“so i’m not gonna find you with a pint of ice cream at 2 a.m. going through old photos while sobbing to alicia keys? you can’t cry all day. oh please, i got grey hairs ten years ago. i’ll keep it in mind.”
“oakley, come on, i don’t even listen to alicia keys and while i like looking at old pictures i promise not to do it while crying. ten years ago? when you were six? seems unrealistic. good.”

“well it’s just gonna make you upset and i don’t wanna see you cry on my birthday. ‘cause that’d make it suck.”
“it’s not going to make me upset, and i promise i won’t cry. but i don’t want your birthday to suck because it’s your sweet sixteen. i think i see a gray hair growing in, old man. just know that if you ever want to talk about it, i’m here.”

“no, ‘cause you don’t want to. it is whatever. well if it says anything, you’re my favorite sister.”
“it’s not whatever. if you wanna talk to me, i’m always here. even if it’s not my favorite subject. thanks oak, that means a lot.”

“yeah, ‘cause i dunno where the other sister dear is and you never wanna talk ‘bout it. but it’s whatever. that’s true. but otherwise you’d never be nice to me?”
“she’s mia, apparently. it’s not whatever. do you wanna talk about it? if you want to, i’m all ears. i’m always nice to you. just thought it was a good day to remind you that you’re my favorite.”

“talking is good for the soul. i guess i can, but now i’m getting suspicious as to why you’re just now telling me i’m your favorite.”
“i guess, but we never really talk about her so there’s not really a reason to start now. i’m telling you because it’s your birthday, and i have to be nice to you on your birthday.”

“she seemed pretty smart to me. that’s cheating.”
“can we just not talk about her? yeah, technically. can’t you just be grateful you’re my favorite brother?”

“yeah, well she was always an idiot. i know, that’s why you’re my favorite.”

Aren’t you supposed to feel like, older when you turn 16? ‘Cause I think I’ve been lied to. I only feel a major stomach ache coming on after eating all this candy.
“oh, right. today’s your birthday, isn’t it kiddo?”
ockleyok:
“well yeah, ‘cause i was a kid. you could tell me the sky was orange and i would’ve believed you.
“ah, yes. those were the days my brother.”

“probably when you were like six. you would just agree with everything i said.”
