A new OC design! I did something a little different with her sheet. I won't go into the lore cause I'm still working it out, but her name is Carmen White, and she's a part of the same story as my OC, Cecilia Graf.

Forgot to mention that the first drawing is actually a redraw! So here's the original from two years ago. I didn't think I'd improved that much before doing this, but I guess I was wrong lol. I'm happy with the progress.

An OC drawing playing around with foreshortening!

It was a struggle, especially the character on the right, as her body type is very different from the woman in the reference I was using. Good refs of plus-sized people are kinda hard to find, so I just use whatever and try to work with it. I think I've done enough figure practice that I can do so properly, idk. I also struggled with showing that the characters are of different heights while still keeping their faces at the same level. I think it translates, since the character on the left is bending more than the other, so you can tell that she's taller?

I'm happy with it! I kinda messed up with the rendering by doing the background last, though, so I wasn't really thinking about light sources. I added an overlay to try and make the characters fit in the background, but idk if it looks better with or without. I do like having my characters pop from the background. Recently, I've been doing refined character + loose painterly background, and I like the look of it. I struggle with backgrounds and rely almost entirely on reference to draw them at this point, so the loose style masks that difficulty somewhat. Anyway, let me know what you think!

I'm working on doing more complex, compositional illustrations. I struggle with a lot of the things I'm trying to do so this was good practice. Alot of it is off but I'm happy overall!

New drawing! I'm trying to work on creating more dynamic and complete illustrations, since I tend to just do a character posing type thing. There's definitely a lot I need to work on in terms of composition, lighting, backgrounds, movement etc etc but this was good practice and I'm pretty happy with it.

Did some ballpoint pen sketches (plus alcohol marker + purple micron added at the end) based kn photos I took of some specimens at the National Gallery whilst I was seeing family in Canberra for the new year :)

I haven’t been drawing as much since I’ve been on holiday bug I’m hoping to get back into it now that Imm home. I have a Nice Life drawing that I started when episode 2 came out but Christmas plans got in the way of finishing it, I may or may not finish but I do have plenty of drawings and paintings planned :). Mostly OC stuff.
