Gerhard Berger:I had succeeded, even more than Prost. But I still didn’t represent a real threat to him, because his perfection placed him on another level. So he began to feel more and more at ease with me and opened up to me more and more. Many people came to me to give me what they thought was good advice – “You’re acting wrong, you shouldn’t accept him as a friend, see him as your enemy, fight him on every level” – but that went against my nature. I couldn’t see him as an enemy; I liked him too much for that. That’s a very rare thing in the world.
