This chapter brings Enid to the edge of the next arc.

The fog has not cleared yet, and she still doesn’t have all the answers. But doubt is no longer only something she carries beneath the surface. It’s beginning to take shape.

For the first time, there is a direction inside it.

This one closes a quieter, heavier stretch of the story, while beginning to lean toward what comes next.

This chapter is quieter than the last, but a very intentional one.

It picks up in the aftermath of everything that happened before and stays with Enid as she finds herself caught between what has guided her all her life and the growing feeling that something about all of this is not quite right.

Something begins to shift here, not all at once, but enough for her to start realizing that not knowing enough is no longer enough to simply stay still.

Not me just now realizing that when Rio and Agatha were talking, Agatha asked, “What are you doing here?”, and Rio answered, “My job.” She didn’t mean her job as an FBI agent in Agatha’s imaginary scenario. She literally meant her job as Death!!!

She came to take her.

Like, she was there to take her the second Agatha was reachable again, once she was no longer hidden behind the Darkhold. And the moment Agatha remembered, Rio actually showed up to do it. To take her.

I can’t believe I only understood this now. It’s been YEARS.

And then Rio just… leaves? I’m trying to figure out whether she can’t actually kill people directly, like she can’t intervene and needs someone else to do it, or if she simply didn’t have it in her to take Agatha, even though that’s literally why she was there.

Either way… damn. I feel LATE late. 😭

I seriously giggled every single time I rewatched it. Especially during that whole Ouija game. Agatha acting like she’s possessed? The word “DEATH” getting spelled out with Rio—aka DEATH—right next to them, and only AGATHA knows who Rio really is?? Absolute gold.
