What belongings he valued was packed tightly into a cardboard box that fit snug under his arm like a football or child. Everything heavy duty had been confiscated. “No, I don’t need any help… Do you?”
“I used to have people doing this for me.” She commented on his words. “But I suppose things are to be different now.” It was still strange to go by another name, have a different home address. A new family.
She stood just inside the doorway of the home, so very unsure of what to do with herself– – it’d been about six years time since she’d actually lived in a ‘home’ verses making due on the streets; what was she to do with herself now? “So, there’s not like bunk beds or anything like that right?”
“Do you seriously think a house that looks like this outside would have bunk beds inside? It would be a crime.” Marion looked the girl up and down. Maybe she was going to pretend to be one of the teenagers of the family. She was someone’s pretend-daughter. But was it hers? “What’s your name?”
In the shade of a garish moving truck, he hid from the others; all the while keeping an eye out for his young son. Ever since the kid took a D.A.R.E course in school, Nicotine had become a (very sacred and) rare thing. A quick smoke break before dealing with the the next big change in his life sounded like a minor escape, but with five new members of his family to take into account, it proved to be more difficult than looking our for the usual two.
It all seemed ridiculous to her. So many people in one house, no matter how big it was, there would be definitely a lot of arguments. Each person had their own quirks. Marion had tried to find a place outside where she could escape the attention for a while and do the only thing that calmed her nerves. Smoke. But she was not the only one who got that idea.
“So I am not the only smoker.”
Husband || Headcanon
More like ex-husband, since they are no longer married. Marion met him when she was nineteen and still doing the first love of her life - beauty pageants. At first she only liked him because he had everything she wanted. And she wanted a glamorous life. He was the reason why she decided to study psychotherapy, to support what she had told him when they first met, to impress him. They got to have three children, but the love between them didn't last and their personalities started to clash. But Marion never believed he was capable of doing what he did to her.
Music || Headcanon
Music is not a big part of Marion's life. Mostly because she never had the time to just stop and listen to some. Her schedule has always been full with her job, her supposed care of her kids and maybe, just maybe, a dinner with her husband. Though the last one was highly unlikely.
Smoking || Headcanon
Marion first started smoking a few months after giving birth to her first child. The pressure that was being forced on her was too much for her to handle on her own, considering that her husband was always working. She had no choice but to turn to smoking. It calmed her nerves and made her feel better. Marion was never a mother material, she has always had very little maternal feeling and children weren't much of a blessing for her. She has always thought of them as something she had to go through for the sake of her marriage. But as her marriage started to fall apart more and more, her smoking habits got deeper, turning her into a heavy smoker.
