-respect as well as the idea of sympathizing with one of his captors and having to resist the ease of staying in an abusive situation.

And then I just can't shake the idea of 'Bwewy Joins the Bad Sanses' out of my head, for the life of me. Like, there's the idea of coming from a culture where who you are is normal and everything you do is completely acceptable, but then one day you leave that for an opportunity and your new coworkers hate you? They're all so...serious. They think your optimism, your joy and whimsy, even your speech patterns...are annoying. But '[character] Joins the Bad Sanses' is a trope that for me is synonymous with that person being accepted for who they are and becoming their best version of themself. So the gang comes to appreciate Blueberry's fierce loyalty and passion. Meanwhile, Blueberry learns to be a little more serious and to just...stop and listen sometimes. But he still keeps the essence of who he is. And the others learn to not bully someone for being different >:( They get used to Berry's way of talking and posing and just find him kinda endearing eventually.

Oh also, one of Nightmare's business partners insults Horror. Calls him "a big ugly oaf" or smth and then Nightmare's calling a meeting to be like "ok which one of you tore him to literal shreds?" And Berry mutters something under his breath about him deserving it. And this was like someone super powerful and important. The gang respects Berry a little more after this.

Either that, or Blueberry's mannerisms are an extreme coping mechanism like I see in many versions of 'Blue Joins the Bad Sanses', but like kicked up to the extreme. I'm not sure I like this one as much because it feels like it would end with Blueberry becoming "normal" which- *loud raspberry and a thumbs down* Normal sucks. Long live cringe. LONG LIVE CRINGEEEEE

Plus, it's not as unique of a take. I like the first one better.
